  1. Today is great! Actually did my beach walk without a mask Eating outside and making the most of it. My monitor tells me it’s 25 and good on beach rd Jomtien Then one of those pick ups with fruit stopped right by my table belching out fumes and a long queue of picky Russians squeezing melons and trying to barter Fuck off!!!!
  2. Let the info' season a while......... I'd still rather transfer one SWIFT a year. 12 months of the swings and roundabouts of exchange rates! I'm neurotic enough as it is.........Plus regular bank charges for comparatively small amounts all add up my boy. Now i'm over 65 I more or less have to self-insure and I currently keep in a separate account 400,000. My plan was to add 50,000 from time-to-time........up to about 700,000. Now it seems we can't go below 400,000 in our main account.....I don't see point of keeping things separate. So I'll carry on saving for the coming calamity..............Understanding that 'birth is a death sentence'........ keep calm and drink my Yorkshire Gold.
  3. On the BBC today.......The water drones....The school kids in facemarks......And the helpful theory that it's just the amount of apps and increased knowledge of the the dangers that's significant......Always been like this....Probably some truth there.
  4. Thanks Jacko........I got this info sent to me by an, 'I told you so' friend who'd had the conniptions over the first reports of changes and when I said it doesn't mention any difference to the seasoned sum.....Well it didn't then.....Well it does now so I expect he'll be happy. We don't have to like ........just have to lump (sum) it. Edit. Be good if we could keep the sum in an account that bares reasonable interest.
  5. It doesn't often happen but my AirVisual air quality app........and my own monitor concur....almost. 92 on the app and 98 on my monitor. So 'moderate' on the app...'unhealthy for sensitive groups' on my tamtop monitor. Looks murky though.
  6. Schools closed in Bangkok........ Kids off until 3rd Feb apparently........ I've started to become a bit neurotic about this.........It's not the PM2.5s.....They'll get in your lungs and blood and kill you.....But it takes a while......It's the fucking PM10s that will almost instantly affect my quality of life and make me suffer ..... until the PM2.5s finish me off. That is it would, had I not bought my air-purifier......(bless it)....Best 22,000 baht I've spent. I've discovered that my nose can cope with say, half a day of breathing shit as long as when I'm home I stick my air-purifier on full blast for 40 mins and bring levels of pollutants that have seeped in under the door down to good levels.....And keep the purifier ticking over at low fan all night. I wake up next day fresh as a daisy and ready for sucking in lungfuls of shit in the gym, a shag somewhere and a meal out by which time my nostrils have had enough. Here I am it's 15:30 something and my day is done. Still it's a good thing to pace yourself.. But like....... I've got a girl coming down from Korat....and I would normally get a nice hotel and shag her brains out. But I have a little hand --held monitor. 99 GB pounds from Amazon. I now know that levels inside the poshest and roughest of hotels that might be girl-friendly are not nostril friendly.......And I'm going to embarrass myself getting all snotted-up. The pollution levels are serious. Really! Pattaya doesn't have it's own monitor....I wonder why? Have to go on Chonburi Lam Chabang and Rayon...... You should all, if not warn your mates at least inform them that the rainy season is the better bet. I can't wait for the downpours.......... PS I don't put my air-con on as much these days and saved 500 bt this month.....Bloody air-purifier will have paid for itself in no time.
  7. Love this...........
  8. I keep a check.....The other day Chang Mai was considerably worse than Bangkok......And consider BKK is in the midst of a pollution emergency.
  9. Just goes to show....... I watch the tennis players at my club sucking it in...............when the air is hazardous ...........Even inside the gym readings are high. I get a running machine as far away from the door as I can........And don't run anymore. Brisk walking is my limit. It seems that with my air purifier working at home and through the night my pea-shooter can deal with being outside when I need to without a problem. Such a relief. Today's the first time ( according to my app and my recent interest) that London is up there with Pattaya. The league table of worst cities are in India, Pakistan, China.......More than double the shit in the air here. For them Pattaya is a Spar.
