Club Mirage, the old Lennies/ Shooters
Big_Brian replied to Obsession's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
Maybe she closed too. Sorry, couldn't resist that one. -
I've seen mention of this but not the actual rates. Here are the details for anyone who wants them, they're cut from a pdf file, so apologies for the format. One thing to remember is that they only apply to the flight that leaves the UK, not to the final destination. So UK-Amsterdam-Bangkok in economy = £11, but UK-Singapore-Bangkok = £55. And it's supposed to be an environmental tax.

Club Mirage, the old Lennies/ Shooters
Big_Brian replied to Obsession's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I can't say that I'm surprised. As Lennies I liked it. As Shooters, it was OK. Both of these had a touch of difference. As Mirage, it was just another gogo and stuck out on it's own away from the herd. IMO Mirage's only hope was to build up a following among the expat/regular visitor community, but it didn't have anything special enough to make them pay Walking Street prices. Because of it's position the bulk of tourists, who are happy to pay those prices, would never have seen it at all. -
Callum, Count me in again, I'm even getting there a week early this year to practice (no other reason, honest ) Big Brian, handicap 25, nationality Scottish, shirt size - still huge I'm afraid.

is this the perfect way to leave this mortal coil?

At age 80 this might be a plan, at 40................. just think of all the pussy meaningful relationships he's missed out on. -
It's an Arab airline, they don't blow up their own.

What type of computer is it? I had similar on my Dell Studio laptop. The fix is to unplug/disconnect everything, remove the battery, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then put it back together.

It gets easier every year.

OK, I'll bite. Everything you own, in one box, on wheels.

Something to consider before you buy is that most websites simply aren't set up for widescreen viewing yet, so you either have blank areas at the sides or, if you stretch the image to fit the width, you don't see a lot vertically. You're used to a 19" 4x3, then that's quite a tall screen, which is great for web browsing and photos. Please remember that a 19" widescreen will not be as tall. I've just measured my 17" 4x3 monitor and my 17" widescreen laptop screens. The monitor is 10 3/4" tall, the laptop is 9". I'd estimate that to give yourself the screen height that you're used to, yo

thai license needed to ride motorcycle in patts?

A big advantage of the IDP (the UK version anyway) is that it's a cardboard folder, ideal for holding a few hundred Baht in. Hand to BiB, Look away, Get IDP back from smiling BiB. If only that worked in the UK. -

Free Beer. -
There isn't a window, just the double glass doors to the balcony, there's a good blackout curtain on them.

Here also - I thought it was just me!

Jock Bomb, You mention equal rights. My gripe in the UK right now is that I don't feel that I have them. As a middle-aged white straight male I'm back of the queue when it comes to rights. In Thailand I understand that and, while there are some things I'd like to change, it's their country and I'll have to accept their policies or not come here. I've got the same option in the UK, but why should I leave for that reason - I'm an "ethnic Brit" for gods sake, why am I the one discriminated against. I never thought that I'd say this, but if the BNP could divorce themselves from the "s

Putting on any Turkish Delight in his honour? Maybe a kebab or two? -
Emirates have £400 prices from Gatwick in Oct/Nov on their own website at the moment, with no CC charges and golf clubs allowed as extra baggage. The dates and times work for me, so I've just booked it. You can even book your seats at the same time, which I REALLY like. I was going to hold on, but I don't see this being beaten by much. OK, now 198 days to go. How WILL I stand it? Oh yeah, I nearly forgot, I fly out this Friday as well.
-
Thanks, but too soon. I'm looking at mid/late October for 4 weeks. Hopefully they'll have similar deals then.
-
Aaaaannnnnddddd....... its gone. I snoozed, I loosed. Bugger. Now seeing £471 at best for EVA (ebookers). I'm going to leave it for now and jump on the first decent flight under £450.
-
Expedia has EVA LHR-BKK-LHR at £456.70 inc taxes, out Oct, back Nov. I was going to wait and book closer to the time, but I'm very tempted - I like the airline and the dates/times are OK for me. Best case it goes down by maybe £50, worst case it goes up and I end up with a similar price on an inferior (to me) airline. On the other hand, if BA or Thai came down to that price, I'd prefer them (times are better), but who knows if they will. Opinions anyone?
-
Snap. Maybe they could re-word their email; "We have some not very exciting news about the ticket that you bought ...........".
-
Oh God yes, it'll come. How much DOES it cost for a "permanent off" these days anyway.

Rideher Cup 2009 - Date Changed
Big_Brian replied to doghaus's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
Callum, I'm planning to be there again - exchange rate permitting! That it's Loy Krathong shouldn't matter for the golf, but I wouldn't want to spent the evening indoors, there's just too much to see that evening. Please take this as a vote for moving it to the Tuesday. Keep the registration night to the Sunday though - it'll give the European team a chance to sober up before the game this year.
