  1. I ate here a few times last month. Great value and tasty product. Owner is American but been in Thailand for years. Pleasant bloke. Highly recommended if you want instant gratification at fair prices.
  2. I've just returned from a long-awaited visit to Dicey O'Rs on Second Road....I'm not normally a buffet/carvery guy but Greg Bs review above and another by Evil P convinced me to try this place. I'm glad I did!! I wasn't sure I was hungry enough for a carvery,as two plates seem a minimum ROI for these places, but I thought I would get there early and give it a go. Nice ambience, good air con,well-spaced out tables,a low-key crooner warbling away and quality furnishings made for a good setting.A smallish crowd (numerically) to begin with but others drifted in as one o'clock approached. No
  3. Out of interest,is anyone (in addition to myself) watching these cams?? Every now and then I log on,and amuse myself at the little dramas playing out in real time. Often the radio soundtrack that accompanies the moving images is remarkably appropriate.....Madness and "House of Fun" was just on as Pattaya's finest were hard at it looking for ways to pay their rent (or yabba dealer). The "Sweethearts" one pointing south is particularly good from 4am to 6am local time.....a zillion hookers looking to make a connection and grabbing any unattached male who strolls by. There's probably no o
  4. Thanks A2. I am already registered there,so it would have been my first choice....also I Googled their ENT doctors and there are two well qualified specialists there so I'll hop on a baht bus and see what the problem and cure is. Assuming the specialists are working today, that is. Otherwise it would be Bumrungrad in Bangers on Monday....there was a thread on Thai Visa which strongly endorsed a specialist there....and I've had excellent medical treatment there before...but I don't want to wait til Monday.... So,Soi 4 it is!
  5. I'm in Pattaya for a few days only, and need to find a reliable ear, nose and throat hospital or clinic which can conduct an immediate examination.Anyone had a good experience, accurate diagnosis and precise treatment in Pattaya? If so,where?? I have an acute issue with breathing through one nostril, might need a steroid spray. It could be a polyps problem....a sac of fluid inside the nose preventing it being cleared by blowing. One nostril is fine, the other almost impossible to clear ..there's a blocking inside. I know I've had this issue building up for a few weeks, but it has deteriorated si
  6. ^^ Just follow the link in the OP....click Walking Street, then there are two options ...Walking Street Guest House cam pointing north and Sweethearts looking south. In fact, both cameras are nestled side-by-side,attached to the same signage, but the Sweethearts one has a longer field of view.
  7. I've been watching the Sweethearts one, pointing up WS towards Marine,at between 5am and 7am Thai time. Watching the unattached streetwalkers trying to snare every male within spitting distnce is quite revealing! Also,a few dramas play out too. Not a bad way to spend few minutes if you have time on your hands. If streetcams are the future,I'm all for it.
  8. Too far out to see the Coconut freelancers but a good panorama of the bay. If more businesses consent to placing a camera then it will be like being in a CCTV control room,watching.... Definitely Orwellian.
  9. Some good definition street cams sprouting all over Pattaya. Just been watching a Walking Street one,the amount of people on the street at 6 am local time is amazing! Worth bookmarking! www.pattayastreetcams.com
  10. Sam Burgess looked dangerous tonight, slipped a couple of impossible passes out when it looked like he was caught in possession. Just like Sonny Bill does for New Zealand, these guys unload in the tackle to generate another movement instead of going to ground and causing a breakdown. Another Rugby League convert to look out for of course is Israel Folau, the Wizard of Oz. Ford and Farrell are fantastic players, their respective fathers having been top performers in Rugby League before both going on to be leading coaches in Union. And to think that only a few years ago anyone playing Le
  11. Really looking forward to this.....opening fixture tonight (England v Fiji).I have been a life-long Rugby League supporter so I have surprised myself by my enthusiasm for this tournament. I looked up a few Jonah Lomu videos earlier today to whet my appetite.....Lomu is a legend,a New Zealander who was quite simply the best player of his generation,a superhuman athlete. If you have time available, watch these : www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsXTa7UCGlk www.youtube.com/watch?v=Judms69Zw8g
  12. Maybe auto-correct at work, replacing an unknown word with previously used ones?
  13. I occasionally watch PPTV on my laptop from Farangland, but recently the feed has been unavailable. Is the channel still operational on cable tv in Thailand ? It seems to be non-operational on the internet,at least from the UK. Maybe the rumours about trouble within Colov's media "empire" have some truth in them.....that employees haven't been getting wages for weeks??.... and the website looks like a dogs dinner, its all over the place and absolute shite to navigate. Not what you would expect from a "media conglomerate". Something is wrong, thats for sure. Is the shrivelled and withered
  14. If the lake dries out, what might be the consequences for Pattaya?
  15. Tip the fighters of course,as they walk around between "shows" to get the oblivious farang to pay their wages. If you do go there, check out the shins of these guys....they have been kicked so many times the veins are spectacularly horrific. Siren is also one of the few places were Connect 4 is still en vogue too,a time warp in an ever changing world.
  16. The ring is in the middle of a cramped bar "complex" called Siren, the very last building on the sea side of Beach Road before WS begins and is in the shadow of the Walking Street signage. The Pattaya Beer Garden (PBG) is up an alley at the side of Siren and sits behind it facing the sea. Of course, the fighting is complete theatre, and any westerner in the area is expected to contribute a tip just because they are there, irrespective if you watched the "show" or not. The bars are little more than huts surrounded by stools, and look desolate most days as nearly everyone sails past to explo
  17. Are the "emergency exit row" seats with the huge leg room bookable without paying a surcharge? Just had a look at Seatguru for the A380 and would like one for next trip but my booking site doesn't offer these seats as an option.
  18. Never made it to this place....located deep behind the Soi Buakhao market near Pattaya Tai...but was told its the best place for roasting. Whether they have your particular bean,I can't say. www. benjamitcoffee.com
  19. The reason for visiting a carvery though is that you don't go intending to eat a roast dinner....you go to eat,or expecting to eat, at least two platefuls! And regular lunches don't include unlimited desserts. So,its terrific value. Will definitely sample the goods when next in that neighbourhood. Thanks for the update.
  20. Will be very interesting when The Big Man leaves the building, there won't be much partying in Party Town for many a month, and what will be left when the music starts again?
  21. The JF was one of the restaurants in the little group associated with Russel Whitmore, the father of the guy doing the 50 year stretch for drug dealing. I think Lance himself (the convicted dealer) had it on his CV as being one of the places he helped manage. But that could have been hogwash, the stuff you put on a resume to big yourself up. Whether the old man is still involved,I don't know. With all the turbulence in that family its probably no surprise the restaurant has gone down the gurgler if Mr W is or was still involved.
  22. There seems to be a lot of exceptionally low prices being quoted at the moment and all airlines seem to be taking part! London-Bangkok direct on Thai are coming in at £488 on ebookers for return journeys of less than 30 days...must be low fuel prices.
  23. GM,we all know it's not politically correct, but the point is there's a bloke promenading up and down Walking Street wearing this and he probably won't get any grief. Try that in Birmingham or Brisbane and you might get your head stoved in within minutes of stepping out.
