  1. Hub yes I cannot entirely disagree with you about the Haven though I enjoyed my stay there. Stephen can indeed be a little difficult to deal with at times but overall he was okay and yes the rooms are a little tatty though not that bad. The guys that play out of there were mainly a great bunch of guys plus many visiting tourist type members. It was Richard Livingstone the golf pro up at the driving range near to the PSC building that recommended me to the Haven. BTW Hub I am also a PSC member as well as IPGC and indeed it does get you a lot of discount on meals, goods etc. so well worth it
  2. Pattaya Golfer you wont go far wrong than to go along to The Haven on Soi 13 and join the IPGC (International Pattaya Golf Club). It cost only about 300 to 500 Baht (cant remember exact figure but peanuts) a year and they play friendly matches out of there 3 or 4 times a week at different but great courses with transport provided very cheaply. Ask the owner Stephen Beard as he organises it all. Website at http://www.thehaven-hotel.com/html/golf.html Not a bad place to stay at The Haven either, especially if you are a golfer. Nice rooms with good facilities and not expensive either. Oh
  3. Thanks Sprinter a very usefuol site. BTW do you or anyone else here know how good EVA air is economy class. I hear that their business and luxury classes are very good but how does their economy compare to other airlines.
  4. Tom Expats club, look here :-http://www.pattayaexpatsclub.com/ It costs US$5 per anum to join and stay a member, includes a good downloadable book on relocating to Pattaya. You need to register with PayPal, if you havent already, to send them the dosh. PayPal is well worth registering for anyway and is a free service :) As to the 4 times non-immigrant visas, you have slightly misunderstood me as they are RE-ENTRY visas thus you have to make the visa run when each one expires (remember you can extend each one a little) i.e. you go out of LOS and come straight back in again say at
  5. Tom, I don't know how old you are but if you are over 50 then why not apply for a non-immigrant OA "retirement" visa if you are moving permanently to Pattaya. If you are a member of this FLB board then there are lots of postings about getting one of these visas in the members only section, I know I posted a detailed one myself with a couple of small corrections. Briefly you need a clean police record confirmation, at least 800,000 baht per year income or that amount of capital or a combination of both and a medical certification that you are clear of a few infectious diseases like Leprosy, El
  6. Hey I use Vit V to get my blood pressure up ;D ;D
  7. Hey Captain C I can make it easier for youthen. NExt time you come over I will change your sterling for you at only 5% worse rate than Nationwide. You pay into my account in the Channel Islands and I give you the TBahts 4 TB per pund less than NAtionwide ;D ;D ;D No I am happy with Barclays but also got caned on my ATM wiothdrawals next time if I was just being a tourist there I would use NAtionwide for sure. Wont apply next time though as I will be living there permanent and having a Thai Bank account (and a Sterling one in the Channel Isles)
  8. And they even invented the "letters" that Baz is so fond of ;D ;D
  9. Bummer, I came into this thread cos I thought it was about Hard Disks which are really exciting, well some of the pictures on mine are ;D ;D Oh well, sorry to disturb you I will leave you to it. ::)
  10. As I said before fuck the terrorists. All you are hurting by not coming to Pattaya are the lovely Thai people. Okay as I am retiring there it looks good for me as this scaremongering will put rentals and property prices down, but I honestly do not want that at the expense of the Thai folk who I will live amongst soon. Compared to us have little anyway so don't take even more away from them by cancelling that trip. What is up with these sad human beings we call terrorists ? Why can't they be like most of us and accept everyone else as human beings? I love all decent folk whether muslim
  11. Rhoel I have collected airmiles virtually since they started. I earn them on some flights, Nat West Access credit card transactions, PC parts from Dabs Direct, Tesco's, Sainsbury's, etc etc. So in the last say 12 years or so I have twice had free return flights to Miami for two (my now ex wife and myself). And for myself alone a free return flight to Malaga in Spain and a free return flight to Rotterdam. So not bad for something that I get for free 8) 8) 8) 8) I am now seeing if I have enough airmiles in my account for a good discount on my one way ticket to Bangkokk in April :)
  12. Well back last July I did buy some books and languag tapes at Bookazine on my credit card and also at the electrical shop a few doors down from Bookazine, and never had any problems myself. Though I must agree it is better to always use cash in LOS, gets you better discounts too so more bargaining power for you.
