  1. Flew EVA on several occasions and always made use of the Yotel on return to LHR, only about £60 for nights sleep and catch the first BMI to the city in the morning. Check it out, pretty cool cabin hotel, very comfy and quiet. Bit by the business bug myself. Have just booked Qatar for the first time for my March trip, got a surprisingly good deal for Business at £1550 return LHR - BKK by booking direct. For what is billed as a 5 star airline I'm impressed at price, I was normally paying this price for EVA who are now looking over £2k.
  2. Don't think anyone answered this. It's on 3rd road. Best way I can give directions is the route I would take. Turn off soi Buakhao at Oasis, and follow what I believe is Chaolem Phrakiat 23 (see google maps) to 3rd road - once at the junction it's just on the opposite side of the road - prefer Lolitas as an establishment but the girls at Bliss are better.
  3. Yes, this time I was handed a pass before landing. But on my last two flights with them, March 11 and November 10 I wasn't. Always thought this was strange for a C class ticket but just accepted it. Was fast tracked ok on returns to LHR. So I paid for this service not thinking I was going to get a fast track pass. I wouldn't get it again. Felt like a right prat. Was met getting off the plane by girl in yellow and placed on the buggy by myself. As we trundled along the airport with her beeping the horn to get everyone out of the way I couldn't have felt any more a prat. Old people and the l
  4. The main construction is finished on the adjacent hotels but the state of the road is appalling. Walking from second road down to the hotel is ok, but the concrete surface is badly torn up. From Sea Me Spring to beach road is a construction site. They're basically digging up the entire road and putting in a big storm drain. So no need for alarm in the morning, the pile driving will be enough to get you up. I'm booked in for my duration using Agoda so pretty fecked. If I knew the state of the road and construction on same I would have avoided. Nice hotel though, cannot fault it and the staff ha
  5. Depends on the airline. I fly business out of Heathrow on EVA, fastback at Heathrow but nothing at the BKK end.
  6. I wouldn't do it, to me no different than picking up a girl long time for the night, as you're walking through the lobby she meets another bloke and exchanges words. After the initial nights activities you're about to get some sleep when she informs you she's heading to the room next door for a couple of hours cause the guy she met wants some short time. I wouldn't be happy with that, I've paid the bar fine, I expect her company for the duration. What deal has this guy possibly negotiated for the two weeks, I wouldn't mess with that. Respect thy fellow monger, arrange to meet her after his tim
  7. This one looked good to me, have decided to give it a go and booked. Will report in 14 days time . I fly in on EVA premium laurel but they don't offer you any fast-track at the BKK end. To get off that business cabin for a hike to immigration and a very long stand is always a pain in the arse. 1300 baht extra, what the hell, it's a holiday after all.
  8. My advice, stick to the room safe. Bringing an armoured briefcase automatically advertises the fact you've got something valuable and are trying to protect it. Low key is best.
  9. Another highly paid 'professional.' Trying to bully the umpire with all that talk, and no doubt the other player could hear as well. Was it a case of challenge me again and I'll make an even bigger deal of it?
  10. Sorry to hear about your experience. Some good advice above. Shit that this can happen to anyone, especially a bloke by himself. For me this will signal when the party is over in Pattaya for the falang. When he walks up to the likes of Happy to be told this very message. Will it ever happen? Hope not.
  11. Would also recommend traveller cheques as opposed to a big wad! Exchange rate works in favour of sterling cheques as opposed to cash. Its not much more but if your bringing a couple of thousand it makes a difference. Don't make the mistake of the prepaid currency cards. I though this was a great idea and used one on the last trip. The exchange rate at ATMs was crap, worse than cash or travellers cheque plus you've got the added 150 baht ATM fee. Lost a few thousand Baht that could have been better spent elsewhere!
  12. In the words of Dr Evil "How about no! You crazy ..... bastard." Every girl I tell about Thailand swoon with the thoughts of white sand beaches and palm trees. Romantic notions of "The Beach". You sure this isn't your girlfriends thoughts? Sure he was once one of the lads but he's with me now. Sure his mates can run off and play with the girls but he's with me now. What about the fathers cover? Have you asked what he's been telling the wife? Will the daughter want to visit that orphanage beside the golf course which obviously has a picture of him on the wall from all the donation
  13. A fax machine, how quaint! It's funny how this technology has remained in service worldwide to this day.
  14. Anyone know if the rooms at Evergreen wing have proper walk in showers, would seriously consider this place for next trip. This is something that puts me off rooms at the LKs across the road.