  10. Gonna be very high next few days.....
  11. Highish today........My monitor and app actually agree. In my condo 13.1 pm2 right now........Switched on my Air purifier 20 mins ago. it's come down from about 30 in that time...... Stood on my balcony and up to 96 pm2s in seconds. My app says 102 today.
  12. Great.......Thanks for that offer though.
  13. My son, who's here on his way back to uni' in Oz, brought with him the 'Temtop' air monitor I ordered from Amazon UK.....(Much cheaper than through LAZADA Thailand). My apartment's readings this morning....... taken 6m away from my air-purifier and bare -in-mind my air-con sucks in dirty air and that therefore my condo isn't ever 'air-tight' .... were PM2s.5.3......PM10s 8.3......... Happily my 'pea-shooter' concurs with these, in the 'GREEN' levels........ Pleased with my expensive air-purifier...........Worth it to me. I'll have a little play around with my monitor outside today......Give you a Jomtien report.
  14. AirVisual.......I've tried a doz this one at least gives an international league table.........
  15. My app which I don’t have complete trust in says improvement from Tuesday. But not into the green.
  16. I think they last a good few weeks.....79 baht I'd get a new one every month.
  17. As you can imagine traffic forces that figure up during the day.
  18. N95 rating would help a lot...79 baht from Fascino...... This PM 2 thing means the particles so small they will get into the blood stream........Can cause really terminal problems. The PM 10s are the larger particles that give make your eyes itch or get up the sinuses lungs etc. If I was on a bike I'd definitely consider it's better to look like a pratt than suck it all in. Though for me with a mask on I look less like a pratt.
  19. I've tried a doz' air quality apps......Pattaya always sits between the Chonburi and the Rayong readings or sometimes the Lam Chabang monitor........They never reflect how bad or good it actually is here.....Or I suspect at those places. It's easy enough to have a monitor positioned here.......I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't site one in a popular tourist destination.......Don't answer that.
  20. Two of the best sensors in Pattaya....ie.... my fucking nostrils have unwittingly been on top of this for a few years. Just I didn't know it or take it seriously when an ENT Dr at Pattaya International told me I was, 'peir pollution' (allergic). Some of you may recall the tv camera 'Buntline Special' stuck up my nose report last year. Well since Sept and the winding down of the rain It's hit again.......My nostrils never lie. Here's some photos which I'll explain. The first is the worst of the regular reading sent me by a retired Dr who has the hand held monitor.........This was some weeks ago......I checked the air quality in the City of London at the same moment and the PM 10s there were only 9. The 2nd photo he sent was of the readings in his condo......Directly above his air purifier..... The 3rd photo is outside my gym yesterday And the last is the machine in my condo.......I'm a convert. I bought an air purifier.....22,000 baht. Worth it to me to have two functional nostrils, at least while I'm home. An hour or so outside doesn't get to me all that much, but If I take exercise outside I'll wear a proper mask. I got it on Monday it took about 3 nights to get my sinuses back to 95% normal.........Such a relief. Below is snot for the squeamish........A photo from last year after a morning blow!! It was like an alien was living inside my nose........This morning nothing. Thank you Nasonex, (daily steroid spray non harmful)......Thank you Regular Sinus rinsing........But mostly Thank you to Daikin's air purifier. PS I do have a scary snot story......But it's Christmas
  21. I said this before ......(But that's never stopped me).....I asked a Chinese man if he called them plats or pony-tails He spat on the floor in disgust and replied, "PONEEE TAIL!! A plat is what I put my plick in every Flyday night!!!"
  22. 'Yes Bashy........be nice to see a picture of you suited and sober' Said from a safe distance.
  23. Yes she was keeping an eye out for you........!! You should try getting her to 'wink you off' .......That made me laugh!!
  24. I'd like to believe that too.......But probably a serious case of tdar fang......Did you recommend her going to 'spec Savers'?
  25. Bushcraft is up at the altar again tomorrow...He might be able to help. He went to Oxford you know? Good luck and best wishes Bashy.....A lovely girl.