  13. Thanks guys for the tips and info. Tom thanks for that I will have a word with Pickfords as that excess fare seems horrendous considering teh weight of my Hi-Fi and PC even without the monitor and printer. I will indeed IM you for more info after I get the basics, is that your trade then Tom ??? Valentino I do not have an exact date yet but looks like mid April next year. The holiday package deal may be a good idea Ukdog, by just dumping the return flight, but I have found some single flights for just under £300
  14. Many thanks Cess, They are great pics of what will be my new home :) :) :) Yep I have a 1.3 megapixel camera and they work just fine. Even with that I only use the middle quality setting. I never print out photos as I think they are more vibrant and truer colour on a good well set up VDU so why waste paper, just save trees instead :) Also if you use high resolution they take up way too much memory and/or disk space. So I will keep my old Hewlett PAckard 1.3MP camera as I would rather spend my money on penile exercise ;D ;D Once again brilliant job Cess, very well taken piccies.
  15. It seems that all the air tickets for one way trips to BKK are very expensive. :'( As I am relocating to Pattaya in the spring I was wondering whether anyone here knows the cheapest way to get such a single ticket. Can I buy one by phone/internet in Bangkok at a lower cost and have it posted to me ??? ??? Also anyone have any experience of taking a heavy box as either excess luggage or as separate air freight. ??? I need to take out some of my needed items (the rest I will ship) like my PC and Hi Fi as I really don't want to buy replacements there (the ones I have are what I want to
  16. Baz you really are an eloquent f*cker mate. ;D Sved, if it really IS the will of the people then no problem. Truth is that in many countries some 75-80% of the population are not religious yet put up with bombastic religious based laws. All I am saying is that the religious organisations should have no say in the governing of a country. If only we could all be tolerant of each other then it would be a world of smiles, heck I even tolerate Baz but only cos he is so f*cking eloquent. ;D
  17. As a devout heathen I want to add that I agree yet again with the eloquent Baz. Religions are the biggest cause of wars throughout man's history. I respect everyone's beliefs as that is their right, but why can't folks keep it to themselves and accept others have different beliefs. Religious groups should rightly be allowed to exist but should be NO PART of any Government or Ruling body. Rules and laws should be based on the democratic will of the people not reliousity. We just need to tolerate others who follow different beliefs. Trouble is religions are about power and control and n
  18. Well I am surprised I thought all us perverts knew of marigolds. ;D ;D ;D Look here :- http://www.marigoldindustrial.com/ Heck I might risk my dick and go BB but not my lovely hands, you are always safe shaking hands with me mate 8)
  19. Baz, I know nothing!! Never got STD in my finger anyway as I always use Marigolds. ;D ;D So I couldn't vote me being a devout BBer, and I love voting too :'(
  20. Agreed, my friend who lives in BKK took me to Panthip and I was truly amazed at the place. I brought so much software and DVD films/concerts etc to last me ages and the savings paid for a good part of my trip to LOS. Must visit Panthip if you are into PCs and DVDs
  21. Thanks Hub I will take a look see at that site when I get time later today. :) With AUdioGalaxy I was actually a Gold member as it was quite cheap and gave a quicker service, no ads and I believe they were going to pay part of the small monthly sub to the artists. I agreed with that as long as it cut out the greedy record companies and forced them to perfectly reasonably halve the price of their CD's. 8)
  22. Hub, what site is there now that AudioGalaxy has gone ??? I dearly need to find a replacement site if there is one.
  23. HI Mats Well that is exactly what I had to pay 60 Baht to go back to my mates Condo in Jomtien Beach after midnight on a Saturday night. He wanted me to go scarce for a few hours whilst he had the Condo to himself with his TG from BKK that came down for the night. Mind you I had a great time in the walking street area whilst he was enjoying wild sex on his balcony ;D ;D I had to negotiate the fee as he said 100 Baht initially I just shook my head and offered him a fifty Baht note and started to walk away when he refused. He then indicated 60 with his fingers and I agreed.
  24. I stayed at the Haven on Soi 13 back in early July this year. Comfy small hotel with emphasis on Golf. Guest friendly, good food and not expensive, so I can recommend it. Was a lot of building work going on hnearby though and that made it a tad too noisy for my liking.
  25. Well I had a great time playing golf out of The Haven too during my stay in PAttaya early in July. Also found time to do other things too Had a great time. I live in the UK and found golf gear about as expensive as in England, some items like branded clubs I thought were maybe dearer but that was in Bangkok at a big shopping mall so not the cheapest of places. I am intending to move to Pattay in a few months time when I get my early retirement. I love it there but the heat takes some getting used to. 8)
