Hi If I moved, books and cd's is about all I'd bring. All my electrical and electronic equipment is nearly obselete and furniture etc can be bought in LOS. Most of my clothing is too heavy duty for LOS so I'd replace that with stuff bought in LOS. Good luck to everyone making the move.

Hi, Everybody has their own tastes, but I'd say no matter what my age I'd still be happy in somewhere like Jomtien, just a short trip into the fleshpots of Pattaya. I like to be near the sea, seems to have a relaxing effect on me despite all the craziness and noise around. Wouldn't mind living somewhere in Isaan for a while to see what it is like. Generally I think it's best to keep an open mind, but it's nice to have the option to move on. Wouldn't give a damn about friends opinion BTW.

Hi One important thing you guys dont factor in is the availability of nice female company when the need arises. IMO this is a big plus as when you become a mature gentleman like me the availability drops off in farangland. I'm sure the guys on a 60/80 baht budget have much more pleasant female company than they would in farangland.

Hi My respiratory system is my achilles heel, however I never catch colds in LOS. I eat lots of hot Thai food and soup and I think that may be the reason. An old hand who lives in the boonies told me Tom Yung is very good as a medicine.

Hi LOS is great for us more mature gentlemen. We can find acceptable company for a smaller cost than farangland. Once you reach a certain age in farangland pretty women are hard to get and they will give you lots of trouble on the odd occasion you meet one. That's why most boardies would rather stay in Thailand if at all possible.

Hi I agree with that remark, plenty of nice places wont charge guest fees and you will be less likely to see too many large falang ladies.

Hi Plenty IMO. I live on a lot less and usually eat in a nice restaurant at night. I rarely go with GG girls so that is a saving as nice BB girls are nicer and cheaper IMO. I think the more you get to know the place the less expenditure you will entail. I have never rang a bell in Pattaya or any where else for that matter. Sinbinjack seems the type of guy who has control of his money, and he is planning on a long stay this year, might be a good guy to contact for money saving tips.

I really liked the Estiny Residence Hotel on Soi 10. Hi Bill, Haven't stayed in Eastiny but Sawadee Sea View is only hotel I can think of on Soi 10. Have to try Eastiny's some time as get good reviews on this board.

Hi You usually can pay a joiner fee if you keep bringing different girls. Looking at the place it looks upmarket so will probably have to pay extra for lady. Nobody else seems to know anymore.

Hi Had a quick look for you as havent stayed at this hotel. It seems a nice place, but dosen't look like a mongers hotel and is a long way from the main action. Type of place I would stay if with G/F.
