  1. Probably one for the expats ... what do you need to watch live football in Pattaya nowadays? I know that CTH does the EPL, but what about the Champions League, FA Cup, La Liga, Bundesliga, Thai Premier League etc? What about the World Cup next year? Who has the broadcasting rights for that?
  2. He came "on board" after race 5, with the score at 4-0 and lost four of his first six races with the team, so he didn't have the immediate impact that some of the UK press would have you believe. I think there were was also a couple of New Zealanders in the America team.
  3. Don't go telling everyone! Its business class is exceptional and economy is a very good 34" in a 2-4-2 configuration on an A330. Well worth subscribing to their newsletter as their flights don't appear in many searches.
  4. I'm not sure that it was an out and out scam. You say that it is "always 50 Baht", but it was "around midnight". I don't think that it's unreasonable to expect some sort of price hike after midnight for private hires.
  5. It was actually 8 consecutive victories; from being 8-1 down, to winning 9-8. It was basically a World 11 v a NZ 11 and it was on at an odd time for Thailand, so I only really caught it on the news. I was otherwise engrossed watching the US guy winning La Vuelta and the Thai women doing their thing in the volleyball.
  6. The OP didn't ask for anything portable that fitted in a briefcase. Quite the opposite, in fact. Consider if, for example, someone had asked where they could rent a mobility scooter in Pattaya and someone had posted a cut and paste of Best Buy Wheelchairs from Which?.
  7. Maybe someone thought otherwise - hence the negative vote, and nothing to do with spite or anything else. If someone asked where they could rent a motorbike in Pattaya, and I responded by pasting US consumer report motorbike ratings, my post, somewhat unsurprisingly, might attract a few negative votes.
  8. A lot more helpful than your threadfuck.
  9. I didn't give BigD a reddie, but I can understand why someone would. He didn't provide a link to the reviews, and if he did, all you would find is an invitation to subscribe to the magazine. Not very useful at all, IMHO.
  10. I lived in Dusseldorf for several years and, as far as I could understand, the firebombing destroyed most of the roofs but left the walls intact - hence so many different roof styles atop almost identical buildings. I remember Freiburg particularly well because the local Ronnie Mac's wasn't allowed to display the golden arches outside its restaurant - it would lower the tone of the place apparently.
  11. Agreed. I love the Altstadt areas found in most major German cities - Freiburg is my particular favourite.
  12. Presumably because it's the rainy season on the Andaman coast. Because the sea can be extremely volatile they raise flags to warn against swimming etc.
  13. We have a winner!
  14. Watched it on the box - great atmosphere. They played really well to beat the Chinese in the semi-final as well.
  15. You need to give some indication of your preferred price and location.
  16. Compared to where? It's a lot easier than it is for a Thai to visit the UK. I think it's those guys who don't meet the financial requirements that they want to discourage - I can't see a lot wrong with that.
  17. I never pointed out anything negative about Tony Pulis or Stoke City's style of football. That's your imagination at work again. Why do you feel compelled to make things up? As it is, I'll be the first to congratulate them if they match Arsenal on Sunday - it'll be a good indication of how far they've "evolved". I currently support Songkhla United. I follow Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Arminia Bielefeld - reflecting where I've spent most of my adult life.
  18. I wasn't being critical - I understand you most of the time. And your English is better than my French, despite the so-called "Auld Alliance" There was another thread running a few days ago which laid out the requirements to go down the conversion/extension route. I don't think anything has changed in Thailand since then.
  19. Is your first language English?
  20. You'll have to provide a passport, photos and evidence confirming that you satisfy the financial requirements - just like you have to do in the UK. For lots of guys, it will be easier to get the visa in the UK ... for example, those who are not intent on staying in farang strongholds such as Pattaya and Phuket and would otherwise have to travel to Bangkok (twice) to do the conversion.
  21. The nearest branch to Pattaya is?
  22. I always believed you had to convert to the proper visa (O-Type) before you could do a year's extension. If you're saying you can get a one-year extension without any visa ...
  23. Good stuff if you intend spending your entire holiday on the bahtbus route. I know lots of guys who do and they seem to enjoy themselves. However, the motosai taxi system is meant to complement the songthaew/bus networks (not replace them) by providing quick local transportation, normally "off-route". Lots of guys, and girls, find that really convenient.
  24. I was referring to single guys 50+, or 65+ as per Post 10.
  25. I've never expressed any distaste for Stoke City. That's your imagination playing tricks. I actually have a lot of time for Tony Pulis ... I think he averaged close to 1.4 points per game during his six years at Stoke under Coates.
