I agree that the Residence Garden Hotel is one of the best in Pattaya. . .for the money. Nice balcony with table and chairs and a pool view plus nice size rooms. With the special price to FLB Bar board members I think it hard to beat. I agree with kjvegas that the room safe is very well placed and a good quality one to boot. My trip coming up will be my third stay at RGH and unless things change a lot there I'll be staying there a few more times after this trip. Posted by: SoCalGuy Posted on: Today at 22:14:45 To answer for kjvegas, I thought the pool there was great and as far as doing laps, I would guess it would depend what kind of a “lapper” you are. But for most everyone it should be just fine and it’s very clean, always 30 days 10 hrs 51 mins 21 secs and wheels-up. . .But who's counting? Just a slight addendum to my suggested "Mulligan Rule # 6": Here it is: Only each player within their own foursome can Mulligan's (1 tee and 1 anyplace per 9 holes) be used on their opponent making them [smiley=.gif] re-shoot [smiley=.gif] his or her ball. Otherwise it could get too confusing and delay the game too much. I'm glad to see some response to my ideas. I think the whole object of the exercise, RideHer Cup 2003, is to have fun and not to take this round of golf or ourselves too seriously but just to have a different kind of fun day out golfing. 31 days 23 hrs 27 mins 31 secs and wheels-up. . .But who's counting? I think that works out to. . . 2,762,851 seconds left. Talk about clock watching. . .Tic Toc? Your best Golf Courses near Pattaya Poll?
ff29 replied to duece's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
Laem Chabang International Country Club This golf course is without a doubt the finest golf course I have ever played. Back in the USA I’ve played many great courses and courses designed by Jack Nicholas who also designed Laem Chabang C.C. There is none that compares to the beauty and quality of Laem Chabang C.C. It’s about 30 kilometers from Pattaya and no problem getting there by limo or by having your hotel make the arrangements for you. The buffet there is also top shelf. Many, many choices and very attentive help who are always bringing beverages and anything else you need. I was very impressed with every aspect of this truly world class golf course. . .even down to the toilet facilities where they provide you with combs, brushes, shaving items, hair dryers and a very large whirlpool unit. Caddies I’ve had there on my visits were very well informed and helpful right down to distance to the pin, club choice, the exact way the ball will brake on the greens, and even the green speeds. Without a doubt Laem Chabang C.C. gets my vote and thumbs up for the best golf course, clubhouse amenities, and the food! It’s worth playing. Here are a few pictures to look at: Kind of a silly closing comment but they serve the best corn chowder soup I've ever had but they don't serve it every day. 32 days 12 hrs 43 mins 21 secs and wheels-up. . .But who's counting? Subject: [glow=red,2,300]Tiger[/glow] Taking a wee break from the golf circuit, Tiger Woods drives his new Buick Rendezvous into an Irish gas station. An attendant greets him in typical Irish manner, unaware who the golf pro is... "top o'the morning to ya." As Tiger gets out of the car, two tees fall out of his pocket. "So what are those, son?" asks the attendant. They're called tees," replied Tiger. And what would ya be usin' 'em for, now?" asked the Irishman. "Well, they're for resting my balls on when I drive," replies Tiger. "Aw, Jaysus, Mary an' Joseph!" exclaimed the Irish attendant. "Those fellas at Buick think of everything!" 32 days 18 hrs 19 mins 16 secs and wheels-up. . .But who's counting? Hi Doggie, [glow=red,2,300] MULLIGAN’S OR NOT? [/glow] Here is my two baht’s worth (which is declining) for a few possible ways to introduce Mulligan’s in to the 2003 RideHer Cup. Revised from a previous post. . . 1) Be able to purchase up to 4 Mulligan’s before RideHer Cup play starts. 2) Be able to use 2 Mulligan’s per nine holes of play. 3) Cost per Mulligan at 100 baht each (or to be determined) with money going into the Mulligan Baht Pool. 4) 1 Mulligan from tee box ONLY and 1 Mulligan from ANYPLACE on course excluding the tee box. 5) No carryovers allowed. If you don’t use your 2 Mulligan’s on the front nine you lose them on the back nine. 6) Opponents can use appropriate (tee box or anyplace) Mulligan’s to make opponents team member shoot his or her shot over again. Just a little twist if you think your opponent's shot was too good or was just a lucky one. 7) No Mulligan’s can be used against opponents or for themselves when any prizes are being played for on the shot. (closest to the pin, shortest drive, longest drive, etc) Some suggestions for dividing up the Mulligan Baht Pool could be: A) Two names drawn out of a hat, at random, during the FLB party afterwards for half of the Baht Pool money. One winner for the front nine. One winner for the back nine. (Must purchase 4 Mulligan’s before play starts to be in the Baht Pool drawing) Teams that place 3rd and 6th share equally in the Baht Pool? (prevents sandbagging) C) Closest to the Mulligan sign placed on the fairway or green. One for front nine and one for back nine. D) Baht Pool money could be also be divided equally among the “FLB’s Party Baht Bus Lap Dancers” in