  1. Your previous couple of posts have nothing to do with drug dealing in the Nana area. Lots of major farang criminals (and an assortment of weird looking guys) can be found around the Soi Nana area of Bangkok. The only thing you're holding is Chucky. The same could be said for farangs since the last major drugs bust in the area involved an Australian and a Brit, with not an African in sight. BTW, you've not responded to my offer of dinner at Nefertiti's. I'll send you a map of how to get there if you're not familiar with the area, and best wear one of those Yankees caps so that I can recognise you.
  2. Outside of Purgatory and his Boeing is Kicking Euro Butt nonsense - precisely six this year. I'll give you a hint - don't read the threads in Purgatory or the Boeing v Airbus crap. You'll feel much better for the experience, or lack of.
  3. Old news. Airline Discussion - PC Air
  4. Under 35K with Qatar. You'll need to piss around with the dates a bit, but the fares are there.
  5. Can't be any worse than getting set up by an Israeli for the death penalty in Indonesia?
  6. That wasn't too difficult to predict ...
  7. You don't remember correctly.
  8. At least on the A380, the onboard showers are optional.
  9. Agreed. There's the fat, useless, ugly monstrosity that's been subsidised by the taxpayer for years - and then there's the A380.
  10. I noticed that some of these senator geezers are now highlighting the difference as Airbus receives "foreign subsidies".
  11. That should read "in some BKK soapies, some farangs pay a surchage". However, if you're spending enough dosh and they want your repeat custom, the 'surcharge' tends to disappear. The charge exists simply because they see the "average farang" as only wanting to spend his 1.8-2.5k on one bird and then fuck-off. On the other hand, the average Asian is just as likely to spend several hours eating and drinking (and racking up a substantial bin in the process). Don't think of it as a farang surcharge, but more a minimum spend that's applied at the discretion of the mamasan/papasan.
  12. Your personal example would suggest that your Arabic speaking salesperson agrees the sale (as did the TG with the OP) and the customer, being a generous sort of guy, then invites the rest of the staff out for a bit of food and partying. He (the customer) then gets pissed off when you and your staff spend the whole night conversing in English rather than Arabic.
  13. The misunderstanding has nothing to do with the tone - it's the same tonal pronounciation for rice (ข้าว khaaoF) and nine (เก้า gaaoF). The initial consonants are different. If you're fucking up on the tones, there's a whole host of reasons that would explain their lack of comprehension - does he want to come in, buy a mountain, listen to the news or eat my friend? rice .... nine ... My own personal experience with Thais in general is that they appreciate you making the effort to speak the lingo and are more than tolerant of any cock-ups that you make - and I make them with monotonous regularity.
  14. Unfortunately, you fuck-up your own argument. I've started well over 100 threads in the past year. As for pouncing on other people's threads ... Shilo, the ungrateful cunt, helped out again You may also want to take a look at those threads over almost 10 years where I've responded to you and highlight any flames or threadfucking on my part. Is Shilo full of shit?
  15. Thai social rudeness? You're having a laugh, mate! What's to stop the OP joining in the conversation? My recollection is somewhat different. You were bemoaning that one particular website aimed at Thais was written in Thai and not English. Right next to the link was another link that said "Translate this page". Obviously too difficult a concept for some, but I took the time and made the effort to provide you with the information in English. Remember? It was also pointed out to you that there are millions of tourists visiting thailand who don't speak English. I don't have a lot of respect for guys who think that the obligation is on the Thais to adapt for geezers who don't see why there should be any effort on their part. Anyway, to save you getting your knickers in a twist again this year .... Obviously a bit of a pain for you that they include Japanese, Korean, Russian, Arabic and Chinese in the ads though. On the plus side it's got to be better than you wandering round BigC and freaking out because the offers are in Thai.
  16. Is this a wind-up, or are you serious?
  17. Me personal experience is that it's cheaper to eat out. My culinary experiments at home are limited to coffee, corn flakes and whatever can be eaten straight from the fridge.
  18. LOL. Always good for a laugh!
  19. They still need to be depreciated and maintained. Even 2nd hand, a basic truck isn't cheap and you've then got to add on servicing and repairs, cleaning, insurance and fuel. It isn't necessities that blow your cost of living estimates, but all the other things that seem to crop up with monotonous regularity.
  20. Or as Scally would say, "Evolutionary, not revolutionary!".
  21. A quick look at the hotel website shows both the address and map are both in English, but, as far as I could see, not Thai - pretty useless to the non-English speaking driver. Maybe a lesson for those guys that run some of the smaller hotels/guesthouses.
  22. Unless he's an employee of Mr T, the job is simply passed along the line. Mr T, and the other agents, have no actual control over the individual drivers - that's down to the airport-based mobs.
  23. Andy, The drivers generally don't wait for hours and hours (unless they are company employees). They are whoever happens to be at the airport at any given time. Of course, there's no harm in spinning the line if it results in a bigger tip.
