  1. All bikes brake front and rear, but some have linked brakes so that both sets are operated at the same time, whether you use front or rear brake levers. and yes it matters! If you brake hard on just the front brake you could end up going over the handlebars! KM
  2. When I ride out there I rent a Honda PCX 150cc. If you're a big lad it might suit you better than some of the lighter bikes. I would suggest renting different ones for a week at a time until you find the one you feel most comfortable with. They're cheap enough. The PCX also has a bit more space under the seat than some and I believe some models you can get uprated suspension, but try different ones for a while before you consider buying. Good luck! KM
  3. I've had brekkie at the I-Rovers a couple of time this trip and, although good value, it was never hot enough. Barely above warm. Tropical Berts are pretty good on Soi 6/1 and also at Lewinski's on Soi 13/3? KM
  4. It's Christmas morning and you're arguing/discussing/fighting over bloody chips! 4 pages! Give it a rest and move on, guys!!
  5. Normal service has been resumed!! Apparently they had taken some of the concrete barriers away and replaced them with moveable metal barriers but also left a large gap that bikes could fit through, although I never saw anyone ride through them. This was to facilitate them erecting a picture of the King and have now closed the gap and replaced all the concrete blocks around the roundabout. All is well with the world! KM
  6. Thanks ttk I posted my problem on another website and they also told me it is likely to be a boot problem ( NOT jackboot! ) and also I would need the disks. I'll have to check that out out when I get home. KM
  7. Give a guy a uniform? Polish my jackboots? What are you - 12? I don't get a uniform for helping voluntarily mod a website. I never raised the issue of being a mod anywhere on this thread, so why have you? if you feel you can't answer because I'm a mod, then don't bother. It seems you like to give advice to everyone to the n'th degree to show how clever you are. Well, congratulations, you've very clever. Feel better now? There's no point changing a thread title once the topic has begun just to prove your point, whatever that might be. Anyone who searches using those terms will be able
  8. Actually, we're talking about how to fix my netbook, which seems to have slipped your mind as you have gone completely away from that idea. I only wish you had spent as much time into researching sorting that out, instead of showing how clever you are at proving someone else wrong and you right. So - getting back to the original problem - how to fix my netbook or where to get it fixed? Thank you to GeeGee for answering the original question, although I haven't managed to get a resolution through that site yet, although it looks like it's my only option at the moment!
  9. I've now bought the Macbook Pro with retina display as it's cheaper than the UK. However I'm still looking for advice for fixing my netbook or where to take it - any ideas guys? Thanks KM
  10. Yep I checked the item codes and they match except for the last part MD761TH/A here at 41,900 baht MD761B/A in UK 1129.00 - @ 58708 baht at 52 bahts to the pound I take it the last part of the codes is TH/A - Thailand/American, B/A - British/American. Just a guess though! (Different keyboards?) KM
  11. I have an ASUS Eee pc netbook which has decided it doesn't want to boot up! When i turn it on it tells me "boot booster doesn't work". It then goes comes up with options to either "launch startup repair" or 'start normally'. If I launch the startup repair it says something like downloading/fixing files (can't remember what precisely) then it just shows a black screen and nothing changes. If I start normally I again get a black screen but it will show the cursor on it which is moveable. I'm currently in Pattaya, so if anyone knows where I can take it to get fixed I would be very grateful
  12. My! My! Dont we get spiky when prodded!! you're absolutely right it was me who posted that, however it was you being the pedant about how long is spent discussing the 'merits'. and like you, I dont give a shit about you either. KM
  13. Another one of your more irrelevent posts from over 23,000. Why do you have the urge to post on every single thread on this site??? KM
  14. God! Why are some people so picky and anal about what is written on these forums????? If you really wanted me to be absolutely precise on exactly how many minutes I could wait over a holiday period discussing the rights and wrongs of riding a bike in Pattaya with a thai cop, including trips to police stations either myself of by sending someone else, then waiting around for them to come back, then yes, it could add up to hours if stopped often enough or not being anywhere near a police station or a MTB to take me or the fine to the cop shop. How far is 'not near'? How long is 'a few minut
  15. I've been stopped a few times when out on a bike. Each time I show my IDP and colour photocopies of my passport and UK driving licence. Everytime I've showed them I've been pretty much been waved on. One time I was stopped and they were happy with all my docs, but an english speaking tourist police came over and advised me that I needed to make sure the bike tax disc was up to date (which it was) if I was renting, but no problems at that time. Another time I was stopped on Beach Road. The copper was obviously looking for a pay out, but when he saw I had all the docs and was wearing a helmet,
  16. .........with the Panasonic, not enough exposure, I'm afraid! KM
  17. try Base Camp or Mapsource. I use both when plotting routes for my sat nag. Both free. KM
  18. Quote from your website - but unfortunately it doesn't make sense!! "blood of driving and futuristic?" "Effulgent subdivision?" "wet cooled h2o mechanism????" KM
  19. in the UK there is a new scam whereby someone flashes their lights to indicate to you that they will let you out, then deliberately hit you! It's known as flash for cash. When a car flashes their lights the ONLY thing it means is their lights work! I was told when riding your bike, even in the UK, treat everyone as if they are trying to kill you and develop a bubble of safety around you, so that when someone suddenly pulls out on you, you had already anticipated it. Moreso in Thailand. It's never stopped me having fun on a bike though!! KM
  20. "Pattaya's leading bike rentals" "a New Motorbike rental business in Pattaya ," How does that work, then? A new business but already ahead of the pack?????? KM
  21. Depends if the feather is stuck to the front of the mack truck when it hits you......................... KM
  22. Yep - someone jumped at the end of March/beginning of April when I was out there. Farang if I remember right. KM
  23. Well done Mr Fiend! Now Martin has more time to chill out and hang around a few more bars ! KM
