  1. I dont know about the eggs (they are quite small) , but certainly the bacon and sausages are not good quality. and the beans are those Thai baked beans and the tomatoes are tinned. The fried bread is cooked in Tractor oil (just kidding) but lets say, if you compared the full English in Juice Restaurant with CDs you would notice the difference in quality. The Coffee, for instance is freshly brewed ground coffee where as in CD's its a cheap Instant powdered job. They serve freshly squeezed OJ, where as CDs don't. I am not saying that CD;s breakfasts are inedible and they are good value for what they are, but nevertheless he keeps his overheads down, and buys his ingredients cheaply. That is why he can knock out a breakfast for half the price of Juice and many other places. Not only that, he has to compete with the prices of Canterbury Tales and seaside 2 on the same soi who also sell cheap breakfasts/food. Nothing wrong with these places, as such, its just up to the customer and their budget. I have noticed that even Crazy Dave has upped his prices over the last couple of years though But that is still only around £1.45 in English money and you couldn't get a breakfast anywhere in UK for that price. As far as drinks go, its very cheap and a bottle of beer is a bottle of beer where ever you drink it. Its fine if you just want to sit watching TV and drink cheap beer etc, but the surroundings and entertainment are not brilliant and nor are his waitresses. You pay more in many other bars because of the girls and the entertainment factor. He keeps his staff to a minimum and him and his wife do quite a lot of the work, when they are not too pissed to stand up and the wages he pays are very low. That said, you gotta hand it to Dave, he's been there for well over 10 years now, and is still going, where many other bars of that age are long gone. He has got quite a large British expat clientèle and also those who are on budget holidays, so he does OK in terms of volume. He used to be a bit tasty with a sawn off shot gun, back in the day, and retired early to Marbella for a while, before settling in Pattaya but these days he looks a fucking wreck, rarely eats, thrashes hos liver to bits every day and only sleeps about 4 hours a day. I popped in there last summer, while I was waiting for the laundry across the road to finish ironing my shirts. It was about 5 pm and Dave was well hammered already and shouting at the staff in his usual way. He is quite a nice fella, and can be quite amusing to watch, especially when him and his missus are at it. There were a few older guys in there knocking back Samsong Cokes @ 30 baht a throw (from 3 to 8pm getting tanked up for the evening with probably a plate of Shepherd's pie about 6 ish Fuck knows what the rooms are like, but probably not that good I would imagine.
  2. Not surprising really, they must have been played about 60, 000 times at least. he should get someone to bring him over some new box sets of Fools and Horses and Fawlty Towers. Linda's parrot should be able to recite them word for word by now I have not eaten there, since my Shepherds pie arrived with Ice in the middle of it. They probably punched in 1 minute on the microwave instead of 5 minutes.
  3. September 29th 2009 - Breaking News - Pattaya At around 20:30 hrs Colonel Puratin Rhatusacha and his team of officers were called out to investigate a disturbance at Crazy Dave' Bar and Restaurant in Soi Chayapoon, South Pattaya. But this time it was not the customers that were causing trouble but Crazy Dave and his wife Linda. Apparently the couple had been arguing during which Mr Dave called his wife Linda, a scrawny, ugly old slag. Linda, responded by smashing a dish full of Shepherd's Pie over Dave's head, causing a gash to his forehead and covering him with warm Shepherd's pie.. Mr Dave, then picked himself up from the floor in front of shocked customers, kicked his wife full in her Vagina, then slung her Parrot underneath a passing baht bus. There were a number of customers in the bar at the time, eating famous Crazy Dave's budget food and enjoying cheap beer. One customer reported that Dave had been getting progressively drunk since the afternoon, after sacking one of his waitress staff for filling up a Tomato Ketchup bottle with Salad Cream. He became very abusive toward her and reduced the girl to tears. Crazy Linda was outraged to find out that the girl had been sacked when she turned up later, and so the fight began. A regular customer added that "this was the best entertainment they had seen in ages, and much better than the endless repeats shown of Only Fools and Horses at the bar". Unfortunately, Linda's Parrot (named Max) was killed instantly under the weight of the taxi