  1. google air asia for cheap flights. from chiang mai or nong kai overnight train to BKK works well. cheap and you get a good bed. transport and sleep all in for about 12 pounds.
  2. Another entire thread devoted to 10baht, rivals the bahtbus thread.
  3. Beach Road girl, no condom.
  4. Great idea! There aren't enough bars and restaurants in Pattaya.
  5. nice one doug, always good to get a deal especially on something like a house. sounds like you are enjoying life! well done!
  6. I'm gonna need a RT ticket from BKK > LHR or CDG in late April. Dows anybody know a good, reliable agent in BKK or Pattaya who does cheap flights? Thanks, any info is appreciated.
  7. There's a 200baht joint on the right side of soi Honey Inn between Bay Breeze and Sawasdee about 50 yards up from 2nd Road. Several BGs stay there that I have seen.
  8. V&M Terrace, soi buakhow across from Family Mart about 80 yards from Central Road. Clean, well-located, nice open bar, pool table, small swimming pool. 400/night, 6700/month=235 a day. Nice staff, lobby safe box.
  9. Internet prices are always the highest. Hotel, house & condo rental, tours, house & condo purchase doesn't matter, net is for suckers IMO. Bargains are on the ground. Maybe try to come over a month before the family and suss everything out. Have some sanuk as your reward for finding a lovely house for the family at a good price.
  10. Thipurai about 1K baht, small rooftop pool. Guest friendly. I have heard good things about Peony, I believe they have a webpage.
  11. sailfast, lots of info and a good map at www.huahinafterdark.com
  12. Only Eva for me from Vancouver to Asia. Best schedule, best value.
  13. Save money, Star Inn. Doesn't get much closer!
  14. Decor is sad and dated but the furnishings are top notch
  15. Never mind what it costs back home. Totally irrelevant. Don't make too many plans, just get on the plane. 100 in three months is par, basically one a day. Nowhere near the pace set by esteemed boardie Mirkwood.
  16. I wouldn't base my choice of airline on a 1-hour difference in arrival time. So you get to BKK centre at 3am instead of 2am. AFAIK you can get your chain pulled at that hour. After a long flight I want three things: Hot shower A good blast Sleep between clean sheets
  17. www.thaivisa.com lots of info there if you buy from falang you can negotiate like in the west Thais like to set their price and not negotiate, often happy to see it empty
  18. Your post is titled New Bar so I made a leap of Pattaya logic concerning the phrase "short time". My mistake. cheers
  19. Do you mean ST or nightly? Bit confusing.
  20. ST means Short Time. You rent the room for youknowhat. Not a hotel.
  21. 700baht for ST rental? Why? I'm not there to look at DVDs. Ruby room is 250 ST and its equivalent to some hotel rooms.
  22. We don't get to choose which one we fly in. The airlines do that. Just get me there safely, at a decent price and reasonably on time.
  23. They all get subsidies, impossible to operate otherwise. Airbus subs are just more visible. US subsidies operate a little differently. Gov't says develop and build it (often with cost-plus contracts) and we will buy xxx units, thus guaranteeing a market for it. Costly R&D etc is then usable in the non-military sector. Its big biz, that's all.
