It's not quite the same thing. With bitcoin, you have to buy bitcoins in advance in order to use them. Since Le Pub takes BizPaye, let's do an example. Let's say I go to Le Pub and spend 600 baht in BizPaye currency. What Phil has had to do was pay, likely with Thai baht, for the beers that he sold me. His cost is under 600 baht, let's just say it was 300 baht for this example. At this point, Phil has a 600 BizPaye baht credit in his account (though he only actually spent 300 baht to get it), and he can use it anywhere that accepts BizPaye. And I have a 600 baht debit, which means I owe 600 baht to BizPaye users in the form of goods and services. If Phil comes to my place and spends 600 baht and he pays with BizPaye, then it gets credited to my account and debited from his account. And again, let's just assume the food I provided only cost me 300 baht. So in the end, we each got 600 baht worth of goods and services, but we each only spent 300 baht of actual Thai Baht.

Any business owners use this? For those who are not familiar, it's a business to business bartering service. If I spend 2000 baht of bizpaye cybermoney, then I have 2000 baht in my account from which other members can spend in my place and it doesn't have to be from the person whose business I used.

I have to be honest, "A well stocked bar" is a bit of an exaggeration. At the moment I STILL don't have margaritas on the menu. I am just using the bar to hold the makings until I find time to come up with the right recipes and pricing. I'm hoping I'll have time over the next couple of days to do just that and stock the bar (for margaritas). In case anyone wants to know why I STILL don't have them on the menu, it's a matter of staffing. It's terribly difficult to find good reliable staff prior to Songkran. I want to be sure I have the staff available take care of customers while I take the time to make margaritas. Thanks for the kind words Evil. Looking at the time you posted this, it explains why I had a call today asking if I were open. -
I think the nearest supermarket to the old Tops is the market in the basement of Central Festival. But Foodland might be a tiny hair closer.

Under 300 Baht ... And Good! (updated July 4, 2022)
BeerBelly replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
I went to WP last night and ordered the ham and cheese roll along with their bacon burger. Honestly, it wasn't the best thing on the menu, try the calamari and krapao pizza if you want something really nice. But I did have an odd experience last night. I went to open the ketchup bottle and it exploded when I turned the cap. Trying to figure out what happened, I checked online and found this isn't entirely uncommon. Somehow yeast gets in the bottle and starts to ferment the ketchup building up pressure. So if you see a bottle full to the top of ketchup, I'd recommend not opening it as it's not full, it's just full of gas under pressure. I don't think this is something that would be unique to WP and it won't prevent me from going back. It is just a word of caution as every place in Thailand treats their ketchup pretty much the same way. -
Under 300 Baht ... And Good! (updated July 4, 2022)
BeerBelly replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
I really enjoy eating at White Pines on Walking Street Soi 14. The cook is quite talented and the prices are very very reasonable. The place really reminds me of The Rock Kitchen in a way. It is easy to get in there and get fed for under 300 baht and walk away feeling full and satisfied after having a quality tasty meal. -

From Theprasit, go in almost to Tigglebitties. As you go along the road, you will pass Punch and Judy's on the left, then the road does an S turn and you will see the market on the right and the Tesco Express on the left. I'm about 40 m passed the Tesco Lotus Express, but on the right hand side. -

My place currently does not have Thai food as I'm trying to get the staff to focus on getting the Mexican food right. And surprisingly, very few customers are bringing in Thais. I do have a few Thai repeat customer that have come in for the Mexican food. My place is a work in progress and eventually it will have to have Thai food, but it's just not a priority as yet. Dave's Cantina is an air conditioned restaurant with indoor plumbing. No need to go outside or climb the stairs to use the facilities. I didn't even know San Miguel had a dark version. I have Chang, Singha, Heineken, Sam Miguel Light, Beer Lao, and Beer Lao Dark. The Beer Lao beers are added because I think they are delicious. -
I just opened a new Mexican Restaurant on Soi Kromteedin (Soi Land Office, Theprasit Soi 8, ...) https://www.facebook.com/DavesCantinaPattaya/ I'm still in my soft opening period and have 10% off everything on the draft menu. The current prices before the discount for the pictures items are: Quesadilla: Chicken or Pork 150 baht, Beef 170 Chips and Pico De Gallo: 120 baht Beef and bean chili: 120 baht cup, 300 baht for a bowl Enchiladas Meal: Chicken or Pork 270 baht, Beef 300 Apple Pie Chimichanga with Vanilla Ice Cream: 120 baht. Not pictured are Burritos, Mexican soft tortilla tacos, and Chicken Tortilla Soup. All Mexican Food in Pattaya is not the same. Come and taste the difference.

