Got an email from my friend this morning. They refunded him twice !! yet his resrvation on the Thai site is still live and confirmed, as it is on Amadeus. He says he'll leave it for a week to see what happens then if nothing happens he'll give them a ring and sort it out. Problem is Opodo's call centers are mainly in India.

Sorry I just cannot trust BA even in Club Class. If they treat Economy with such utter contempt I doubt they treat club pax much differently. I have travelled BA 4 times. 3 times involuntarily, On all occasions I was treated like shit. The aircraft were old and worn, seat condition and seat spacing was appalling, the food equally so, the aircraft were just not clean with food smeared on the seat back screen in one case and in another a filthy toilet, and though I am not homophobic just do not like being attended to by mincing little queens who threw a girly strop and minced off when I refused

Opodo strikes again. Friend of mine has just booked to Bangkok with them. Their system refused his card, dropped him back to their entrance page. He booked online again.........yep. they charged him twice. Hes now got to wait for the refund.

Actually from the UK not so. Checking flights yesterday Thai International are now selling at the same price they were in 1989 ! in many case the prices from Londo to Bangok are cheaper now than they were in the 80's. Checking some of my records I was selling Thai in 1989 for £475 which is around the price they are selling for now in September/October

I fly direct from London and though I can afford club class just wont pay that much just for the priviledge of a metal fork and spoon, a mini tablecloth and a bit more legroom. Like I said just drop a sleeping pill after dinner then wake up in Bangers!

Result ! Got an email from Opodo today apologising for their website. It shouldnt charge any extra for using a Debit card and having checked the site just now they have indeed changed the website.

Sounds like a flight I had with Garuda in the 80's. Flight was supposed to be London-Paris-Bangkok. It ended up London-Paris-Amsterdam-Bangkok and we were kept on the plane in Amsterdam for over 2 hours. Thank heavens they dumped their London Bangkok flights. Phillippine werent much better, 6 hour delay at Gatwick. I use, and have used this man to get me grom Bangkok to Kanchanburi several times as well as my wife using the same service. I have also used hi several times from bangkok to the Airport and Vice Versa. Hes reliable and not expensive. He does do Airportt-Pattaya and VV. The guy has never let me or my wife down as he is a distant relative of my wife. Ive always preferred renting bikes direct from the Hotel. I had the old 'Damage' trick pulled on me once by a rental company on Beach Rd. The guy backed down when I suggested we go to the police station to discuss it, and a friend had the old 'Stolen Bike' trick pulled on him. He paid out for the bike but as I was staying in Pattaya longer I saw the bike back at the renters 3 days later. I just went to the Tourist police and they sorted it out getting my friends money back. I always used to rent bikes from the Diana Inn but they dont do it any more.

Not any more. You search on Skyscanner for the price that Opodo is offering and you can only buy it at that price if you pay with EntroPay, Select Visa Debit to pay with and the price will jump at least £5. To me its the damned principle of the thing so I got my wifes ticket from Major Travel whoo took my Visa debit with no problems and slightly cheaper than the Opodo Fare.

Over the years Ive tended to use Opodo for my air reservations. Not any more. Just done a booking for the wife yesterday on Opodo and I was given 'Options for paying. The quote price on the site is only valid if you pay with 'Entropay' paying with Visa Debit as I usually do incurs an extra £5 !!! When I bitched about it to Opodo they just came back and stated that with Entropay you get a discount. What they failed to say was that there is a 4.9% surcharge just to put money ON the card so it actully works out more expensive for the traveller. They make more commision but it isnt passed

The funny thing at the airport that made me roar with laughter? some chap decided to change some UK money for Romanian money then went to the Cafe (and I use that word advisedly) to get a drink and was told they wouldnt accept Romanian Money !! It must have been better than the toilet paper on the plane though.

My last trip on Gulf Air was in 1990 and that was in a Tristar. But anything has to be better than the old Romanian Airlines !!
