I noticed also that the Paris-Gulf leg used a spanking new aircraft (777?) but the Gulf-BKK leg used a tired plane. I guess the money traffic is first leg and cheap chaalie sex tourists are 2nd leg...and who knows about the 3rd leg?

Rooms are tired, no doubt. However this is secondary when there is a pussy rubbing your face and tight lips aroubnd your cock. Great bar, dirty girls. Emil eats lunch there regularly.

I was too busy shivering to see them. I stand corrected.

If you have your card give it to them at check in and the miles will be credited. Their website should tell you the miles required.

Have flown several times from Paris. They are ok, not great but up to the job. Be prepared for a layover in the Gulf of up to 4-5 hours and both Bahrain and Dubai airports are dead boring. No pubs (of course) and...FREEZING FUCKING COLD!!!! Cheap oil = cheap air con! The Arabs are wearing jellabas so they are warm but I had on very lightweight clothes and froze my ass off. Make sure you have a sweater with you.

Yes, probably the safer way to do it, let them be happy thinking you are living on the 800K. Let the money earn interest offshore and use it to top up the 800K. I expect they don't care where the 800K comes from. You could use the offshore funds for exceptional purchases via visa card or for when you travel abroad. Its pretty tight if the principal is held in a good reputable tax haven and the interest is paid into a second chequing account (with debit card) also in a tax haven. If you choose your haven carefully the authorities will meet with a blank wall if they come asking questions, but i

I am very happy with K-Bank. The one-time PW is very good and it expires after 6 minutes. I have also used the system over a landline from Canada after extensive vetting by K-Bank that I was who I said I was. Good English speakers on their end, too.

Don't bring the interest into Thailand if you don't have to. Get an offshore interest-paying account that pays monthly or quarterly interest into a second offshore chequing account that is accessible with their credit/debit card. Stick 800K baht (US$20K or 12K sterling) into a Thai bank. W/D funds as needed from the offshore bank via your debit card avoiding your 800K as much as you can. At the beginning of the next year top up to 800K again. I did this for years while living in France and its dead easy.

ORAL Sex: Separate bedrooms, screaming "...and fuck you, too!"

I think this stuff is very far down their list of priorities.

Very sleepy but pleasant. No nightlife "scene" but girls are available, tuktuk guys will offer to you and often the girl is in the tuktuk. People go out to drink beer and shoot the shit, samesame as other places. Go, its a special place.

Reasonable price to buy vs. western property. In terms of cap rate, forget it. Ask BM OnMyWay about this, he was very successful in real estate in the US.

I've heard your place already is a flying circus

As usual, Owen's comments are very worthwhile reading and thinking about. I've done well in RE having sold 3 homes at real good profits. BUT, I am a baby boomer born 1947 and at the edge of the wedge that propelled the housing booms of the past 25 years so my success was due to me choosing a good year to be born in. My wife and I scrupulously avoided debt. You don't have to have everything you see, life isn't about stuff. I was always amused at that Toyota 4WD ad showing wage slaves throwing their ties out the window as they headed off to "freedom" in their new 4WD. Hahaha! The ad didn't te

Had a totally mediocre pizza in there about 2 weeks ago. Formulaic and about on par with Pizza Hut. Had a far better one in a mom and pop joint in the arcade off 2nd Road near soi Diana.

From Paris, try www.anyway.com Prices will be higher than going out of the UK but if you are already en France then the added cost and hassle of getting to London will nullify any price advantage. I've done it 3 times with Gulf Air but the layover in Bahrain is about 4 hours and it is: 1) The world's most boring fucking airport 2) The world's coldest fucking airport, they keep the aircon about -67 degrees which is dandy if you're wearing a jellabah, less dandy if you are heading for Siam in light clothes.

And some are lost no matter where they are...

To come back just take the b-bus along 2nd road, get off at a soi near where you live and walk up 5 mins. There are mototaxis, too. 30 baht.
-
Don't stay right on the soi, tons of good places on the sois running east and west around soi 10/11/12 and south. If you absolutely must get to Walking St. there are baht buses every 9 seconds that take you to the corner of 2nd Road and South Pattaya Rd, a 3 min. walk on a sidewalk to WS.

Lots of info if you search "buakhow"

What Owen says here about Crashes and Inflation is bang on. In my own experience, In 1991 we sold everything, my wife closed her biz and we fucked off from Canada to a French village. Money was stashed offshore in GB pounds. We were getting 10.25% interest and 10.5 Francs/Pound. We owned our home and had about CDN$36K a year clear. Good wine and good food, happy as shit. Life was good until Aug/Sept 1992. One night, watching TV that little smarmy cunt John Major and his equally squalid dwarf of a finance minister came on to say they had devalued the pound by 20%. Great news. We now

An Ozzie I know found a nice condo at a bargain price in Jomtien through a Brit agent. Paid the money but papaerwork took a long time. Three months later he got his money back with no interest. The condo was in the guy's window with a sold sign on it for 50% more than originally. Agent had used my friend's money to buy it and re-sell.

A lot of them burned their bridges back home being dodgy now they are here doing samesame. Good info, caveat emptor.

Good move Davieboy. Next time try TD Travel Direct in Richmond very near IKEA. Taiwanese agency and they get decent prices, hard to beat 1K though.

I sat next to a guy TPE-BKK who is the on-site manager for all the glass work. He said it will open, in his opinion, on the King's birthday in December. This way the focus is shifted from all the BS, incompetence and corruption and everybody can smile. BTW, he told me the contract for the exterior glass alone was US$165 mil.
