Air Lanka used to do it and the fare wasnt bad either but, if I remember correctly there was a hell of a long change of aircraft, which put a lot of people off (9 hours methinks), but if you are stopping over then that wouldnt be that bad, there isnt much in the way of nightlife, well there wasnt last time I was there in 92 though Bellboys at hotels can sort you out a girl or two.

Over the last 15 years, basic Economy fares for UK to Thailand havent really risen. Just checking one of my very old price lists shows Gulfair at around the £400 mark and Thai at £450, not that much difference ? A good fare is one that you are happy with. I'd ask them to hold it for you, which, this early they should be able to do for 3 months or so. Dont pay up front for a flight in July though

Why not try the Dianna Inn ? Ask for the pool view rooms out the back 600 Baht I think, no probs with joiner

And if you fly Turkish, take your own food, drinks and toilet paper

If you cant get what you want, then ask to be waitlisted on several flights, though dont try waitlisting the same flight with different companies as they all end up on the same computer. Many large Tour operators hold block allocations on many flights and when they see they cant sell them they will release them.

If your fixed on those outbound and inbound dates, that will be the problem. What about GulfAir ?

Its also worth pointing out that many if not all companies websites do not show last minute offers or deals, and its always worth the time making a few calls and asking if there are any special or last minute offers.

Nahhh I brought one back for 3 months in 1986. It was a lot of fun. She knew there wasnt going to be any marriage proposals or anything and she was fine when it was time to go home. Its pretty pointless trying to reconfim your flight more than 2 weeks in advance as they will probably not know of any problems with timings etc. Also some airlines like Gulfair wont allow you to reconfirm untill 3 weeks in advance max