the bus’s lower lounge. (If Ben can get them to go?) It may be to difficult to keep track of this additional item in the RideHer Cup and the final decision should be up to doggie or whomever is involved in keeping track of all the stuff. Good job [smiley=cheers.gif] "Doggie" [smiley=cheers.gif] and those involved on putting the rules together and getting the whole thing rolling. It takes a lot of time and effort to put together an event like this and make it come off smoothly. One request, Doggie, please make an attempt to keep your trousers on this year. You’ve got an ugly butt to be showing off it off in public and I’m sure it will be very distracting to Team USA. Hope to see you all there in: 33 days 4 hrs 1 min 11 secs and wheels-up. . .But who's counting? I would have to say the best caddie that knew the course very well and also knew how every green broke was at Laem Chabang. Very attentive, cleaned the clubs after every shot and made sure my ball was cleaned and lined up properly on the greens. She even new which way the grass was growing making the greens faster or slower. She knew more shit than I needed to know but not quite enough to help my game much. My choice is caddie # 210 at Laem Chabang which is also a great golf course and very nice buffet. I may have her number 210 wrong but her name was Lampoy. 34 days 0 hrs 44 mins 11 secs and wheels-up. . .But who's counting? Hi Guys, Thanks RobertCC and RayW for all the helpful hints on the golf club question. I think I can maybe buy them cheaper here in the USA and just leave them in someplace in Pattaya. Isn't it strange that you can have clubs made in Asia, shipped to the USA, and buy them cheaper than where their made. Go figure?? I will be going up to Third Road to check out that golf shop, RayW. Just love browsing around where they sell golf equipment. Of course I love browsing and looking at the equipment at the FLB more. . . and it's cheaper buying "IT" in Pattaya than buying it in here the USA. Thanks again for the information. See you in Pattaya and at the FLB and. . . [glow=red,2,300]"The RideHer Cup International 2003."[/glow] 51 days 14 hrs 5 mins to wheels up and back to Pattaya, Thailand and the LOS. Does anyone know where can I buy a used set of clubs or is there a place you can buy reasonably good quality new club [smiley=grin.gif] CHEAP! I was thinking I would buy a set of clubs and just leave them in Pattaya so I didn't have to haul them back and forth on the plane and then from Bangkok to Pattaya and back again home to the USA. Maybe someone like Ben, Pete, doggie, or anyone could give me some ideas on prices there (new clubs or good quality used ones). Renting gets a little expensive when your there for 30 days. Most of the rental clubs are beat up pretty bad as well as not being too good to begin with from what I've seen on my past trips. Thanks in advance for any replies. 53 days 16 hrs 55 mins to wheels up and back to Pattaya, Thailand and the LOS. Posted by: Greg_B on 18/08/2003 at 09:34:19 Thanks Greg. I just booked a flight for 2 from DLU - MSP - LAX - NRT - BKK and return BKK - NRT - SFO - MSP - DLH. 28 Hrs 55 Mins going and 22 Hrs 52 Mins on return flight. Not to bad of connections and no changing of planes from LAX - BKK or BKK - SFO in NRT. About a 2 Hr 15 Min wait on ground at NRT. Price I felt was very good. . . $844.90 each ticket RT. I don't really like flying coach but the price savings is worth the minor inconvenience. [smiley=zzz.gif] Sleep [smiley=zzz.gif] most of the way with aisle seats. We'll be happy to welcome any foreigner, in good standing, under the special waiver rules aforementioned with a 0 handicap or less. . . and Team USA will still pay the [smiley=bonk.gif] BF’s [smiley=bonk.gif] if the losers cry [smiley=crying.gif] “FOUL!” [smiley=crying.gif] Look forward to seeing you again at this years RideHer's Cup. Hey Joop, Congratulations to you and your bride to be. Sorry you won't be there for the RideHer Cup festivities. I guess the honeymoon may be just a tad more important than being a referee at a golfing party. However, I'm happy he hear you say, "I will have operatives nearby in the event the trophy needs rescuing again!!" Have a great honeymoon and I recall seeing a banner on the site saying you're having a bachelor party at the FLB. If possible I'll try to make it and meet some of your "operatives" protecting the RideHer Cup Trophy in your honeymoon absence. Joop, again best wishes to you and yours on your upcoming wedding. Hi Everyone: My [smiley=yikes.gif] wife [smiley=yikes.gif] and [smiley=angel.gif] I [smiley=angel.gif] will be there this year and have booked our flights from USA to Bangkok. We leave on October 21st and will arrive very early AM in Pattaya on Thursday the 23nd. I sent an e-mail to Ben to let him know we'll be playing in the 2003 RideHer Cup. Doggie, FYI my wife's USGA handicap as of 26/07/2003 is 30.4 [smiley=sad.gif] index for 18 holes and mine is 24 [smiley=sad.gif] index for 18 holes, and sometimes for as many as 24 for as few as 12 holes [smiley=Eyecrazy.gif] when you put tournament in front of the word golf. This will be my wife's first trip out of the country other than to Canada or Mexico. So I'm sure it will be an interesting experience for her. This will be my 3rd trip to LOS ;D and my second year in the RideHer Cup. I hope that