  1. Another one of your more irrelevent posts from over 23,000. Why do you have the urge to post on every single thread on this site??? KM
  2. God! Why are some people so picky and anal about what is written on these forums????? If you really wanted me to be absolutely precise on exactly how many minutes I could wait over a holiday period discussing the rights and wrongs of riding a bike in Pattaya with a thai cop, including trips to police stations either myself of by sending someone else, then waiting around for them to come back, then yes, it could add up to hours if stopped often enough or not being anywhere near a police station or a MTB to take me or the fine to the cop shop. How far is 'not near'? How long is 'a few minutes'? Does it matter? Does it detract from the meaning of the post? Enough explaining from me to a pedant, as soon I'll be going to work so that I earn some money as soon I'll be travelling to Pattaya. Not precise enough? Tough shit! KM
  3. I've been stopped a few times when out on a bike. Each time I show my IDP and colour photocopies of my passport and UK driving licence. Everytime I've showed them I've been pretty much been waved on. One time I was stopped and they were happy with all my docs, but an english speaking tourist police came over and advised me that I needed to make sure the bike tax disc was up to date (which it was) if I was renting, but no problems at that time. Another time I was stopped on Beach Road. The copper was obviously looking for a pay out, but when he saw I had all the docs and was wearing a helmet, he just walked off looking very grumpy! At the same time there was another farang who had been stopped who didn't have everything they asked for and looked even more pissed off than the copper did!! Whether you need an IDP or not, for peace of mind I would suggest having one. I'm on holiday to enjoy myself, not spend hours discussing the merits of thai law with a thai copper, who would nearly always have the upper hand! KM
  4. .........with the Panasonic, not enough exposure, I'm afraid! KM
  5. try Base Camp or Mapsource. I use both when plotting routes for my sat nag. Both free. KM
  6. Quote from your website - but unfortunately it doesn't make sense!! "blood of driving and futuristic?" "Effulgent subdivision?" "wet cooled h2o mechanism????" KM
  7. in the UK there is a new scam whereby someone flashes their lights to indicate to you that they will let you out, then deliberately hit you! It's known as flash for cash. When a car flashes their lights the ONLY thing it means is their lights work! I was told when riding your bike, even in the UK, treat everyone as if they are trying to kill you and develop a bubble of safety around you, so that when someone suddenly pulls out on you, you had already anticipated it. Moreso in Thailand. It's never stopped me having fun on a bike though!! KM
  8. "Pattaya's leading bike rentals" "a New Motorbike rental business in Pattaya ," How does that work, then? A new business but already ahead of the pack?????? KM
  9. Depends if the feather is stuck to the front of the mack truck when it hits you......................... KM
  10. Yep - someone jumped at the end of March/beginning of April when I was out there. Farang if I remember right. KM
  11. Well done Mr Fiend! Now Martin has more time to chill out and hang around a few more bars ! KM
  12. They dont release those seats for pre-booking as far as I recall, as they cannot allocate them to children or the infirm. if there is an emergency then the people in those seats need to help release the doors. if you pay the budget price, ie not accruing airmiles, then they wont give you an option on the exit seats. This is only based on my experiences, so dont quote me as gospel! KM
  13. I always turn up early for my flight and at check in I ask if they can change my seat for one with extra legroom. More often than not they will give me a seat by the exit doors, so no seat in front of you and you can stretch out. It's worth hanging around the airport for a couple of extra hours if it means I get more legroom for a 11 hour flight! KM
  14. I don't recall seeing a lift and from what I recall of the reception area I don't think there is one. KM
  15. Short - Jack posted this over 7 years ago! KM
  16. I exchanged some cash at the airport (Siam Commercial bank) so I had enough to pay for my taxi and and got 42.46 baht to the pound. Later the same day I went to an exchange booth just up from Cherry bar and got 44.75! KM
  17. There's a lot of construction being carried out at the start of Beach Road for a few hundred yards. They appear to be widening the road. I doubt it would bother anyone down that end of the town at night, but daytime it causes traffic problems and probably a lot of dust, along with construction traffic trundling around and may or may not use Sois 1, 2 or 3? KM
  18. I'll be there, Dave. Looking forward to it KM
  19. I went to the Bike Show in London a couple of months ago and we never had cuties like that there!! Great pics!! KM
  20. Oh Gabor Gabor. You're such a woose behind the keyboard. I'm in Pattaya now. Give me a time and place and I'm quite happy to meet and discuss my knowledge and experience of moderating. Are you man enough? Bring as many friends as you deem necessary, it bothers me not, but at the end of the day, be a man. Keyman
  21. 'My regards to your wife' when she is no friend of yours (anyones wife) is like a veiled threat along the same lines of 'I know where you live'. On their own they are innocent remarks and offend nobody at all. Said in these contexts everyone can see it is not a straightforward comment. Once rumbled the poster tries to defend the indefensible. Just for background info only, I moderate a forum (nothing thai related) and we try to keep the rules short and as simple as possible. We cannot regulate every sentence written on a forum with a new rule, so we make simple rules and then use common sense and 'moderators discretion' to cover everything else. If a poster knows where we draw the line, but keeps walking up to it and pissing over it, then we use Mods discretion and in his (or her) individual case, we move the line and he discovers he can't beat us with our own stick (rules) anymore as he becomes an ex-member. Sometimes for a short spell, sometimes permanently depending on how many previous transgressions. At the end of the day members only remain members at the choosing of the owner or to his delegated moderators. We. the members are not owed a place here or any forum. We are allowed to stay if we can behave decently to others and if we can't then it's goodnight Vienna! Just my two pennorth! KM
  22. I've seen some of those as well, even using Harley tractors, however that is a whole different ball game when the bike has fallen on you and you are not in a position to get any leverage!! KM
  23. I view via the 'new content' button, but then when I click on a 'preview this topic' button it either ignores the action or jumps up to the top of the page, but doesn't open the topic! It's been like that since yesterday for me. KM
  24. Pattaya Nua by the Dolphin roundabout in the trees. they make a hell of a racket!! KM
  25. Don't agree with the sewerage smell at Rim Talay. We ate there last week and pass it virtually every day and don't notice any 'unnatural' aromas. There is a large drain next to it which used to be pretty pungent but they've been working on it and ordinarily there is no issue. I agree there may be when the sewerage system is overloaded due to the rains, but that could be said of many establishments around the town, including PBG! Just my opinion, of course KM
