If someone is flying EVA economy on the LHR-BKK service soon can you check something out please. I had a brief walk around the 777 economy cabin and it looked to me that the Exit row window seats didn't have a big liferaft blocking you feet position as on the 747. I looked across at seat 45 A I think and it looked like you could strech your feet out. I think the exit row window seats are 45A&K and 60 A&K, all info welcome.

Due to the big fire at Hemel Hempstead last weekend fuel supplies to LHR are being rationed. Some of the foreign based long haul flights can only have about 64% of last weeks usage, this is affecting some flights not sure if to BKK. Singapore airlines have 3 flights a day to Singers, two are still flying non-stop while the third is having a re-fueling stop in Frankfurt. It is down to each airline how they choose to use their fuel allowance. I wouldn't be surprised if Thai and Eva are affected.

OURSTRAVEL are 430/455 plus tax with EVA so £500 seems OK. Eva now has the Avod entertainment system, movies on demand etc etc touch screens etc.You will just get the hang of it all by the time you arrive in Bangers

No wonder he didn't have time to phone home

steve Yes that free PL does look the best option for using your miles. I'll never save that many though I took some photos of my meals on the return journey and managed to leave my digital camera on the aircraft I phoned EVA at LHR and they had the camera and are returning it to me, great service. A full TR will be posted later this week.

Steve Good report on the new 777. If you have flown over 50 times with EVA, why not use your miles for upgrades to PL rather than have free flights? I had a look around the aircraft again on Thursday and next trip I may just go for an aisle seat in the zoo. I have now been spoilt by the return trip in PL which I found excellent. OK the headphones are not brilliant and the Sky map kept crashing in my seat. Outbound the movies kept freezing plus no sky map, inbound the movies etc were OK. The London lounge is miles ahaed of the Evergreen lounge at BKK, no showers, no toilets, a bit of food
-
Cheers for that Steve. I fly home tomorrow From what I saw on the outbound flight Evergreen/Elite is a little worse on the 777 and the Zoo a little better on the new 777. Maybe I will go for economy over Elite next flight.

Currently in Chiang Mai guys, sorry no postings for the past 3 weeks but I'm sure you'll understand why Flew out with EVA Premium Laurel, very good but entertainment system kept freezing and no sky map, full report to follow. I fly back on the 8th again PL, cheers Tom One thing I have not noticed posted about EVA, one of their aircraft departed Anchorage from the taxiway It was an MD11 freighter, oddly enough 2 years ago a China airlines did SAME SAME, must be a tad confusing at that airport. Just a final observation about EVA, the flight deck never seem to communicate wi

Last trip nobody in the immigration line and my baggage was one of the first off the carousel. Friday I hope for same same
-
cheers Guys,I cannot remember seeing one before, not to worry, one of the first off the aircraft and run like fuck
-
Is there a fast track through immigration for Business/First ticket holders or do you just have to be happy that you are first off your aircraft and can beat most of your other pax to immigration? I know it's pot luck when you arrive, you just hope a couple of 744s are not in front of you on the taxiway

What time do the EVA check-in desks open at LHR, around 1830hrs?
-
david Try Eurostar and the Trans Siberion Express via Moscow and Hanoi etc etc I don't know how long the journey takes, London to Bangkok, guess about a month. Not sure how much it would cost Some airlines run these Fear of flying courses around the UK, may be worth going on one of those.
-
I got free upgrades twice with Virgin Atlantic wearing shorts Being a frequent flyer with an airline works better than a suit for an upgrade.
-
Although I am in Premium next week I may have to take my tape measure to check out the Elite seat pitch. I will not be going PL again for a while and if the Elite is not too good I will book a seat in Cattle and hope for the best come February.

On a Bangkok Bound TV programme an English couple lost £5,000 from a hotel safe deposit box, one of the members of staff cleaned it out. I think the police got him at the bus station, he said all he had spent was 90 baht on the bus ticket. Mysteriously quite a few quid had gone missing which the police couldn't explain The farang couple were just happy to get most of their money back. I have got a new Nationwide debit for main use plus a A&L debit for back up plus 2 C/C for extra back up.
-
A couple of good suggestions there from chairman and cenc. Winston how come you got cleaned out

Just returned to UK, and going back to LOS Thursday Jamie, you've not fell in love have you?
-
Patfan Many thanks for that info, I am from the UK and do not require a visa for HKG. I would probably get a Bangkok travel agent to sort out a one entry visa for Guilin although I may need to go to the Chinese embassy in Bangkok. The Bangkok Airways discovery pass seems quite good value. I have heard that girls are available in Guilin and there is certainly no shortage in HKG although not a girlfriend experience as in LOS. When I am in LOS I will take it day by day and see where I finish up probably in the gutter

Do You have a booking at the Bay Breeze ?

Cheers soi, better 7-11 means TG will want more money to spend there -
Thanks for that Neil, I am not 100% sure that I will go to China, I want to just go with the flow and see what happens when I am in LOS. However, I have several ideas in the back of my mind, I'll just see what unfolds. Knowing the Thais as long as the travel agent made a few baht they would sort it out for me when I booked the flights, just need to find a Bangkok Airways agent or their Bangkok office, I think they'll help.

It looks increasingly likely that my forthcoming trip will be for around 30 days. My travel insurance is valid for only 31 days, Thai tourist non-visa thingy 30 days. These can be overcome relatively easy but 30 days seems OK anyway, but who knows TIT I will be staying Pattaya and perhaps Koh Samet or Chang for total of 12 nights then up tp Bangers for 3 nights. It would then be Bangkok Air to Guilin, China 4 nights inc Yungshuo then Dragonair or similar to HKG for 3 nights. Next up Bangkok Air direct to Koh Samui for 6 nights back at Lamai then Bangkok Air USM-BKK and EVA home. I

Gus replied to Soi7's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
BayBreeze is not the quietest hotel in Pattaya at the best of times, however it does quieten down after 2am. Sometimes after 2 a guy comes along with a pick up that has a load of speakers on the back and parks it on second road but I have never heard him crank it up, if he did you would hear it in Jomtien -
I am a bit thick What is the difference between a 5* airline and other airlines? FWIW What * is EVA