Team Europe knows this years outcome will be different. . . [smiley=toilet_claw.gif] than last year's event! Sorry, mates! Both my wife and I are looking forward to playing golf with everyone and my showing my wife all the sites and foods that Pattaya and the area have to offer. You so have to hate when this disease is diagnosed. . . ED ZACHARY DISEASE A woman was very distraught at the fact that she had not had a date or any [smiley=bonk.gif] sex [smiley=bonk.gif] in quite some time. She was afraid she might have something wrong with her, so she decided to seek the medical expertise of a sex therapist. Her doctor recommended that she see the well known Chinese sex therapist, Dr. Chang. So she went to see him. Upon entering the examination room, Dr. Chang said, "OK, take off all your crose." The woman did as she was told. "Now, get down on all fours and craw reery, reery fass to odderside of room." Again, the woman did as she was instructed. Dr. Chang then said, "OK, now craw reery, reery fass back to me." So she did. . . Dr. Chang shook his head slowly and said, "Your probrem vewy bad. You haf Ed Zachary Disease. Worse case I ever see. Dat why you not haf sex or dates." Worried, the woman asked anxiously, [smiley=yikes.gif] "Oh my God, Dr. Chang, what is Ed Zachary Disease?" Posted by: Joop Posted on: 15-08-03 11:34:36 Way to go Joop. Maybe if you're in town on Nov 3 for this years [smiley=cheers.gif] RideHer Cup Tournament you could be the OFFICAL Referee for the event. Maybe this could help avert some of the [smiley=bonk.gif] skullduggery perpetrated by those other guys last year. Keep a special [smiley=Eyecrazy.gif] eye on that one guy who dropped his drawers [smiley=yikes.gif] on the course and comes from country where guys (?) wear [smiley=grin.gif] Skirts. Oh, sorry! I guess there are called Kilts. At any rate, if your around in Pattaya in Nov I'd be in favor of having you be the OFFICIAL course judge and/or the OFFICAL to impose [smiley=stick.gif] penalties [smiley=stick.gif] for infractions of the rules as well as the protector of the trophy until it's awarded to the winners this year, being of course team [smiley=grins-jump.gif] USA. Subject: Jobs to consider My first job was working in an orange juice factory, but I got canned... couldn't concentrate. Then I worked in the woods as a lumberjack, but I just couldn't hack it, so they gave me the ax. After that I tried to be a tailor, but I just wasn't suited for it ...mainly because it was a so-so job. Next I tried working in a muffler factory but that was too exhausting. Then I tried to be a chef -- figured it would add a little spice too my life but I just didn't have the thyme. I attempted to be a deli worker, but any way I sliced it, I couldn't cut the mustard. My best job was being a musician, but eventually I found I wasn't noteworthy. I studied a long time to become a doctor, but I didn't have any patience. Next was a job in a shoe factory; I tried but I just didn't fit in. I became a professional fisherman, but discovered that I couldn't live on my net income. I managed to get a good job working for a pool maintenance company, but the work was just too draining. So then I got a job in a workout center, but they said I wasn't fit for the job. After many years of trying to find steady work I finally got a job as a historian until I realized there was no future in it. My last job was working at Starbucks, but I had to quit because it was always the same old grind. SO, NOW. . . I'M [smiley=zzz.gif] RETIRED, [smiley=zzz.gif] VACATION IN PATTAYA, HAVE BG's [smiley=gone.gif] CHASE ME AROUND [smiley=gone.gif] TO KEEP ME IN [smiley=bonk.gif] SHAPE, [smiley=bonk.gif] DAILY INTERVIEW BG's AND [smiley=cheers.gif] PAY BAR FINES [smiley=cheers.gif] TO SUPPORT THE LOCAL ECONOMY, AND I DISCOVORED THAT I AM [smiley=angel.gif] PERFECT [smiley=angel.gif] FOR THIS JOB! A man [smiley=leaving.gif] escapes [smiley=leaving.gif] from a prison where he had been kept for 15 years. As he runs away, he finds a house and breaks into it, looking for money and guns, but only finds a young couple in bed. He orders the guy out of bed and ties him up in a chair. I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants [smiley=bonk.gif] sex, [smiley=bonk.gif] don't resist, don't complain, just do what he tells you, just give him satisfaction. I have my suspicions where the coveted “RideHer Cup” trophy is hiding out! ??? I thinks it be a TAXING issue to uncover it’s actual whereabouts. :-/ Possibly some “son-of-a-sea-dog(gie)” is holding this priceless trophy hostage? Or maybe it’s being held hostage somewhere in the “Hilly” areas far across the seas seeking a little bit of “A.M.” sun (fog)? ;D One thing is for sure. . . the trophy will be well [smiley=.gif] protected [smiley=.gif] after this years RideHer Cup 2003 tournament conclusion! Does the phrase, “One if by land. . .Two if by sea,” ring a [smiley=Eyecrazy.gif] “Liberty Bell?” [smiley=Eyecrazy.gif] Maybe this might shine a little, “Light,” so to speak, on where this highly acclaimed and SOT after RideHer Cup trophy will be hanging out following the event this year Regards, ff29 [smiley=devil.gif] [smiley=1luvu.gif] [smiley=1luvu.gif] [smiley=1luvu.gif] [smiley=1luvu.gif] [smiley=1luvu.gif] [smiley=1luvu.gif] [glow=red,2,300] "I LOVE THE FLB BAR." Can I suggest some Rules for the Rideher Cup?
