So much pain and so much paying for very little gain.

To be honest I don't care too much about the hotel room. I want to spend as little on the hotel room as possible so that I can spend any savings on the girls and the girls would rather that I gave them good money and they are not too concerned about what sort of room I am staying in. There comes a sad realisation after your first couple of trips when you begin to realise that all those people saying that in Thailand Money is No. 1 and that looks do not matter at all....are just talking bunkum. Don't the bars in Ban Chang close early in the evenings e.g. by 1am so would allow plenty of time for getting back to Pattaya.

Secrets is really a guest house rather than a hotel and it has a side entrance.

There is a place in Soi Diamond passage which is open 24 hours and serves both Thai and western food.

Flown twice with Thai and also with Emirates, Etihad, Qatar. The flights for the last 3 were non-direct whereas Thai was direct. It is really not on that these other airlines offer IFE on their non-direct flights of 7 or 8 hours whereas you are stuck on a 12 hour flight direct flight with Thai with nothing, apart from a communal screen in the roof or the stewardesses, to stare at.

The rooms on the lower floors suffer from noise problems from the bar below whilst you need an oxygen mask and some crampons to negotiate the steep steps to the upper floor rooms.

Yep, be prepared for only being able to get some obscure seat in the corner of your favourite go go bar because it is so packed and stumbling over lit fireworks that have been left in the middle of the sidewalk.