wheels, and both Crazy Dave and Linda were taken to the Police station charged with causing an affray. Both were later released after a heavy fines was imposed and Mr.Dave agreed to serve members of the Pattaya Police with free beer in future. Later both of them attended Pattaya Memorial hospital where Dave received treatment of 8 stitches to his forehead. His wife Linda was examined and found to have an extremely bruised cunt, but no serious injuries. Crazy Dave also promised to buy Linda a new Parrot and pay for a beauty make over at a local salon as a way of apologizing. Dave and Linda have been happily married for 8 years and said that this was only a minor set back in their relationship. Max was later given a full Buddhist funeral for what was left of him and will be remembered fondly. Just kidding, but it could have been a good story

  5. This guy maybe anti social in the sense that he is living in a slightly different dimension to most ordinary farangs. I guess there will be mixed feelings about him. Some will pity him and wish to help him, others will despise him for showing a bad image of a farang, some will use him as a talking point whilst others will find him offensive. From what I have read here and on other forums, it is clear that he does not beg, steal or is a threat to anyone. It could be argued that he is a threat to himself, but he seems to have been living in Pattaya for some time now, almost certainly sleeping rough but strangely surviving, and in his own world, even happy. He could even be an eccentric millionaire for all we know. He certainly gets a lot of attention, in the same way that Glitterman does, for being very different and he is not the image that most westerners would conjure up of a westerner living in Pattaya. If he really wanted to bathe, then he could use the sea, but if he has no fixed abode, then he has either chosen that, or he cannot afford to or no one will allow him in their hotel or guest house. Whether he has mental health problems or not, he is obviously choosing to stay in Pattaya, as has been said, in Germany he would be looked after, and be able to receive some help an support from the state He may well have had a nervous breakdown of some form. If no one is prepared to take him under their wing (assuming that, that is what he wants) and the local BiB are not interested, considering him to be too dirty for custody, then I guess he will remain in Pattaya for the time being. Seeing as Pattaya does not have the inequivalent of Social Services, he is not likely to be sectioned under any mental health act, any day in the future. The main thing, is that he is not hurting anyone else, as far as we know, and its his choice, for as long as he can get away with it. What is for sure, is that I doubt any one here or in general is going to take him to their hotel or house and hose him down, and give him some fresh clothes, take him for a hair cut and offer him accommodation So no doubt until he either disappears or someone offers him some support (assuming that he will accept it) then he will be a regular discussion topic around Pattaya. .

  11. Total cunt. Big man aye ?? lifting up a 50 kilo girl to impress his mate. then dropping her on her head. If that is their idea of fun, good luck to them, but one day they will try it on the wrong person in the wrong place
  12. I rather like it, have been using it for a couple of days now and its certainly different. It reminds me a little of my own skin, discoloured and mottled a yes from me.
  13. I used to go there a lot, especially late afternoon. As I recall, it was owned by a Belgian woman, who was often present at the bar. Shame really. I have passed by many times, but yes, must have gone around 2004/5
  14. It was logical, as the old software is no longer supported. PL changed over a few weeks back, and there was a bit of resistance at first, posts were down for a few days, but most folk of gotten used to it now, and got around some of the layout changes, and been supported with their questions. I have been using it regularly for a few weeks, and I must say, that there are a lot of things that I prefer. It does take a while to sharpen it up and adjust some of the settings, but it is worth the wait IMO. The graphics are better and the new software allows adds and banners to look much better. You tube posting is so much easier, and it looks like nearly all forums have gone over to the new software. Secrets have resisted, but it will come in time. Windows XP will not be supported after 2014. I use it and have resisted W7 but in the end, we will have to go with the Software companies, that drive the business, like it or not. So for me, its a thumbs up, No one likes change, but we also adapt quickly too.
