  1. I have to say that paying the full balance ahead (except for Priceline) seems a bit wacky. I could see paying for two or three nights though. Regards
  2. Greg_B, Thanks for the information! I agree that the 747-400 is a great airplane. I am a little surprised that JAL is still flying those 747-200s though. Those things must be 35+ years old. Regards
  3. Greg_B, I was curious as to what type of aircraft JAL used for each leg of your flight? Regards
  4. I believe that you are correct. The Thai Air Limo 300 baht Minibus to Pattaya is long gone. Apparently Thai Air Limo has re-incarnated itself however, under a new name, and at much steeper prices. Regards
  5. There will be an airport opneing to some degree (according to last reports) over the next 6 months or so. The name is Suvarnabhumi Airport. It is located about 30 km East of Bangkok. Regards
  6. I would stay away from the Marriott, as I hear they charge a joiner fee at times, and the place is pricey at best. Regards
  7. It must be nice to have that kind of time off. How do you fanagel such long vacations? Regards
  8. quote from Floyd: "Then i found the Sabai new wing on Soi 2. nice reasonable sized rooms with balcony (no kitchen like RG but who cooks) and large bed." Is that the Sabai Lodge, or the Sabai Inn to which you are referring? Thanks. Regards
  9. Have to agree with Cash on this one. I think that Maui or Kauai would be excellent choices for honemooners. It seems like they might be asking for problems if they went ot Pattaya for a honeymoon. Regards
  10. I think that CheshireTom is probably correct. Try Start->Settings->Control Panel->Regional and Language Options. There are a couple of boxes to check for supplemental language support. Regards
  11. Just wondering, did you book through the hotel, or through an online booking agent? Regards
  12. Essentially, there is "action" everywhere from soi 1 to the end of Walking Street (and also outside that perimeter, ie Naklua to Jomtien). But if I were pressed I would say there were 3 centers: - Soi 2 area, including beer bars, soapies, and the Big C for FLers. - Soi 6, Soi 7, and Soi 8 roughly including the raunchiness of Soi 6. - Walking Street - higher end go-go and some disco. There are probably those who will disagree, but that is my view. Regards
  13. The combinaton of an in-room safe and a fully functioning bath tub may prove to be a difficult combination to find. The RG may have a few tubs, I'm not sure. You may have to settle for an outdoor jacuzzi. My guess is that bath tubs are considered an inefficient use of space in newer hotels, unless they are high end. Regards
  14. Thanks for the information! BTW, how did you know that these folks would not try to rip you off, as they were not at the taxi stand, or behind a legit looking counter of some sort? Regards
  15. Floyd, What is the new name for the old Thai Limo company? Could you share the contact info from the card you received? Thanks. Regards
  16. Is Akiak, Alaska in the Kenai Peninsula? What's the weather like this time of year? Oops... Sorry, I see it is not AKI, but AKL - Auckland, New Zealand! Regards
  17. Saddic, "Looking forward to the Sabai Resort (currently being built across 2nd road by SabaiRooms) in 06". Is the SabaiRooms your refer to the massage parlor that we all know and love, or is it something else again? Regards
  18. Downside: the Buffet Breakfast is overpriced at 150B. Lek is better at 95B-worth the Baht bus ride. It might be worth the ride if the quality of the buffet was much better at the Lek, but otherwise, for a little over a buck and a half, it doesn't seem like time well spent. Afterall, 150 baht is about 4 USD if my calculations are correct. Regards
  19. Aardvark, Would you by any chance know which flights have the "Premium Economy" or "Executive Economy"? I was thinking about using SIA out of LAX or SFO. Thanks. Regards
  20. JB, Please enlighten me as to how you were able to get the discounted rate at Sabai Lodge (was it for the 14 day stay?). Also, did you pay the full bill at the end of your stay by credit card? Thanks for the info. Regards
  21. I wanted to get some current info on the Hard Rock hotel in Pattaya, as to rates, girl-friendliness, and overall satifaction level from punters. I have read all the FLB hotel reviews on the Hard Rock, and the most recent indicates that the place is more family oriented. The big draw for me is the large pool, and goood location. Sometimes they offer promotions that can make it a little more affordable. Regards
  22. Deleted, Thanks for the link! Yes, you are correct about my desire to fly Singapore. My experience with them has always been great. Cathay has a similar schedule as you mentioned. Regards
  23. Howdy, I am trying to get a recomendation for a good airfare consolidator in the San Diego/Los Angeles area. I want to buy a fare from two different carriers to LOS (gives me a better connection) and I need to go through a travel agent for this. I like using Singapore Air from SFO to HKG and then pick up Cathay Pacific from HKG to LOS. I have done this before and it works quite well. Regards
  24. Deleted, One time I actually purchased my SFO-HKG leg on Singapore, and then, to make the better connection, I purchased the HKG-BKK leg on Cathay Pacific. I was happy with both, but Singapore was a standout. Regards
  25. CheshireTom, I am assuming that your comments apply to the Sabai Inn, and not the Sabai Lodge, as both have been discussed here. Regards
