  1. dunno if it's ben listed but you promised me by some french bird
  2. i flew aeroflot and once up in the air it was fine. but from booking to taking off was a nightmare. london office changing dates randomly. and trying to charge for the pleasure! i had a barney with them in their office before they relented. gate numbers being randomly changed 1 minute before take off. nazi like stewardesses coming out with bizarre rules. flock wallpaper on the plane walls. a watering can full of hot water used to de-ice the wings. and a size 14 welly to kick the ice of with. brown water coming out of toilet taps in moscow airport. shit filled to the toilet brim in Moscow toile
  3. I'd forgot all about the Stanley Cup. Not seen it since the late 70's. Are the Montreal Canadians still top dog?
  4. I think that's what they want to do. I doubt all those 350 people are showing signs of nanny statism. It looks like it's the airlines aren't helping them reschedule
  5. If you read the story you'll see far from being on welfare or thinking welfare one is a nurse, one works for a cargo co., one's a nursery nurse 2 are actors. They're complaining due to lack of communication from the airlines. no more. We have been stuck here since Saturday last week. Thai Airways tell us nothing. They don't tell their staff anything and check-in girls have been reduced to tears.
  6. I was in there 4 or 5 times last december. The beef tasted like beef then. And they served the burger plain giving you the choice. In fact I seem to recall that being a selling point on the menu: you choose not us. Hope that hasn't policy changed
  7. Rainsberger, I bought this flight a few days ago for october as soon as I saw it. It was noticeably less than I'd seen before. Ethihad are genuine. I've been many times. Beware from London to get the short stop - about 90 mins. Also they're known for changing flight times on outgoing from Lon so double check. I almost missed a flight cos of this. Ebookers October with Etihad from Heathrow-BKK. Good price right now. Beware changing dates by one day can alter price. eg I'm coming back 17/10. 18/10 saw £60-ish increase
  8. Scalawag, Low blow! We invented the sandwich. And curry. Now c'mon everyone eats sandwiches (even the Thais) and everyone loves a curry
  9. A bit oftopic: can anyone explain red pudding to me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_pudding Exactly what's in it? Apparently the Poles do a version but I doubt it's the same as the Scots one
  10. I've never actually had a deep fried mars bar although I've seen them in Newcastle area. And when I lived in Clapham, London my local chippie sold them with a premium price to the middle class clientele who fancied sampling a bit of working class culture. Brown ale bread is nice, though. As for brekkie I had set number 5 today: chips, beans, sausage, egg, bacon and a top mug of milky coffee plus toast
  11. The basics of a fry up are: bacon, eggs, sausage. Thais eat all 3. Thai food is known to be highly nutritious. I therefore conclude that a fry up is nutritious. If only we could get the Geordie specialities Brown Ale Bread and Deep Fried Mars Bars!! [[i had so much food on my mind I posted this in the blood pudding thread by misatke]]
  12. My local Chinese (London SE) does American Fried Rice as do all Chinese in UK seemingly. Seems to be fried rice with unknown pieces of meat thrown in. Whatever's left over I guess

  14. only in the lobby. never noticed it to be any quicker than any other net cafe i went into in pattaya. (ie explorer). and the rooms aren't worth it. my bed sank in the middle. gave my back right gip. only reason hotel gets mentioned on this board is because a member (bigdusa) has an (usually undisclosed) interest in it.
  15. Thanks. The airfare from BKK doesn't bother me regardless. I'm more bothered about how many p4p-ers will be in AC. I don't want it to be rammed.
  16. OMW, Any idea how busy AC is in June? I have a ticket to Bkk but may want to fly on to there. Is it low season there as in LOS?
  17. Just booked as it tied in with my Summer break. £318.61 all in. thanks grs90. only thing missing was a direct link to website. Thanks
  18. Stayed in the Skytop earlier this year. Pluses - easy going staff, net cafe, safe in room, walking distance to big c , soi 2, 7/11, bank. Cons - bar complex right next door = noise to 2am when music stops but sound of pool playing etc often continues. my bed was dodgy.
  19. Pat, Used my Woolwich-issued Electron debit card at the Bangkok Bank ATM on Pattaya 2nd rd no problem a few weeks ago. Shops - I don't know.
  20. i'll give you an exact answer in case anyones still interested. started my stopwatch when i closed my RG room door (room 501, i think), stopped it when i got to 7/11 on walking street. Time less than 12 mins. Didn't speed walk, didn't mosey.
  21. Not sure why anyone would describe the Grace as a shithole. I've stayed there for years. 1060B room is fine. Large room, furnishings ok (showing age a bit) AC works, quiet rooms, hot shower, fridge, phone, cable tv. massage/haircut on site. snooker, bowling. yep the ladies are larger - arabs like them like that. Want smaller? NEP is 2 mins away as is pharmacy, bank, familymart, 7/11 As for the Arabs. Never had a problem in 6 years. They keep themselves to themselves. Like me. I only talk when I'm in the lift. Ask them where theyre from - UAE and Bahrain were most popular. Met an Israe
  22. I like the RG. Have stayed twice and will stay again. I love it But, let's get it right. Some rooms DO have 2 beds pushed together, though. I think I was in room 502. It was stupidly made up to look like it was one bed which is an accident waiting to happen. I didn't realise until I put my hand through the gap by mistake. Fortunately, I stopped myself falling through. It could have been serious as Doolish found out. I found my food to be okay but my BG refused to eat her tom yam as it was "no good". I've known her over a year and this is the only time she's refused to eat Thai food.
  23. Don't stay here. It used to get excellent reviews and I can see why imagining what it must have been like years ago. Stayed with my wife last year when we arrived late in pissing down rain. Horrible looking room, horrible old carpet, ceiling light, hanging wonkily, was bare bulb with bad wiring and hole in ceiling around it. For some reason it wasn't in centre of ceiling but along window wall meaning curtians couldn't be fully closed in case of fire. Hallways with dirty threadbare carpet with muddy footmarks all over them. Horrible.
  24. I've stayed here lots of times. No problem with the Arabs who keep themselves to themselves. I make a point of talking to the ones who can speak English when I get in the lift. They're all there for sanuk. Israelis stay there too. Few farangs. The desk girls are efficient although I find the Arabs annoying with their constant barging in when you're speaking to someone. You can store luggage there long term. The rooms are okay but showing their age (I stay in the 1080B rooms). As a Falang you'll be put on the floor which is bothered by lift noise (unless there's rooms elsewhere). T
  25. Cess, I'd back up what Mats says. I'm after the rock version of Where Are You (which is probably the one you've heard if you frequent beerbars), which is a truly great song, but the versions on RCA hits Vols 1 and 2 (I bought both) are inferior, nothing like the rock one. In fact a new rock version was doing the rounds when I was in Pattaya this Summer which has had a guitar added similar to the guitar at the start of 999's "Emergency". If anyone knows where I can get this version, please post.
