  1. Dunghie, Already mentioned on another board but the Darjeeling on Soi 18 and Sacha's on Soi 19 are much better bets in a similar price range.
  2. He may wish that he did stay at the Nana. The Windsor Suites are a bit of a shithole.
  3. Brown1950, Thanks again. Hopefully, the premium seats will be pretty decent and worth the extra outlay.
  4. 1950. Thanks for that ..... I don't want to appear cheeky but any ideas of timings/aircraft type/seating/fares etc?
  5. Obsession, There are a whole host of ifs and buts and varies greatly by province (and even between schools within the provinces). Probably best she chucks her questions to the folks at ajarn.com forum but even then she is likely to get a whole host of conflicting responses.
  6. It depends on the position as to whether or not you need a degree. If she can get a job/contract offer before leaving UK then she could save a few quid by getting a B Type visa from Hull prior to her departure. To do so she would need a copy of a provisional offer of employment.
  7. Jacko, At the moment I'm able to download a 750 mb movie in around 30 mins at 400+ kbps so, down here at least, Maxnet is pretty much living up to the hype.
  8. Not only good news for the LOS=based guys but also the guys in OZ (and UK from early next year) as the removal of the fuel surcharge also applies to AirAsia X flights ........ AirAsia scraps fuel surcharge 5 hours ago KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) — Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia on Tuesday scrapped fuel surcharges on all its flights including on long-haul carrier AirAsia X, to drum up business amid the global downturn. AirAsia chief executive officer Tony Fernandes said the regional carrier's fares will remain unchanged, as falling oil prices enable it to make air travel more affordable. "We want to get rid of all surcharges and we have been able to... be the first airline in the world that is completely getting rid of fuel surcharges," he told reporters. "This initiative recognises the current economic situation and the need to provide more affordable and transparent air fares for business and leisure travellers," he added. Southeast Asia's largest budget carrier implemented the fuel surcharge in July 2005, in line with other airlines as the price of oil soared, reaching 147 dollars per barrel in July this year, and easing to around 60 dollars now. AirAsia passengers pay an average fuel surcharge of 47 ringgit (13 dollars) on each sector. The carrier said passengers will still have to pay other taxes -- a 22.50 ringgit administration and insurance charge and airport tax of 6.00 ringgit for domestic flights and 25.00 ringgit on international routes.
  9. LTGTR, I'm on Maxnet 4096/512 package at 1070 Baht a month incl the VAT. I'm downloading a Jap movie at the moment at 383 kbps ....... I couldn't have even contemplated such a thing with TOT.
  10. Is she after sharing a taxi or what?
  11. That must have been the world's biggest Airfix model they presented to the world 15 months ago. As was pointed out at the time ............... And that's pretty much what they done.
  12. I must say that up until now I've had pretty decent service from TT&T. As for TOT, the best that can be said is that it was "an experience".
  13. I spotted a great number 8 at Sabaidee and there's certainly no shortage of hookers to choose from.
  14. I had a course of physio (around 18-20 visits over a 4 week period) at PIH a few years back to try and sort out an old rugby back injury. Each session was around an hour and included being strapped onto and stretched on a medieval like rack. Although progress was, quite literally, painfully slow (touch wood) I've not had any major recurrences since.
  15. Does this mean that BigD will be completing his Boeing 787 on Schedule to Fly in 2007 2008 2009 trilogy? A cynic could be forgiven that Boeing actually wanted the recent strike to take place in order to paper over some known issues and avoid compensation payments to the airlines for the resulting delays.
  16. for ONLY 600 Baht.
  17. You used to (in the 80s/90s) be able to cash the now defunct eurocheques at places like the old Thai Farmers Bank ....... they had a limit of four (DM300) cheques per visit and wrote the cheque numbers on the back of your departure card.
  18. The short connection is the last flight of the day. I wouldn't worry too much ......... if the worst comes to the worst, Cathay will put you up and fly you to BKK the next morning.
  19. I stay regularly at the serviced apartments directly opposite this place and have watched it go up from scratch. Like several of the so-called boutique hotels that have sprung up around lower Sukhumvit over the last few years. the place looks good but the actual building standards and general workmanship are awful. I'd be wary about initially booking more than a day or two at the place until I'd satisfied myself that they had sorted out the works. If they have, the prices reflect good value for the area and as the OP pointed out. it's only about a five minute walk to the new skytrain link at Exchange Tower on Asoke junction.
  20. There are 3 in Naklua, 6 on 3rd road and 3 in Na Jomtien. Easy to find.
  21. Manhattans at Nirvana Place. http://www.manhattans-pattaya.com/index.ph...membership.html
  22. I just sort of assumed that his mum would have packed his bags for him. Don't know why.
  23. The plane wouldn't take off 'without' you. They'd have to open up the holds, find the bin that contained your bag(s) and then find your bags before offloading them. And then reload the aircraft again.
  24. glyn, Thanks for that link. It looks an interesting option for that part of town and the rooms are of a really good size.
  25. They don't give a reason. Essentially it means they believe that you are simply attempting to circumvent the rules i.e. your stay pertains to something other than "tourism". Your question would probably be better answered on Thai Visa (if you've not already posted there).
