  1. I ended up booking a Cathay flight for the middle of September from LAX. Price was $924.00 total cost. I then was able to get a roundtrip flight from Minneapolis for $268.00. Total cost comes to about $1200.00. A lot more than what I have paid on previous trips but times they are a changing. Where is PNS?
  2. I have flight on Cathay from LAX in September for $924.00 total cost. Prices may drop between now and then but with fuel going up decided to take what I could now. Flying from the midwest I found some tickets for $260.00 roundtrip to LAX so that brings my total for the trip to $1180.00. Checked with NWA and they are asking for $1700.00 roundtrip MSP-BKK.
  3. Prices out of LAX during that period are running about $950.00 with China Airlines. Domestic flight though from the Twin Cities to LA is costing close to $600.00. So I think my best bet is to take the flight direct from the Midwest to Narita and on to BKK.
  4. I am planning a trip in September or October from the USA. The lowest prices I have been finding from Chicago or MSP is about $1200.00. That is a huge increase from what I paid in February this year. What with oil prices going up everyday I am not sure if I should book now or wait in hopes that airlines will drop their prices when the off season starts. I know there are no definite answers anyone can give me but hoping to get some informed opinions on how to proceed. As a side note I can go on to Northwests website and they are quoting a price of over $1700.00 but can find the same
  5. You might want to look at getting International Travel Insurance. Do not know if you have any medical conditions but if you should become ill or get hit by a car or whatever the insurance would come in handy. Cost should be about $60.00 for the three weeks.
  6. When I was at the Sandy Springs last Feb I was told that the discount card had been discontinued. Not sure if they started again. I think the price for the card before was 400 baht. Best thing is to just send them an email.
  7. I stayed there last year in March for a few days. It is fairly new but the constuction is poor. Other than that the pool is small but looks out over the Soi. Very guest friendly, up to you if you want to leave your TG id card or not. Breakfast is included and not bad. Overall restaraunt is ok. For a 1000 baht I think it is ok. Nothing fancy but close to everything. I think similar to other Eastinny places.
  8. You should be able to get EVA for around $800.00. I booked for Jan 18 and the cost was $780.00 plus tax which came to a total of $860.00. Upgrade to Evergreen Deluxe/Elite for about $1150 and you get better seating and comfort.
  9. E Ticket or receipt is needed upon arrival in Thailand now. When I arrived two weeks ago immigration had a sign up asking for passport and your receipt or e ticket for return. I did not have that and had to go to see the supervisor to get it straigtened out. Quite a few other people in the same situation.
  10. I used Mr Toom last week. Driver with sign waiting at the airport for my midnight arrival. Then scheduled him for a return trip with a pickup at hotel at 02:30 am. My flight was a 6:00 am flight. Driver arrived on time and return cost was 1000 baht. Service has been excellent.
  11. Lap dances is a very bad idea. Just like the bars that offer table dances it causes the girls to get lazy as there is no need to go with a customer since she can make enough money by table dancing. The same would happen with the "free" lap dance. They would be expecting tips and all incentives for them to go will evenutally go away. I cannot see going into these table dance bars and give the girls tips to dance for me. Total rip IMHO>
  12. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7773634719578303561 A documentary on tourists and their Thai girlfriends
  13. For me it does not turn me on in the least. I guess I am just not a true pervert. Although Oh, and the reciever must be female.
  14. Glad to see you on this board Alan. Still plan on looking you up in Febuary to go to the Gold shop. I already posted my thoughts on the bg list in the other topic. Good luck. JOHN
  15. Welcome to the board. I have stayed there and find the place very nice. What you might want to do is look in the hotel review section and see what other members have to say about it. Also there is a search function on the board. Just type in the word Sandy Spring and you will find many posts about the hotel.
  16. All of the plugs in the hotel room I stayed in used the flat plugs. Do not remember seeing any using the round ones.
  17. Has the Whitehouse opened their pool yet?
  18. Just checked with the Sandy Springs for Feb 2007 and they quoted me a price of 2800 for a suite with Seaview and 2500 for a regular suite. Said the prices went up in August. Although I stayed there in September and paid 1990 for the suite. I like the area and I like the idea of two large rooms but 2500 is a little to much for what you get. Will have to start looking somewhere eles. Anyone have any suggestions for suite rooms (two seperate rooms)? Also do not like the idea of credit card over the net so would hope to find place that will accept reservation without deposit.
  19. I am on the same schedule with the Eva flight. Since I only have eight days on this trip I am heading straight for Pattaya. Check into my room and pick up a quickie. If I was in LOS longer I might stay in BKK for a day or two but with such little time I have to hit the ground running. Also traveling at that time of night there is not as much traffic so will be able to get to Pattaya a little quicker.
  20. Looks like a good deal. Total comes to $755.00 roundtrip. I have also found EVA has flights for about $760.00 roundtrip in economy and $950.00 total for Evergreen Deluxe. Right now I am leaning towards the extra $200 to fly Evergreen Deluxe. Will have to read up on the reviews some more about Evergreen Deluxe and decide if it is worth it. Thanks for the info.
  21. I returned from my last trip in Febuary and had accumulated over 60,000 miles on NWA. Having tried many times to use the miles without luck I searched out as far as I could and secured a flight for Feb 2007. It is a long way to try and plan for but I knew I could not get any freebies before that. Also watch as sometimes they have their cash and miles program where you can exchange so many miles and some cash for a ticket. Flying from the Twin Cities you are almost forced to go on NWA.
  22. Maybe the site was down when you tried. I just clicked on the link you provided and went right to the website.
  23. Checking on flights this summer out of the Twin Cites in the USA and finding they are almost double what they were last year. Last year could get round trip for around 32,000 to 36,000 baht. Now it looks like anywhere from 68,000 to 80,000 baht. Are they that expensive elsewhere? With prices that high the mongering trips will have to be curtailed.
  24. Sandy Springs is my hotel of choice also. I usually get a suite because I am not a huge sleeper and like to get up and roam around. This lets my TG of the day sleep in if she likes. The suites are actually just two bedrooms with one having a sofa and chairs plus tv while the other room has a bed and television. The swimming pool is nice, not large but ok to lay around in. The staff have always been very nice to me and gave service with a smile. I think a lot of that has to do with I was always very respectful to them and they in turn return the respect. Very guest friendly. If you ha
  25. I have stayed on Soi 13 the past three trips. It is a fairly quiet street without all the beer bars. Easy walk to Walking Street and other bars or walk up to 2nd Rd and take the baht bus to Soi 7/8 area. Some of the hotels there are Dynasty Inn, Sandy Springs, Lek, and Whitehouse Condotel.