  15. I found int quite amusing too, and I am supposed to be one of the most PC members here, according to some. The joke, was not being derogatory to Jews, in a sense that it was laughing at their suffering. It was a play on words between a Chinaman and a Jew. Do is mean, just that just because of the Holocaust, that no one should ever tell a Jewish Joke ??? Perhaps not about their suffering, but their Surnames is hardly an insult Iceberg, Greenberg etc, what has that to de with genocide. Should we never make jokes about the Japanese, because of Nagasaki or Hiroshima ?? If Jackie Mason had told that joke, it would not have been offensive, in fact, I think it is one of his, if I recall. I don't believe for a second, that the OP is anti Semitic in his intentions, when making the post.
  16. Me too, perhaps it is his personal settings which give you a choice of how you want to see posts/threads and new content. It doesn't work like that for me, There are lot more useful personal settings on the new software, a lot more than there currently are here with the older version. Invision no longer offer support for the current software and it can be a pain in the arse when things go wrong. I was amazed that when PL changed over, it was done in just over an hour and virtually everything in its right place, with a few tweaks needed here and there, and some custom smileys needed re adding. Other than that, it took about a week for members to really get used to it, and now their are very few operational queries from members.
  17. There are simple ways around that. You just click on the strt page and scroll to the bottom and you can click to see all the latest posts, unread and read. It does not take long to get around using the new software and has many add on advantages. I have been using it regularly for the last few weeks and I now prefer it to the old software. Its like buying a new car, not all of the controls are in the same place, but you can still drive it away, and get used to it after a couple of days.
  18. I first came to Thailand around 24 years ago, and it was by accident more than design. It had been on my list of places to visit, and I saw a cheap flight deal at the time and decided to go, alone. TBO, I remember arriving in Bangkok, and I absolutely hated the place, and did not feel comfortable. I got talking to some fellas in a bar and they recommended either Pattaya, Phuket or one of the islands to visit, and said that I would not need to pre book hotels etc I didn't take their advise but saw Hua Hin on the map, only 4 hours away on the bus, so I headed for there. A completely different world, relaxed and laid back. Found a small hotel, and had a great 2 weeks there. I decided to return to Thailand 4 months later, but this time, I read up on Phuket, and also spoke to a mate who had been there. I arrived in Patong, which seemed a perfect combination of bars, sea and sand. I hired a motorcycle and took a drive to Kata and Karon, and much preferred what I saw, so I checked out, put my bag in a tuk tuk and found a really nice bungalow. Was a great location, a few bars, terrific beach and some nice women. I would drive over to Patong maybe every third night for some more full on entertainment I fell in the love with the place, and a few years later, bought a bar off of a friend I had made, at a very cheap price. I took a break from work but did not really intend on becoming an expat. Unfortunately, the drinking every day and the trappings of running a bar, was not for me, and I sold up. It was a fantastic experience though and one that I will never forget. I finally exhausted Phuket, having made a few trips up to Patttaya, and in the end, that became my chosen destination. I have been back to Bangkok several times, and still, do not like it very much. Was OK for a couple of nights with mates, but Pattaya offers the best combination in my opinion. I must say, that since being married, and having had countless trips to Pattaya, I think I have outgrown it to an extent, yet I still get that buzz when I arrive, and it is a sensation, not to be beaten. Sorry for the long winded reply BTW, but just wrote it while I thought about it.
  19. Cabbages and Condoms is quite a nice pace for lunch with a female friend.
  20. I must say, that I very surprised to see the British involved in such violent activities. We are otherwise a very peaceful nation and impeccably well behaved whilst abroad. The poor chap was obviously provoked into rocking the Baht bus, by the driver
  21. The name may change, but the person behind the post is still the same. I think the poster is more likely to be Jill in the Jungle, the famous blogger, than the author of HBW, who was a private detective, not a policeman BTW
  22. They sure look like good ole boys to me
  23. Is it some sort of county fair ?? That looks a bit like Bigyoosa there.
  24. I dont know about recently, but you could eat your dinner off of the floor in the Jade House toilets, in fact I sometimes do.
