  1. Is the bloke in the blue shirt,in the second photo of post #34,just playing up to the camera,or trying to usher you away? I've noticed it's getting increasingly hostile on the street if you point a chunky camera at the hello girls, but they don't bat an eyelid if you use a camera phone or a tablet.
  2. Looks an interesting place! Do the staff there give customers a quick tutorial on what to do and for how long to do it for,in regards to cooking methods? And does it operate a set menu for a fixed price with preprepared portions,or can you get stuck in and eat as much as you like?
  3. Agreed. I had the daily special on two visits....chicken curry, drink and rice or chips for just less than 200 b. Good service, good value, tasty food. On one visit I elected for chips instead of rice,a mistake as the fries were the blandest I've ever eaten. If that could be sorted then no complaints whatsoever.
  4. I had a couple of visits there recently and can strongly recommend the place. Both times I had the three rib platter and then a chicken skewer platter. The chicken came with a portion of rice one time, and with chips on the other occasion. A bottle of water was 15 baht,so each time the bill was 113 b and I left satisfied. Hardly fine dining, but great value.
  5. The Loaf on Soi Lengkee sells a surprisingly strong brew.
  6. ....but photos aren't attaching to the post if you are using Internet Explorer 11 as a browser....
  7. This. The midday flight TG911 is usually much much less busy than the evening one out of Heathrow (TG917). It's often stuffed with retired couples off to Vietnam on a cheap package deal to avoid the cold UK winter. The evening flight carries more mongers though, guys who work the day they fly to get that extra days wages in and so be able to afford more little brown companions in the days ahead. On the way back, the early afternoon one from Bangers is often underloaded, whereas the late night/early morning one is packed to the gills, often with regular tourists back from the Kohs, with their hair in braids and camera filled with photos of them drinking from plastic buckets on the beach under a full moon. I always take the midday flights in either direction...less queues, often no-one in the adjacent seat, and the check-in staff often ignore excess baggage kilos.
  8. Yep,it's happening when trying to get here from Google. Happened a couple of times a week ago also.

  10. So,when the big clogs are popped, how drastic might the situation get for visitors? In the DD thread,TTT rambled on about 100 days of mourning and a "year of darkness" when You Know Who shuffles off the mortal coil. How bad can it get?
  11. This was a spectacular one....
  12. This Rugby League World Cup is astonishing, with some of the lesser known teams putting in sensational performances! The USA are perhaps the biggest surprise, but Italy and Scotland are up there too. I can't believe how good the tournament is,lots of quality on show across all groups. Great advertisement for the code.
  13. Website : http://www.wavepattaya.com/ And from YouTube :
  14. Yep,it is a Cadillac.....I must have been the only person totally uninterested in it....that prop draws photographers like moths to a flame. Wave is a wonderful hotel....so clean and comfortable. There's music piped around all the public areas....from Thirties swing to Latin...it completes the relaxing and sophisticated atmosphere,as does the pastel colours, neon lighting and well chosen decorative items that are scattered around. Can't fault this place whatsoever....deserves all five stars.
  15. Yep,was there for ten days last month. It's absolutely top drawer, and the staff are incredible. It's a small hotel, only 21 rooms spread over three floors. Rooms are gorgeous....very stylish and fitted out with everything, including seafront balcony. Theme is Art Deco, loads of quirky furnishings in the lobby...feels like you are a character in a Scott Fitzgerald novel. Breakfast is like fine dining.....limited menu but presented like a Masterchef dish. Absolutely delicious. Quirky tablewear too. Hotel is brand new,so everything clean and shiney. It's affiliated to the Bayview, and guests from BV access BR by a covered corridor/walkway behind The Wave. Similarly, guests at Wave can use Bayview pools too. Wave has it's own pool....smallish,and visible from Beach Road. In the ten days I was there,I only saw one other guest with a girl du jour...all other guests were single blokes, couples, single women and business type guys. A good class of guest....not sleazy whatsoever. In fact, the hotel is so small, most of the time you don't even see other guests. The best thing for me though was the personal attention the staff give you.....you feel like a VIP at all times. The always rush to the elevator, for example, when you enter the hotel, and open the lift doors and set it for your floor. Doesn't sound much, but its cool. Of course,it's free Internet....whereas the Bayview round the back charge 350 bht per day. I was amazed how many people approach the Rolls Royce parked out front for a photo opportunity.....it's incessant.....from early morning to late. Location is fantastic....next to Soi 10 and only a tiny skip to Central Festival. Direct sea views. It's expensive, but it's exclusive, ultra modern, quirky, comfortable. And,of course,TG friendly. I'll definitely book it again,it's in a category all of it's own.
  16. The drugs must have worn off and he came to his senses in the nick of time! The Lima Bravo with the outrageously long legs, the strange one in the red mini skirt in the early photos in this report, disturbs me more than the creature in the polychromatic dress though.....
  17. Haha....it certainly looks a bit shabby. Next time I'm in town I will try and swing by about 6 in the morning.....there should be far more creatures on the prowl...only problem though is that the police have long gone by then and personal safety might be more of a challenge than at other times? I might have to bring my own machete,Thai style.
