As someone 'in the business' there will be cancellations and the odd deal around at Xmas but these usually only come up a week or several days before departure. At the moment, most UK departing Airlines are inthe process of fixing their Xmas prices. I would hold on untill the first week in September when the new rates are announced then book and pay.

GUS ! be carefull and book your flight early End of Jan, beginning of Feb is Chinese New Year time and flights get VEY busy round that time.

Did it a few years ago. The only problem I found was that it was full of Dutch people who were a little 'loud' but that was probably excitement, other than that, couldnt fault it. Food was OK.

Some airlines will provide a Hotel room for shwer etc if mor than a 12 hour layover. have you asked ?

You really need to understand the French beaurocracy then you will understand the silliness of it all. Dont forget. Blatant Plug here, but sometime in October I should have my ATOL (cross fingers) and will be selling Long Haul Airtickets once again.. I was around in the 80' as Thai Travel but sold the company due to many problems, not the least being that I smashed 3 discs in my back. People that bought Thai Travel thought they could sit back and wait for the cash to roll in, without working for it. It failed. I'm back and fit again so decided to restart the business, this time with full Bonding. As before I will be selling Air tickets as cheaply as possible whilst still needing to make a profit. But what are Eva's rates compared to Thai?. I travelled on Eva on one of its very first UK-BKK flights and wasnt impressed. Since then I have preferred Gulfair but as from next year I will be in Thailand around 4 times a year so will need to sort out decent flights for myself.

Dont know why they did that as it was the long way round. In the UK you will sometimes notice on the ticket that the prices is something like £750-£950 which is the standard listed IATA fare LHR-BKK-LHR but Consolidators will sell this ticket to agents at say £400 for the Agent to sell it on at anything over say £450. I suspect it may well have been a slight scam for the agency trying to improver their figures or even may have been that their consolidator has specified that they must sell the ticket at the stated ticket price even though their prices was far far lower.

Well you could do what I didi and start a Travel Agency ? I ran group trips to Bangkok and Pattaya in the 80's. 4 trips a year WHEW !!!!!!!!!!! [smiley=wink.gif] Restarting them in 2004 (after I get my ATOL)

The best one that happened to me was when my Bank called and told me they had stopped my card for overspending. I pleaded not guilty to them and asked for a statemnt showing transactions. When it arrived I fell apart laughing and rang them back. The transaction had taken place at 20.23 Hrs on the day that I had caught a plane from Don Muang at 18.20hrs. I could easily prove I was on the plane when the dirty deed was done. They creidted me with the money and issued me with a new card.

Best deals I found for Tourists were on teletext Finnair at £365 seemed to be about the best of the cheapest, but from LHR Im going out in September too. See ya there

I emailed 5 Hotels in Pattaya yesterday (wednesday) for Room rates and availability. This morning (Thursday) I recieved the first reply from Apex Hotel and 1 hour later from the Flipper. Maybe this should be a regular thing to see who does and doesnt reply to email requests and the time periods involved ? [smiley=banghead.gif]
