I need to give up hotels!
CheshireTom replied to teelack's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
The comments weren't made by me, neither were they contained in the earlier thread that I referred to. You need to address your concerns to the author. -
Health care for Thais
CheshireTom replied to flighty's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Not at all. Anything that's picked up, you can choose to then visit your nominated public hospital to deal with it. Everything will depend on which nominated hospital is shown on her card. If it's in Isaan and she lives away from home, that's where the problems come in for anything other than emergency treatment - if that makes sense. -
Aye, but we can still hope that he's another Torres or Shevchenko ...

De Canio would be second on my list. I'm not a fan of Hughes at all - not convinced he can manage changing-room politics.
-
I'll take ManU for the title at the 3/1 that's on offer with SkyBet, and 25/1 on Hughes to be the first managerial casualty (also with SkyBet).

Health care for Thais

The 30 Baht scheme is still in existence although it's now free (Universal Health Care System) - basically for anyone not covered by the Civil Service and/or Social Security schemes (plus a few other exceptions, e.g. teachers at private schools). That said, if you want an annual check-up (blood, x-ray, ultrasound etc) they are carried out at most, if not all, private hospitals and normally cost a couple of thousand Baht. Different checks are done according to sex/age. -
I think the overall flight times from the east coast on the likes of Qatar aren't much different from, for example EVA. And they're competitively priced at less than USD 1,200.

I need to give up hotels!
CheshireTom replied to teelack's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Nobody, certainly not me, suggested they were/are a reason to avoid the place - only that they appeared to make up the majority of guests. To quote from the report on my recent visit to Bangkok. Again no suggestion whatsoever that anyone should avoid the hotel ... if anything, quite the opposite. "Just to finish off … a couple of comments about Bangkok. Native English speaking tourists in Bangkok appear to form a small minority in the 4/5* hotels. There were lots of west Asian muslims around (it was the week following Eid-al-Fitr) (confusingly many were speaking quite refined English in their groups), Indians and Russians. And contrary to what is often written, they were well-behaved, corteous and obviously not short of a few bob." And? I am pretty familiar with the Sabai Group properties, having stayed at them for many years from 1999 when the Inn first opened and have recommended their properties several times on this forum starting from when I first joined this forum in mid-2002. I'm sure I have also done a few pictorial reports about the Inn. -

Well, absolutely nothing except that the condos were shabby and the guests were mainly Indian, Arab and Russian and the location was convenient for Walking Street. But, in the same thread, another BM described the units he was shown as being "fine" and "clean". -

Always happy to help. 1. Type "Yensabai" into the search box at the top right of the page. 2. Set to search Forums. 3. Click the Search button. 4. On the list of results, it's the first thread below this one. Easy peasy. -

There you go - BigD reckons it was OK around 10 years ago. What more do you need? Apart from that, there was a thread about the place last month - if you look it up, it may answer your concerns. -

I need to give up hotels!
CheshireTom replied to teelack's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
It is/was on Soi 3 and they offer a 30 m2 room for around 20k per month. I assume teelack knows the owners. Personally, I'd just book a decent place for a couple of nights and see what's available when I got to Pattaya. -

And then what? Click on Apartment for Rent and the best deal is ... almost 30k a month. -
Sorry. When we were talking about promotion, I thought we were talking about Hull, Palace and Cardiff.

Who with, Chelsea or Spurs? This is a thread to have a bit of banter about the footie, not which BGs have moved during the transfer window and to promote some GoGo.

Using the Image > Adjustments > Variations command in Photoshop makes it very easy to achieve a quick fix to remove a colour cast. -

Me next! 1) Original Image. 2) Patna's Correction. 3) Pete's correction. 4) My correction. Adjusted in OnOne Perfect Effects Photoshop Plug-in as shown below ... -
If you're having an actual bet, you should mention it at the beginning of the thread. None of this, "I forgot to mention that I had 50 quid on United" (or whoever) at the end of the season crap. I must say I'm surprised that more "names" (other than Tevez) haven't left City, especially with a World Cup year coming up. And it still remains to see who can get through the England-Scotland "friendly" game unscathed.

It appears to be a fully functioning village (dorf) these days. I remember my first visit to the stadium to watch Bayern play Liverpool in 1981. Graeme Souness gave a footballing masterclass against Paul Breitner to ensure The Reds qualified for the final in Paris. What I found incredible, apart from the stadium itself, was that trams ran all the way from the city centre into the complex. We didn't do sensible things like that in the UK.

They could/should make a movie about her life story .... A big "Well Done!" to Ratchanok Intanon on winning the Women's Singles title at the World Championships in Guangzhou.

It is in the fare rules for that particular offer. Stopovers in HKG allowed in both directions at no extra charge. You'd need a decent travel agent to do the booking for you (Travelbag or Trailfinders shop come to mind), but it's a good option. Terms and Conditions 1. Sale period until 10 August 2013. 2. Fares are for travel from London Heathrow. 3. Valid on all CX/KA operated flights. 4. Dates changes: Permitted at GBP100. 5. On changing the outbound travel date when permitted, if the itinerary results in a higher fare then difference applies along with the date change fee. If the itinerary results in a lower fare then the date change fee still applies and no refund will be made. 6. Name changes are not allowed. 7. Cancellations/Refunds: No refund. 8. No-show: Fee of GBP100 if re-booking only. 9. Stopovers permitted in HKG free of charge on both directions. 10. Fares are subject to change without prior notice. Other Terms and Conditions apply. 11. The fares detailed in the offer/promotion are subject to availability and offered on a first come, first served basis. The limited number of seats for the subject fare allocated to a particular flight may be fully booked although seats are still available in other fare types in the same class of travel. Note: The fares displayed include taxes, fees and surcharges, which are subject to change at the time of booking due to currency fluctuations.
