  1. Gus, Is Nana Hotel part of the program? Problem is that I'm a low end traveler but it's worth looking into. Thanks.
  2. I have 95,200 FF miles on China Air and I need 100,000 for a free trip. Are there any creative ideas about how I can get 4800 miles? I got 15K free united miles by getting a credit card that had only a 60 buck annual fee. Every dollar I spend on the card gets me a mile. No similiar deal for China Air. On United, if you're short by a few thousand miles you can buy them, not so on China Air. If I were to book on a trip on Delta I belive I could put those miles in my China Air account but I don't travel on business and all ny pleasure travel is to the LOS. I heard about so
  3. The Flamingo has an excellent restaraunt which both Thai girls that I went with seemed to enjoy. The owner is a very helpful fellow. If you going to go to the Hollywood Disco every night then it's a good location. However IMO the Flamingo is not a good choice for the first time Pattaya visitor due to the location in a somewhat gay area. There is also major construction right across the street (we went last month and it looks like it will be going on forever).
  4. In another thread a couple of guys suggested that I could add on the PI to my trip at no extra charge when redeeming my FF award. Thanks guys!! The way it's done on United/Star Alliance is to make the PI (or Bali for example) your final destination. You're allowed one stopover so you can stop over in BKK for as long as you like, it can be months. So New York to BKK (via Narita) with a stopover, then BKK to Manila (or Bali), then Manila to New York (via BKK and Narita). All for just 60K FF miles. I assume this can be done from Europe also using even less miles. The Star-Aliance
  5. A BIG thank you to all you guys. Just booked a United/Star Alliance flight that gives me six weeks in the LOS and one week in the PI (never been there) for 60K FF miles.
  6. PI for no extra charge! Gotta alove that! I try to maximize my stay while taking minimum time off from work. Have you guys been able to fly out on a Saturday and return home on a Sunday? It doesn't have to be that rigid but i don't want to for example fly out on a Monday and arrive home on a Friday.
  7. I've only looked at the website, gotta try the phone. Are you guys able to get flights for 60K miles or do you generally have to use 100K?
  8. I stayed in one of their 600 baht rooms and it was huge. Friendly German management. 24/7 safe access in lobby. Small pool. Not the best location so I would not recomend it to a first time Pattaya visitor.
  9. Franko, PM or email me and I'll give you the info re the sign Alex (or his driver )will be holding just don't leave without me!! Hahaha
  10. Much easier to get to Ko Samet from Pattaya than either Chang or Samui. I enjoyed Samet very much. Btw-If going to Ko chang or Ko Samet make sure to bring a girl with you.
  11. No matter which of the two Sabai's you pick make sure to check out the Welkom Inn (nextdoor to the Inn and across the Soi from the Lodge). Great place to take meals and the beergarden on the Soi 3 side has an excellent atmosphere and some nice girls.
  12. Thanks Emil! This thread contains Hub's link to a good website and some pics: http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.ph...wtopic=9883&hl= Thinking that daytrips might be better. Also thinking that if there's a really cheap hotel that I could rent a room in the afternoon to keep my backpack or an afternoon shag. That's if I caught the 10AM ferry. But that's wishful thinking, nooon ferry is probably more likely. Think I'll try to get over there my first full day rent a moped and scope it out. Any favorite beaches? Is the way to the new pier just going south on walkin
  13. Last trip I had a great time on Ko Samet. Myn upcomming trip is very short, just one week, so i was thinking of Ko Larn as a quick alternative. Could do it as a daytrip, but think maybe it'd be better to stay overnight. I'm finding it difficult to find a website or even an email address for a resort on Ko Larn. I see "Ko Larn Resort" listed on some websites with no info. Have any of you actually stayed overnight on Ko Larn? Anyone have any hotel email addresses or even know if there is lodging on the island? Does the ferry leave from the old pier or the new pier? Does the
  14. Guess we all have different tastes Snesei. I checked out the AoPrao and didn't like the vibe of the place, too upscale and Western. However many people on many boards give the Ao Prao a solid thumbs up so maybe it's just me. It's also rather isolated, not real easy to get to Hat Saikaew where there's great bars and restaurants right on the beach where you can lie down and sprawl out. If you're going to spend three or four days with one girl, consider taking her to Ko Samet.
  15. Frank changed his date of arrival so I'm still looking for someone to share a ride around noon on Sunday, September 5th.
  16. An alternative to the $168 advice at Thai Travel Tips bar is to drop in at the FLB buy Ben a Carlsberg.
  17. If the free trip drawing is legimate it's a great deal since there should be only two paid members vying for a free trip.
  18. Excellent Frank! I'll PM you with my email address.
  19. $168 buckeroos is mucho dinero for a Soi 8 bar crawl! A much more interesting "show em the ropes" concept is offered by a private investigation firm that offers a real walk on the wild side. Seems except for underage girls and illegal drugs anything goes. http://www.siam-fi.org/fantasy_escorts.htm Doesn't sound cheap; no prices are mentioned.
  20. Got an email from Alex saying price is 1660 which includes all tolls. All would imply Bangkok tolls in adittion to Pattaya tolls. In the past, it had been 1500 which included only the Pattaya tolls.
  21. Franko, Image Limo is 2450 plus tolls, right? I'm just emailed Alex yesterday. His service is 1660 baht which includes all tolls. Rode twice with Alex in the past and was very satisfied. Lot of guys from this board ride with him or his drivers.-PA
  22. My flight gets in at 12:20. Maybe it's worth coming up with a plan in case your flight gets delayed.
  23. I don't like prepaying cause plans can change. First off you might have to canscel a trip. Secondly maybe you'll fall in love, and want to take of to Ko amet. Thirdly, maybe you'll want to change hotels cause you don't like it. Fourth maybe you'll want to change hotels cause you want to avoid a certain bargirl(s). One plan is to book a place for two nights and if you're really happy extend your stay which shpould not be a problem in low season. In the meantime walk around and check a few places out. When they see you checking out a place without luggage, they are more apt to give you
  24. Arriving around noontime in BKK. Looking to split cost of taxi or limo.
  25. United announced yesterday that it's unable or unwilling to continue funding their employees pension plan. United is in bankruptcy and was also recently turned down for bailout money. It seems as if their could be scenarios where we'd lose our FF miles. The 60K supersaver program is a joke for most us. Even for 100K miles flights don't seem available for when I want to travel.
