  1. Bigmike, You mat be correct about the linen change frequency at the Inn house. I believe that the Residence Garden also changes the linen only twice a week. I didn't think that most hotels would change the linen daily unless needed, but I could be wrong. If anone knows for sure, please enlighten me. Thanks. Regards
  2. Just wondering if you paid the "++", tax and service charge on top of the rates you quoted? Regards
  3. I was just checking out the Sabai Lodge web site for reservations, and I noticed that they require a credit card number and a deposit on the card equal to the first two nights charge. Has anyone booked at Sabai Lodge without giving the required credit card info, except for walk-ins. Thanks. Regards
  4. After a 22 hour journey to LOS, I think "quick and comfortable" has a lot going for it. Take the Limo. Regards
  5. Jack, Would you by any chance know the website address for the Lek? Regards
  6. Is this where you walk down the street to the Dynasty and take their bus, or does Nana have a bus that runs to Pattaya? Or, perhaps you are referring to the regular bus from Ekamai station. Regards
  7. I believe they are the Toyota Camry type cars, and they require internet booking. Here is what Dennism had to say Dec 6 2003: I have used Image Limo at least 6-7 times. The owner is Rob Scarr and he prides himself on Customer Service. The only point I would make is price, it is not the cheapest mode of transportation you can find but you pay for piece of mind. I normally arrive around 11:00pm and by the time I clear customs and baggage it 11:30 or closer to midnight. They have always been there waiting with the little sign. Great new vehicles, with a cold towel and water and at least f
  8. It seems that people tend to like the new rooms and location at the Inn House (Soi 13), the Sunshine hotel (Soi 8), or the Lek hotel (Corner of Soi 13 and 2nd Rd.) If money was no object, then the location of the Pattaya Marriott, or the Hard Rock hotel would probably be the choice. I would probably pick the Marriott. Money being no object - that is. Regards
  9. Or, you could use Image Limo. More expensive, reliable, and comfortable. http://www.imagelimo.com/ Regards
  10. I would think that with the addition of the new Ruenthai wing at Sabai Lodge it would give that place the edge over it's cousin Sabai Inn. Also, I have read that the cottages at the Sabai Lodge are quite appealing. For me, the location is very good indeed. Regards
  11. I remember money changers in Kong Kong on Nathan Rd. that would try to entice you with a "no commission" or "low commission" sign, and then offer a much poorer exchange rate than others. I wonder how these honest money changers in Pattaya make a profit when taking no commission? Regards
  12. The TCs will be American Express, so I hope that will make it a little easier. Thanks everyone for all the information! Regards
  13. It looks like I will be staying at the Sabai Lodge for my next trip, and I was wondering if there is a bank, or other facility nearby to change travelers checks. I think Big C has some changers, but I believe that banks often offer the best rates. Regards
  14. Khaoboy, From the looks of the map at bahtbus.com the street would be soi marine plaza, which turns into soi lucky star about halfway to Beach road. The "VC" you referred to is the VC hotel on the corner of soi VC and Pratamnak road, just down from the RG. BTW, nice avatar! Where did you pick that one up? Regards
  15. Mescalito, In each of the instances you mention did you use a credit card to secure the reservation? That would be my assumption but I wanted to confirm. Thanks. Regards
  16. Please tell us which internet agent you used if possible. I thought that most people dealt directly with the hotel when reserving the Flipper Lodge/Hotel. Thanks Regards
  17. PenName, Thanks for the info! So, it sounds like you be routed LAX-Singapore-BKK on the A340-500 journey in 92 days. Or, does this require a stop in Tapei for fuel? I had such a great experience on Singapore Air my last trip, I am tempted to take the same routing as you indicate. Although, I must admit the LAX-Narita-BKK route makes for a nice break a little over mid-way of the total journey.
  18. Speaking of Singapore Air, does anyone know if they are using the 747 for their LAX and SFO West coast departures these days. I know they have plans to integrate the A340, but I am not sure on exactly which route.
  19. Cybers1b, I was just checking out the link you provided. The location map is good as long as you know where the Sugar Hut, or soi Norway are located. I think they should provide a couple more landmarks, but I think I have a pretty good idea of where it is located. Otherwise, I must admit having broadband in the room is very impressive for Pattaya!
  20. jnr, I seem to recall that there is a nice air-conditioned gym at the Royal Garden Plaza shopping center, or at least there used to be. Not exactly in-expensive, but quite well appointed.
  21. Sabaidii2, Thanks for posting the info about the Sunshine Vista! I know what you mean about the poolside restaurant ambiance at the Sabai Lodge. I stayed at the Swagman in Angeles City years ago, and enjoyed many a meal poolside. I suppose the walk from soi 3 to soi 2 to Sabai Lodge would not be too much of a strain. I may start at the Sunshine, and then check out the Sabai Lodge. SoCalGuy
  22. grs90, I am curious about the SunShine Vista serviced apts. A few questions for you if you will indulge me: - Did you use the safety box at the front desk? - Was the pool worthy of a swim? - How did you find the restaurant at or nearby the hotel? Appreciate the help, as I find myself leaning more toward the North part of Pattaya for my next stay. I like the fact that most MPs, and Big C Center are nearby. Thanks. SoCalGuy
  23. Cowboy, Just curious how you liked the Marriott. Do you think it was worth the price? I have heard that it is an nice oasis right in the heart of the action. I have not stayed there, but all indications are that the food, pool, and environs are great. SoCalGuy
  24. Erik_e, Please post your comments on the hotel you end up going with. I have a very smilar set of requirements to yours, and it seems to come down to location perhaps, in the final analysis. I would be especially interested in your view if you choose the Pattaya Marriott. Thanks. Over the years, the complaints about the RG seem to be centered on the location, lack of reasonable food, and twice weekly linen service. Of course, YMMV. Not having stayed there myself, I cannot weigh in on the subject. SoCalGuy
  25. Marz, Have your eye on any particular carrier? SoCalGuy
