  1. Excellent-a 12MN departure-hopefully I can rush through Immig & Customs.Thanks FS for the link. edit:Wishful thinking-my flight arrives at 1145p.
  2. MM,how many times have we seen,"There was a serious storm last night that overwhelmed the drainage systems all over Pattaya"? It just amazes me that storm drainage is an afterthought.Even the drains in place are covered for various reasons,some by wood to make it easier to ride your scooter over or to keep the odor to a minimum.Or are full of debris that is rarely removed.I suppose it will only get worse though.Good video. In my 18 months there,I have sat in restaurants and watched the water quickly rise to cover 75% of scooters along 2nd Rd.I'm sure it's just as bad in other locations.I rem
  3. Thanks for that update as I was hoping for 12MN bus.
  4. Last I checked,the Mercure and PBR were adjacent to one another or at least w/i shouting distance.Looks like a fair deal though.
  5. There have been some monumental folds/comebacks in Ryder Cup history but has any team had 3 players lose the final 2 holes on the final day to lose the Cup?I believe the answer is no.
  6. Is this near the Pattaya Bay Resort and the construction?
  7. Nice to see US $$$$ put too good use again.I flew into Utapao in 1972 on an R&R from Okinawa to visit,you guessed it.,Pattaya. A favorite quote from wiki,"The closeness of the U-Tapao USAF base to Pattaya during the Vietnam War era is frequently cited as one of the main reasons for the development of prostitution in that town". Always one of my favorites.
  8. What's even faster than catching it there is to walk 1 block toward Jomtien and stop directly in front of the eyeglass shop.There you won't have to wait until the bus fills before you go like the corner stop.Many busses pass the shop and many are not packed like the ones waiting for a full load which can take some time.
  9. I agree with that assessment.I also liked to rooftop pool which of course some complained was too small,which is adjacent to the restaurant.Breakfast for 2 was a nice touch and no need to leave the property. Now I need a new place for December.Maybe Residence Garden for a week.Only spent 1 night there a while back.
  10. PBR is off the radar due to closeby construction.I will be looking elsewhere for the 1st time for the week prior to Christmas.
  11. Thanks for the heads up.Maybe he had a worse experience than we thought.If so many thought the hotel was bad,why was the occupacy so high for so long?
  12. Some spineless MORON chips in w/a thumbs down when I say I'll find a new hotel for my visit.I have been a supporter of this hotel since my 1st visit.How fucked up is this thumbs up & down system anyway.
  13. Very cool,thanks. The e-mail I just received from AA listed Dtac-Every 40 THB = 1 BIG Point. Just type BIG, follow by your BIG Shot ID and send to 18066. I figure Dtac users will be all over this as Dire Straights says,"Money for Nothin' and Chicks for Free".
  14. Tom,does it get us points in BIG,Air Asia's FF program?I haven't checked but I thought you may know off-hand.I would assume so.I see Dtac is listed now for BIG points.
  15. That changes everything.I need my sleep & what little of my sanity is left.I'll find new digs for the pre-Christmas week.Thanks for the heads up.
  16. That's amazing.I've never heard a word of spanish in all my time there.Except when I order Mexican food.
  17. Along those lines,on my World Airways 707 charter from OAK to Okinawa in 1971,I was seated in a middle seat between a young mother holding a baby and a CIGAR SMOKER! ;
