It's funny I was heading along towards Teprayer from Pratumak and in the opposite direction I saw a five/six year old sitting on the front......(his mum behind.).......allowing the child to steer and break but presumably ready to take over. I only noticed because they wobbled round a long curve coming up towards the Big Buddha turn off. Unremarkable. They teach 'em young here. Although I believe in self-teaching. (I got a Vespa when I was 16 and found a quiet mews in London to practice.......Then nearly killed myself following more advanced friends on the Marylebone Rd.....And a fe

Now don't scoff. .... And I'm not recommending this for anyone under 65....And then only for 65 yr olds so susceptible and sympathetic to the odd bout of nostalgia that they will put up with what would be judged nowadays as pretty awful TV...... Over the years on my 'android-box' I've found most of my childhood tv viewing .......From Cowboys to Crackerjack, from Torchy to William Tell........It's all there if you've a mind to search, and the time of course........ I can't shag, eat and drink all day. A few weeks ago a long lost memory turned up out-of-nowhere. Dimly I recalled a ch

Siam Sam's reading lists are so erudite......and varied. I was inspired last trip to Uk to stock up on Classics......Mostly British. There's a bookshop in Penn that's fantastic. Floor to ceiling.........and piles on the floor. It takes half-a-day to have a decent rummage. Universities send maths students there to figure out a formula for guesstimating the stock. I brought back lots of Dickens, tons of PG Woodhouse......A bit of Kipling.....A few of Shakespeare plays...Some Orwell.....Dahl that I hadn't gotten around too. Even some poetry.......(I liked Larkin once).........And a bunch of

Recently....12 'Rules for life' which is great.....Jordan Peterson is my new 'Christopher Hitchens' Different subject matter but that same clarity. A wonderful defence of masculinity and fodder for confronting groupthink and feminism. Oh and the new Bond, that's set before Casino Royal......and the two latest Stephen Leather 'Spider' books.

'Upgrade' was enjoyable.

The facts are confused........She entered on a Swedish passport......then produced and Iranian one. She was told to depart immediately and that was the reason for the stand-off as another long haul with her daughter, she saw, (or used the excuse) that that would be problematic. I guess we won't know the truth of it........Not in Dubai's interest to paint for themselves anything other that a compassionate picture......Not in this woman's interest to claim anything other than victimisation. Interesting charges were dropped and Dubai has picked up the flight cost though. Here's a ta