ff29 replied to duece's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
Posted by: saigon_butterfly Posted on: 07/16/03 at 14:59:20 Saigon, half the fun is the watch your caddie's [smiley=yikes.gif] faces [smiley=yikes.gif] and hear their "[smiley=grin.gif] Snickers [smiley=grin.gif] when your [smiley=shame.gif] Knickers [smiley=shame.gif]" are around your ankles. (remember to wear clean underwear. . .or nothing at all) However, I agree with doggie and I’m not in favor of allowing mulligans because of alternate ball and best ball format. But it could make things real [smiley=grins-jump.gif] interesting. [smiley=grins-jump.gif] Here are some of my suggestions for everyone’s consideration: 1) Only be able to purchase up to 4 mulligans before play starts. 2) Be able to only use 2 mulligans per nine holes of play. 3) Cost per mulligan at 100 baht each with money going into the Baht Pool. 4) Only 1 mulligan from tee box only and 1 mulligan from anyplace on course other than tee box. 5) No carryovers allowed. If you don’t use your 2 on the front nine you lose them on the back nine. 6) Opponents can use appropriate (tee box or anyplace) mulligan to make opponets team’s member shoot his or her shot over again if they think their opponent's shot was too good or was just a lucky one. 7) No mulligan can be used against their opponents or for themselves when other prizes are being played for on the shot. (closest to the pin, shortest drive, longest drive, etc) A couple of suggestions for dividing up the Baht Pool: • Two names drawn out of a hat, at random, during the FLB party afterwards for half of the Baht Pool money. One winner for the front nine and one winner for the back nine. (Must purchase 4 mulligans before play starts to be in the Baht Pool drawing) • Baht Pool money could be also be divided equally among the “FLB’s Party Baht Bus Lap Dancers” in the lower lounge. (If Ben can get them to go?) Doggie, Saigon may not have a half bad idea? It could make for some interesting twists. Maybe some other players could offer some constructive suggestion here, pro or con. The more input the more clearly the issue will become. To do or not to do. . .that is the question?? Posted by: Imacze - On: 07/17/03 at 12:07:37 I didn't know I posted it on. . . [glow=red,2,300]"all the threads"[/glow] on this board?? [smiley=hithead.gif] However, I did post it in the non-members area once so non FLB boards members (yet) may also enjoy them? Besides, I want to have the most posts for a [smiley=Eyecrazy.gif] newbie in one day so as to gain higher status amidst my [smiley=Eyecrazy.gif] peers!! [smiley=Eyecrazy.gif] So not to piss off you, Ian, ;D or anyone else [smiley=uh-uh.gif] I'll only post these little known facts, about my European counter parts, once in this thread and let someone else post them elsewhere if they would like?? Here are a few things that are from an article I saw called, "AS SMART AS YOU ARE....I BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW THIS !!" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts. So in old England, when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them mind their own pints and quarts and settle down. It's where we get the phrase "mind your P's and Q's" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Many years ago in England, pub frequenters had a whistle baked into the rim or handle of their ceramic cups. When they needed a refill, they used the whistle to get some service. "Wet your whistle" is the phrase inspired by this practice. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In Scotland, a new game was invented. It was entitled Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden.... and thus the word GOLF entered into the English language. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm sure that A.M. (Mrs Hilly), my wife, and any other women that may what to play golf this year in the FLB's 2nd annual RideHer Cup 2003 will be pleased that the last little known fact, the orginal Scotsmen's concept of the game of GOLF isn't, enforced any longer!! Hope you enjoyed them.