ShamaLama Ding Dong on Naklua Road
BeerBelly replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
I went to SLDD. The first thing I noticed was that the pictures in the menu do not match the actual food you get. They had a picture of nachos and jalapeno cheese that made me order because I don't recall a place (except maybe Hooters) that has that. But what came looked nothing like the picture. It was simply homemade pickled jalapenos (which tasted good) with standard melted cheese on the nachos. Mind you, this tasted good, but had I seen the actual picture, I would not have ordered it because I can get that in my place. The same was true with the chilicheese dog. Tasted fine, nothing like what I was expecting because of the stock photo on the menu. When I went there, the owner said something about closing by the end of this month and moving to Bangkok. It seems they have purchased, or partially purchased, a restaurant in Bangkok that has been operating for some time. They recently updated their menu with higher prices and supposed higher quality to try to attract a different clientele. I don't really know what the quality was like before, but the pictures I've seen posted look rather nice. Their new advertising doesn't include prices though. -
It was 250 baht including the shirt. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Does anyone know where I can get a picture printed on a single shirt quickly and not too expensive in Pattaya?

Thanks for the very well written review EP! I had a similar experience to you about two years ago during my first and last visit to the Sportsman. Back then I had the Fish and Chips assuming the English would do this very well. But both the fish and chips were limp, nothing crispy on my plate at all. I figure the popularity of the place must be due to the difference in taste and expectations between the American pallet and the English pallet. In other words, what might not taste great to us, might bring back great childhood memories to the English so they love it. And this works the other way around as well, of course. I've seen plenty of negative comments/reviews of something like biscuits and gravy from the English.

It's really nice how you put the spoilers right in the topic name. It allows those who were planning on watching it later to not waste 3+ hours of their life. Not to mention, I like how you put it in this forum rather than Sports Talk where it belongs. Anyone wanting to watch later would surely have avoided reading Sports Talk until after he had watched the game. I'm guessing ttk is actually pronounced dick.

The ladyboy with the trident tattoo.
BeerBelly replied to Billions's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
So without actually seeing anything, you have come to the conclusion that the Indian was robbed by a ladyboy, and at least three other people(old lady, another Thai who hopped on, and the driver) were in on it? And all this without even seeing the guy get pick-pocketed? -

Hooters on Beach Road- The Food (updated Dec. 20, 2016)
BeerBelly replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Is it normal to serve a shrimp po' boy sandwich with tail shells still on? Personally, I don't eat shells, but I know some that don't care. But honestly, I don't want to have to play with the contents of a sandwich (removing the shells) before I eat it. -
It actually says "an invalid international driving license" and it misinformation as well. When I got my one year license, I used my VALID IDL. In fact, they didn't even look at my California license, which is odd since the IDL isn't valid on it's own and must accompany a valid driver's license from your home country. These are the instructions I followed, but they are incomplete. It asks for original DL, but in fact, you need both the original AND a signed photo copy.

Yes, many of the circles were worn through. It's funny that with so many options, they seem to use the same set of circles for the test such that just a few of many circles are completely worn through.

I heard about some misinformation regarding when to renew your license(s). Specifically, for some reason people think you have to wait until after your license expires to renew it. I had motorcycle and car driving licenses that were set to expire on January 22, 2016. Having heard the above, I asked around and was told by numerous people that you can renew your license up to one month before it expires. In order to renew your license, you are required to have for EACH license: 1 copy photo page of passport 1 copy STAMP page of passport (no need for the arrival card) 1 copy front and back of the soon to be expired driving license. 1 original residency certificate from Immigration* 1 original medical certificate * - I actually brought TWO original residency certificates, and the lady made me go get a copy of one of them, then sign it. She handed the other original back to me. The process is simple. When you enter, skip the information line and head to the queue number podium and press "1" to get your queue number. When your number is displayed, head upstairs where they will hand you the application form and tell you to write your name and phone number on it. After you have done that, they will check all your documents and make sure anything that is a copy is signed by you. She will keep your passport and old licenses and hand you yet another number, colored card, and ask you to wait. At some point, your numbeSr will be called along with about 9 others and you will do your color blindness test along with your reaction test. The color blindness test is done by her pointing a small stick to a small colored circle in a field of other colors and you simply have to state what color it is. After that, the reaction test is simple, you place your foot on what looks like an accelerator, then when the lights come on, press the break pedal. From this point on, she will stamp your application(s) and ask you to sign it/them and hand them and your passport back to you. You then go stand in the queue to pay. For me, it was 960 baht for two five year licenses. Unfortunately, for me, a large group of about 25 just came out of the back room to queue up, so I had to wait a while. After you pay, you are given your final colored number and you wait for your picture to be taken. When she takes your picture, she will hand your old license(s) back to you with holes in them. After that, you wait about five minutes and they will call your name and hand you your new license(s). The license I got expires on my birthday five years from now, and since my birthday is in December, I got about 11 extra months. Also note that the Issue Date is January 23, 2016 (the day after my current license(s) expire), not today's date January 5th. I entered at 10am, had to get some copies across the street, and finished at 11:30. I think the huge group in front added about 30 minutes to my wait.
