  1. Exactly Paps...... Unless you're on a "tour" of the area nobody is going to visit twice if the first experience was bad. Too far out of the way.
  2. Thats outrageous thats its gone up to 59 baht............ Bastards kept it at 50 baht for 8 years, and then over the course of 5 years its gone from 55 to 59 baht....... Totally shocking..... Best value for money food by a country mile in Pattaya.
  3. Watched most of it and near the end they wheeled out this "Prince" whom I'd never heard of and throughout the programme introduced famous chefs from Thailand that nobody else had heard of either.
  4. And the Carlton is 700 baht right now for email advanced reservations !!
  5. Just have a look at Baccy and Booze prices in general and check that you can purchase this sort of goods would be good....thanks
  6. I really cant see too many people staying there...... Went on and tried a dummy booking and the options whilst I suppose useful for some, just turned me off considering it in the future. With the add ons its more expensive than other hotels in the area. You could stay at the Carlton around the corner (if you can call the Carlton a hotel these days !!) for 300 baht less a night.
  7. Qatar Qmiles have responded but not very helpful. Redemption rates depend on your card status and type of product purchased and these details are displayed at the entry to the shops.
  8. I spent 82,000 miles in the Etihad online shop in 2009 when I knew it was unlikely I could use them, and I got 6 different items including Ferrari jacket for my eldest and top end watch amongst other stuff...... If Qatars redemption rate is as generous your miles should go a long way
  9. Just browsing yesterday on the usual flight consolidators and Sri Lankan was coming in at £448 for middle March for 2 month ticket. Not bad at all !! Inbound quite a wait but I'd do it.
  10. Just received an email announcing that Airmiles from Qatar can now be redeemed for all items within their Duty free shops at Doha on outbound and inbound transits...... I've had 32,000 miles which will expire this year so that will no doubt buy a fair stack of goodies....... It doesn't give the redemption rate within the email so have mailed them and will add to this thread later.
  11. Ok thanks for responding. At the moment I've saved the few websites I use with a VPN on Firefox which works fine. As its totally free I can put up with the minor inconvenience.
  12. I know Paul well in that we met through a mutual friend from Bristol firstly in the mid 1990's........Its not my place to tell what I know, but the above post describing him as a very positive guy is very true. I can only offer my surprise likewise that's he's selling up....
  13. Am I too suspicious in believing that the whole shooting match was a big set up to launch a big grudge match between the British Bruisers, with the winner getting a rematch against Klitschko ??
  14. All very well but DHL then run the risk of the customer declining delivery if outrageous customs duties levied, and somehow I cant see Thai customs refunding for non acceptance !!
  15. Downloaded VPN from Anchorfree the same as I use on other laptop, but as I'm using Chrome on this one as opposed to Firefox (after initial problem) I find that as soon as I activate the shield whilst working perfectly normally, the Browser switches to Firefox..... I posted on Thaivisa same query with little response other than one guy having same problem with his browser switching to Internet Explorer. Anyone recommend a Chrome friendly VPN ?? Will pay if its required. Thanks.
  16. Etihad has specials on now, spring and summer avoiding the peak periods at £469 off Netflights, Southall Travel, Westeast Travel and a host of others, but need to book by 20th February.
  17. Never personally flown or heard of them but announced today the biggest ever Commercial order from Boeing according to Reuters....... I don't have a link yet but that must comprise a lot of motors !!
  18. Cracking pictures-amazed at the Central rd pic of 1986 looking up towards Sukumvit (at least I think it is !) Surprised at the amount of development already there....
  19. No wasn't worth bothering about. If I thought that had been the issue from minute one, would have deleted immediately........just having a look at the free Anti virus stuff online now.
  20. Admiral Ken I think you asked if I could post on a resolution re issue. Cousin came around a little earlier whose bit of a computer buff and explained problem to him (In the interim Google Chrome had suffered same problem). He checked all the settings which were correct and said that 99% its a fault with the Mcfee Anti virus, and if we uninstall the programme it would rectify the situation. The laptop had been a "no fault" return to Argos so possibly the reason it had been returned before. It did indeed rectify problem, but am now without the Anti virus (it was pre loaded software) so
