  1. There's the Welcome Inn on Soi 3 but I don't think I'd class it as a good hotel, that depends on what you're after really.
  2. toom39@msm.com
  3. Thanks, that sounds like exactly what I'm after. I'll check it out in November.
  4. So this is the new career then; freelance relief manager. It's a good idea, even if it doesn't let you stay there permanently, it will stretch out your funds and prolong your time there.
  5. Alan, Here's my 2 satang worth; If a girl doesn't want to go with ME that's OK, I'm not exactly a maidens dream, the next one will go, or the next..... But a girl who doesn't go at all shouldn't be working bar - I can go into any bar in the UK to find girls who DON'T go, I come to Pattaya to be among those who DO. If she's a waitress, serving girl, cashier or suchlike, that's fine; we all know that most of them don't go unless they want to. However if she's a bar girl or gogo dancer - and earning the money that goes with that - then she should be rentable, that's what the job is all about after all. If she doesn't like that, well then there are other jobs. My recommendation; offer her the choice of a servers uniform or the door. It could be a bit like tips under the garters, someone started it and now there's no avoiding it. We (speaking as a monger) do not want the idea that it's acceptable to work bar but not go with customers to take root. Given the speed with which ideas spread in Pattaya, we could end up with a LOT of that in a couple of years.
  6. Can I suggest giving BGs an incentive to bring you customers? Say a 10b kickback every time a farrang buys something - a bit like a Lady Drink. Their mercenary little hearts (bless them) could be your best allies.
  7. Bad timing! I used Etihad's early flight last November and February and was more than happy with it. I've booked Thai for this Novenber and Qatar for March and NOW they put the early flight back on. I'm in the Southwest as well and the overnight train works out quite well for these flights. OK, it's a slow train, but it gets you to Heathrow for 05:45 or Gatwick for 05:55, either is fine for a 09:30ish take off. The return landing in the morning is good too: the evening flight lands too late to get me home without another overnight train. It's funny, I don't mind an overnight train on the way out but I can't stand the idea of one on the way home. Ah well, next year.
  8. I have used your service on my last 2 trips with no problems, I'll email you before my next trip for a airport - Pattaya taxi.
  9. Thanks, I'll do that closer to the time (November is still a long way away I've never played Pattana, that and Century Chonburi are the only two I've still to tick off of the list.
  10. I've been playing golf while on holiday in Pattaya for a few years now, usually out of Lewinskiis. It's a good place to play out of and well organised, but one thing always gets to me. The start time. You need to be there for 09:00. Now, I like a drink, between that and and getting to bed with company in the early hours, it isn't easy to get up at 08:00 for golf. I don't need the hassle of arranging my own transport and tee times, so playing out of a bar is my best option. Here's the question; does anyone know of a bar who play later in the day. Say, leaving at 11:00 for a 12:30-13:00 tee off? I know that's starting in the heat of the day, but it would allow for sleep beforehand, and it would be getting cooler towards the end of the round. I doubt if there is such a bar, but if there is one, someone on this forum will know about it.
  11. So......... December, maybe January then.
  12. Songkran is mid April though, Easter is 21-24 March next year, so I doubt if it matters much to sindre.
  13. A well timed thread! I've just - an hour ago - booked a ticket for then. A freebie from Airmiles, taxes only (£127) to pay. Easter is 21-24 March 08, I was there mid February to mid March 07 and the town was starting to empty. There's no need to book a hotel yet - or at all really - unless you have a particular favourite in mind and want to make sure of it. Personally, as I'll be there in November, I'll shop around then.
  14. I also play with Lewinskiis and can agree with all of this except the "early night" bit - it is Pattaya after all. Callum will rent clubs, so will Lewinskiis, and so will most courses. If your friend is particular about the clubs he uses (most golfers are) and isn't bringing his own, try Callum (doghaus on this board) first, with notice he can arrange most things.
  15. Took this in the middle of the road on the corner of Soi Bukhaow and Pattaya Tai in March. :D
  16. Looked at it in March. Booked for November. I liked it for the price in that area.
  17. Isn't everywhere when you think about it.
  18. Hey, I did the report, I don't own the place. Apart from the lack of a pool I'd use it again, but no place suits everyone. I look forward to your report on wherever you choose to stay.
  19. I have GOT to take a TG in there. Their reactions must be hilarious.
  20. Re; internet. Dunno, I don't have a laptop. Sorry. As to electricity & water, water was minimal under 200Baht as I recall. As I used a LOT of aircon, I didn't argue with the total.
  21. I stayed here for my last trip, it’s on Soi Bukhaow, towards the Pattaya Klang end - as you come from Pattaya Klang down Soi Bukhaow the Soi jinks right and left. Stop, it’s right on that corner, a 7 story cream and green building on your left. It’s a condo rental rather than a hotel, so you don’t get the daily room service but you get more privacy and a cheaper price. It’s a trade off that you have to decide on for yourself. Firstly a warning; although I’d booked in person 3 months before, paid a deposit and made email contact a week before my trip, “no have loom” when I got there. I feel that it was a genuine error, not them trying it on and they did get me a loom within 15 minutes - although it was 2,000 Baht more expensive (for the month) it was larger and IMO worth the difference. They keep a ledger (yes, an actual paper ledger!) with a page for each loom and, although my deposit receipt had the loom number on it, it hadn’t been entered on the ledger - at least not on the correct page, they showed it to me. The place has swipe card security - you need it to get to the lifts, into the room, and to turn the electricity on (and it has to be that card for the electricity, not just any card). My loom had 2 single beds pushed together but that didn’t bother me, if it bothers you ask - they have various sizes, room layouts and prices, up to 2 bed suites. The toilet and shower were in the same cubicle so you could shower sitting down if you wanted but you couldn’t keep towels or paper dry in there. The furniture (including the beds) was all solid wood and everything was in almost new condition - the place had been refurbished not long before. Good aircon, small fridge, in room safe, no cooking facilities, small balcony, plenty storage. Oh, yes, price. 13,990 loom - the one I booked was 11,990. 2,700 electricity and water (paid on leaving) and that was with the aircon on all night, every night and sometimes during the day as well. 1,400 for cleaning and towel/bedding changes - the rental includes cleaning once a week but NOT clean towels or bedding, EVER. You have to pay extra for that. And I’ve forgotten something because it added up to 18,772 baht in total for 4 weeks. Acceptable I thought. There isn’t a website, email is R-con_serviceresidence@hotmail.com and phone 098324439. Would I stay there again. No, I missed having a pool. Apart from that, yes, without hesitation.
  22. Exellent!! I can just hear the conversation.
  23. The do drop. It happens on the day AFTER you buy your ticket.
  24. I've used Etihad for my last two trips and if they hadn't changed their schedules I'd be using them for my next trip as well. Good airline and Abu Dhabi is a great place to change planes - small so you don't spend your time walking and the shops take any currency - though change is in Dinar. Haven't tried business class but judging by economy it should be good.
