Any suggestions for restaurant with seaview
keyman replied to groover's topic in Restaurants and food
Rim Talay Restaurant is right on the beach at Wongamat. Naklua Soi 18. Just head towards Naklua from the Dolphin roundabout and after about a mile you'll see a big sign on the left directing you to it. If you get off a baht bus there and walk down the road about 400 metres or so. The road will bear round to the right with a narrower road going straight on, take this road as it takes you down to the beach and the restaurant. They also have a free bike/trike thingy with seats for 4/6 at that point to take you there and afterwards will take you back to the main road. I ate there last week and the food was good and they had a 2-piece band playing in the background, not over the top so conversation levels are maintained. You are actually right by the beach and no traffic noise, just the waves gently lapping at the shore! I might have some pics and load them later. Wasn't crowded and well worth a look. KM -
Amir Khan is fighting in LA tonight in what is described as a 'must win' battle, having lost his last two fights. Does anyone know a decent bar that will be showing it tomorrow and what time? Anyone fancy meeting up for a beer to watch it? Should be a good scrap! KM

2 years ago I had to change my Thai Airway return ticket and bring forward the date. Went into Beach Road office and they changed it at no cost and got me the 'exit' seat with the extra legroom too. They may not have charged me as, at the time, I was bandaged from ankles to thigh and shoulders to wrists due to a scuba diving incident and they took pity on me!! KM

Gary I think you missed the part about my travel insurance DOES cover me for medical cover. i know I'm not bullet proof, but I am an experienced biker who rides thousands of miles a year on a much bigger bike than a 125. I'm also experienced in riding in Patts as well. I've already ran a thread about biking in Patts - this one is purely about the insurance, but thanks for your contribution. CT, thanks for your help and I'd appreciate it if you come up with the details of how to get it. KM

Err, Poolhustler is who I rent from, so the first statement is from him! My travel insurance covers me up to 125cc bikes for medical and personal liability, hence I don't go for the huge bikes like the 150cc's CT, where can I get that cover from and can I get it for a bike I'm renting rather than owning? Thanks guys KM

I'm coming out to Pattaya next week (Yahoooo!!!) and intend renting a bike again. However I've noticed that the bike insurance from the hirer states "Our bikes are only covered by the third party government insurance which you need to tax the bike." I contacted AA Insurance in Patts to see if they can offer cover, who replied "Thank you for your inquiry but I am sorry, insuring a rented bike for 3 weeks is not possible". Any idea who rents with proper insurance or where I may be able to get stand alone insurance? The company who I rented from before, who were very good I might add, unfortunately doesn't give that extra cover and therefore I would be liable for any damage or loss to the bike. Hopefully this will also be useful to anyone else who is renting a bike for their jollies to check what cover they have - no good finding out after the event!! Many thanks guys KM

I watched it in the UK a couple of days ago. I consider Daniel Craig a more believeable Bond than say Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan, because he looks the part. He looks like he can handle himself, rather than relying on just good lucks to win the day. As for Skyfall - good film, well worth going to see - IMHO! Keyman

As TC said, they don't have a website, but googling them will get contact details. There is no parking for cars in front of the hotel, just space for bikes. Keyman

New Cherry Bar Opening Party - 15th September
keyman replied to Hammer's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Sorry I can't make it tonight, Adam, but I'm currently sat at the airport overindulging on Thai Airways hospitality. I'll be back in a couple of months so I'll call in again then. Have a great night tonight! Keyman -
There's no fitted furniture, so it's bolted to the floor. Not ideal I grant you and only big enough for wallet, camera, phone, etc, and certainly not big enough for a laptop or netbook. Keyman Edit: They also have safety deposit boxes in reception but I can't recall how big they were or how accessible timewise they were.

To be honest I used it as a bolthole in town, but the times I was there the noise from Beach Road was not excessive, especially with the patio doors closed. Keyman

A few pics of this hotel just off Beach Road. Costs were 1,000 Baht or 1200 Baht if you want the sea view. Free wi-fi in the room, no breakfast. Friendly staff and 'guest' friendly. Very clean place. The stairs were a bit steep if you have problems, but fine otherwise. Space for parking bikes in front of (small) reception. No pool but does have a sun deck (bearing in mind you're facing the beach!) Good size fridge and a small safe, but you need to lie on the floor to access it!! (The safe, not the fridge!) THe hotel is literally 300 metres from Walking Street, so a good little base. Apologies if the pics are too big across the page. I'm using a netbook which makes it difficult to judge if they fit or not. I've not found any reviews for this place anywhere so I hope this is of some use for BMs. Keyman

I was in Pizza Big just the other night and it was as good as always - well worth giving it a go. Keyman

Best place to watch Grand Prix?
keyman replied to keyman's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
No safety cars!!! Anyway, thanks for all the advice guys. I decided to give Armageddon a crack but when I arrived they had golf on. However just up the road on the opposite side I saw another bar had it on big screens so watched it there - good race and good result too! Thanks again for your help fellas. Keyman -
Apologies if in the wrong forum. I'm looking for somewhere to watch the Belgian Grand Prix this evening and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where to go? I'm based over in Naklua (but happy to travel into town if its a good bar) and I know the Sportsmens bar will have it on but I was wondering where else might have it on and preferably on a big screen! Many thanks guys Keyman

Whereabouts is the Blues Factory? I've just arrived this morning so this sounds great for tonight! Keyman -
I'll be back in Patts again the week after next. I've already sorted my bike for around town, but I was wondering if anyone knows of anyone in town who arranges bike tours? I don't mean around town but out of town on decent size bikes? I do a lot of ride outs in the UK and toured Europe last year, so again, I'm not looking at this from inexperience, just something different to enjoy on my jolidays Thanks guys Keyman

Great pics, Billions. The thing about WS is that you have a virtually unlimited and always changing supply of things/people to snap!! Keyman
