You're an honest bunch here ! Just package it up and maybe put some brown paper on it so that it does not look like a TV box then walk it through the green channel. On the trolley, it will be fairly well hidden by a suitcase or other baggage anyway. In any case, any temporary import should not attract taxes as it will, at some unspecified future date, be expoerted again. That date never comes around because it breaks beforehand and has to be thrown away. On a technical note, the TV signal here is crap on Sophon and UBC so that HD 1024 models actually make the picture worse. DVDs ar

Jacko is right about a long departed ferry as I researched this myself some years ago and my ex girlfriend was from Phetchburi so it would have been ideal for us as well. We used to drive. I reckon you'll take about 5 to 6 hours. You should plan when you are going to skirt Bangkok (avoid rush hour). The drive to Hua Hin is a nice one and fairly trouble free.

As a chance to get together and as a special thanks to Liz, Chris and all those who donated their time, effort and money to the Kids Bike Appeal, I’ve decided to chuck on a party ! We’re going to have it at I'm Easy Too in the Siren Boxing complex, just outside of Walking Street at 8pm on Saturday 17th November . Not sure what will be on the menu but be in no doubt that you will be able to fill your bellies with whatever we can rustle up from our balloon chasing tour the previous evening ! Perhaps a packet of crisps and a prawn sandwich or two but perhaps a whole lot more. You’

for you that have never been to pattaya
torrenova replied to cowboy's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Sorry to hear about your bad luck Cowboy. I hope that you'll get the chance to come through this so hang in there. As to the go now / wait debate, lets use Cowboy's numbers. $2500 (presuming after tax) is about Bt85,000 per month. Not bad but no millionaire. If you had to pay rent and wanted somewhere nice near town, say Bt25,000 then you'd have bills of another Bt20,000 (food, internet, clothes etc.) so you've Bt40,000 left to spend and replenish things which wear out. You won't be going out parrtying every night and you will have to watch the pennies though you'll be ok. What about i -
Or just get a regular Bt1 per minute DTAC Sim (Happy) and convert it to a Simple plan when you leave !

You don't need a new visa as your current one runs until December, then you would get an extension to stay based upon your work permit. I would get your passport back from your lawyer and go to the border. There is not enough time to sort out your WP beforehand I think.
-
That seems extreme at the other end and given the Diana Group's charitable work around Pattaya it would not look good for them to be paying so poorly. If they are cleaning hotel rooms then it is not so bad as they have the opportunity for tips but not for general cleaning with no chance of an uplift.
-
And you pay it ? Must be mad. Do you really think the cleaners get Bt150-200 per hour ? It was OTT 3 years ago at Bt250 and now is just a piss take. If they have to travel and only for your condo then perhaps higher pricing but not when they are downstairs anyway.

Has it got to be 2 beds and central. At around 30k I could possibly do 2 studios in Jomtien.

Bit of a shiter that if someone lets you down at the last minute and you've not got a deposit. A few years ago there were loads of threads about guys booking 3 or 4 rooms in high season then just picking the one they wanted without cancelling and look at it now, everywhere wants deposits and no-one wants to give them their credit card details. What would be a fair deposit anyway ? 25% ? -

Here's another thing. If you have a kid with a girl or presumably even adopt one and it has a british passport or is allowed to travel with you, the father, then the woman cannot be refused a visa to visit her child under european human rights legislation. You may have to fly first with the child but she a mother cannot be deprived from being with her child. -
Why would the papers actually undertake some investigative journalism ? I mean, day in, day out, there is so much corruption to comment on but they do nothing, preferring to socialise with the very people at the top of the corruption feeding trough. How do you get an illegal permit ? brown bags full of money same as in any corrupt society. Now those brown bags have been given out they cannot be reclaimed so it is in so-one's interest to investigate it. People move office, not the next guy's responsibility etc.

The condo is 200 feet up in the air silly, thus the references to flying burglers.
-
Sorry to say but with your budget adn the time of year I think you will be seriously struggling. A reasonable 2 bed condo on a 1 year lease could easily cost 30k+ and for such a short term at the peak period, I think they would command a significant premium. May I suggest, if possible, 2 studios in the same block, perhaps next to each other. Again, given the season, I think you'll have to raise your budget to 30k at least. I have studios and 1 beds in View Talay 2 but not 2 beds. If you want central place near your budget, you could try Yensabai. They are 40sqm but a 2 bed would b

Ranking: top restaurants - Pattaya
torrenova replied to jimmynewrider's topic in Restaurants and food
Sushi bar - Zen in Royal Garden. Basic Japanese - Osaka / Oshima (always forget name) 100m on a soi to the left of Tukcom. Lunch set Japanese - Fuji has a good set but some other stuff way overpriced for what it is. Thai - Vientianne - gone from Walking Street but still on Pattaya Tai. Fish etc. overpriced but dishes very good and soup excellent. The setting in the Sugar Hut is good but the mosquitoes are a pest. Food good though. Pizza - Soi 33 Naklua, nothing else comes close for Italian style pizza in Pattaya. Bread - Continental bakery English breakfast - actually lo -
I have yet to find a professional business to business agency which actually does what it says on the tin ! Seems Sunbelt are too busy with their personal franchise operations and they don't give a fuck that the information they give out is rubblies, lies or deceitful. ythey just say it is your business to do your homework. For 10% plus VAT they are a joke. The others are just as bad and I have tried to do business with all of them over the years.

Doubt it. Its 200 feet up in the air and unless you're spiderman or superman or some other flying creature, you're not coming in through the window are you ?

Sometimes you have to use an intermediary service and suffer their conversion rate. An example: You have Emirates miles but want Thai miles and cannot direct convert. You convert your Emirates to marriot points and then convert the Marriott points to Thai miles. Often not effective due to large spreads on the buy/sell between the three. I'd do to the internet and read up about transferring and then get an idea of what they are worth.

I'll take a 28" pitch for a trip to Singapore from Bangkok but not to London from KL. Then you'll have to re-check your baggage or even buy another ticket to get from KL to BKK. No back up planes, having to buy a blanket or water etc. Sounds bloody terrible for long haul. How much ? well the taxes should be the same so lets say a GBP500 flight is GBP 375 flight, GBP 125 taxes then they have GBP125 taxes to start. I doubt I would fly with them whatever the fare. Now thier business class, if they have one may be worth investigating.

I can probably do you a house in Soi Khaotalo for that or a bit less. I've a couple on the go, one just renovated (or should be finished now, must check on furniture). PM me and I'll forward details. I reckon both would be OK short term.

Errrrr No. Confirmed by AA Insurance by return email who I suspect asked for the thread to be deleted. All these group policies are crap unless you are at the top end of their age range and realise that the policy is minimalistic. Aa followed the expats lot and if you've been here a few years you'll know how much that has risen for the same care. then you're fucked at 65. great policy.

I have a spare line in Jomtien I could transfer if they can do it that far.

Not rocket science. I've had beer on ice for years and have the fridges regularly serviced, re gassed and just chuck the fans and motors away about once a year to avoid breakdowns and lack of performance. Keeping bottles in ice and water is not difficult but you have to be careful of how long they are in there and how you rotate them. I have some on ice due to a lack of space for a large (ish) variety (including some spirit bottles) but for people with enough space, they should have no need to put them on ice if they sort out their fridges and educate their staff. We all know that

There are a few systems around which are sold on the basis of a once only payment but how can they be anything other than pyramid schemes and where is the incentive to find update codes etc. when no-one is buying the system, thus leaving all the previous buyers with total duds. I'm sure there are a few around but I've not heard of anything which is making the local headlines.
