  1. I prefer going straight to Pattaya from the airport but spend the final night in Bangkok. Don't want to risk a car breaking down and missing the flight.
  2. If you are interested in sharing a ride to Pattaya, give a holler.
  3. Hey Tahoe, good call with 45 min, I'd do the same!
  4. Thai girls may say they don't like the Apex, but I find it hard tobelieve they would turn down 100 baht cause of a noisy AC when their rooms don't even have an AC.
  5. Jimmy-Don't know what Delux class is; I'm flying on United in Economy Plus which I technically don't qualify for but I talked them into it. I'm tall so also got to pick seats near the bulkhead with some extra legroom. I refuse to pay more than the lowest fare or use frequent flyer miles for upgrades though. For the price of business class the stewardesses should be giving head! My hotel dicked me around too. I had booked my favorite room, much better but not really more expensive than other rooms, months in advance with a manager who left and owner tells me the room is now booked
  6. December 24th and there's no room at the inn! Perhaps you can stay in the barn with the buffalo
  7. My guess is that January is busy because many of us, espcially Americans have limited vacation time. So having Christmas and New Years plus maybe the Friday after both days off makes it a good time to go. I don't see why Chinese New Years would affect flights from the UK to Bangkok.
  8. Three bucks is a bargain! Hey Gus how much do the golden showers cost on Crossair? ;D
  9. United has a pretty good frequent flyer program. One question to ask yourself is how much the fare could possibly go down and how much could it possibly go up? From Vegas could it really get lower than 500? But it seems possible it could be more than 1000 if travel picks up. Just my take, all might not agree. I was going to book on China Air for around 860 suoer peak season waited and then had to do United for 1000, this is from New York. Then the cheap China Air flight became available so I lost 140 bucks. But if I wanted to book today for super peak season it be at leat 1500.
  10. Have not stayed there yet but the Koenig is 600 with a pool. Looks like a real bargain.
  11. http://www.narita-airport.or.jp/airport_e/...dex_shower.html Have a three hour layover at Narita and would like to shower. Does anyone have anything to add to the above link? Are they the only showers at Narita? Do you need yen or are dollars or credit card OK?
  12. I like the Grand Inn in the NEP area. No pool but perfect for a short stay. http://www.hotelthailand.com/bangkok/grand...dinn/index.html Don't have their email handy if you want to book direct.
  13. If you do miss your connection and have time to kill there is a free shower in the Tapei airport.
  14. For me the reason to be in LOS for New Year's is so I don't have to burmn any vacation days. Other than that I would just as soon not be there for New Year's Eve.
  15. Even though I don't stay in hotels of that price range, I went to Landmark to check out a room. They told me the joiner fee was 1000 baht which is what I was paying for my room at the Grand Inn a couple of minutes away. Of course the Landmark is much nicer.
  16. Bringing a farang girl to Pattaya with you is liking bringing a sack of coal to Newcastle while carrying an albatross around your neck. Recomend you stay near Soi 6. Tell her you're going for your daily massage and go for a quickie in the shortime rooms all the Yodsak bars have or use. In most Soi 6 places the 200 barfine includes the room.
  17. Butterfly-Please let me know what you thought of the Koenig. I'm booked there at the peak of the peak season for 600, so let me know the scoop.
  18. Try the Koenig for 600, looks like 1000 baht quality for 600.
  19. I'm a China Air fan. Bottom line is you're more likely to die on the road from Bangkok to Pattaya than on China Air.
  20. The Welkom Inn has a back entrance on Soi 2. The main entrance is on Soi 3. In either case there is no lobby. I like the place very much. But book the most expensive room possible; it's well worth a couple of hundred extra baht as there is a big difference in room quality.
  21. It was mentined that food's not so hot at ther Sabai Lodge. At the Welkom Inn (an entrance is just across the street) the food is excellent! To get to their outdoor dining you have to walk thru the Welkom Inn to their Soi 3 entrance.
  22. Now I'm confused. The rooms I was refering to were close to but not right next to the big pool. I didn't see the small pool but I see on their website that there is also a small pool.
  23. I'm a China Air fan but seems liek at least one of their pilots likes to drink and fly (see below from another board): Wednesday, October 1, 2003 Posted: 10:16 AM EDT (1416 GMT) ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) -- The captain of a China Airlines wide-body jet about to fly from Anchorage, Alaska, to New York last week was kept off the plane after he failed an alcohol test, officials said on Tuesday. An airport security screener noticed the man, identified by the Federal Aviation Administration as the plane's captain, smelled of alcohol, prompting a breath test showing his blood alcohol
  24. SoCal, I have nevver stayed at the Sabai Lodge but have looked at their rooms. The nicest rooms are their most expensive that have there own little ourdoor patio (a plus). What I didn't like is that all their rooms have carpeting and at this price range tiled floored rooms seem to smell much better than carpeted rooms. The outdoor pool area is quite nice but the rooms are not as nice but acceptable. Don't know if any rooms have recently been renovated. What I can say is I've often been on the baht bus with guys from Sabai Lodge and they all seemed to like it. Another a
  25. I got the same the fax bullshit from the Penthouse plus I'd have to pay half the bill upfront. But if u want the Penthouse on the busiest week of the year that's the drill. Koenig (a real bargian)and Sabai Lodge (need baht bus to get u to Walking Street) may have some rooms available, no credit card required, but these will be filled up quickly.
