  1. I'm in Cornwall. As to coaches, it would still mean an overnight trip.
  2. The times are the one thing that I DON 'T like about them. Out is fine, but the return lands too late for me to get home that night. It means an overnight train trip, which I can do without after a long flight.
  3. When you change it, it stays changed until you change it back.
  4. jacko, It has 3 levels of zoom, but the actual text size does depend on the original text size - you can only zoom larger than that, not smaller. It can be rotated too (one button press), but I haven't found that to be of use so far. joek, Thanks for the explanation. Whatever the reason, I do NOT want some "big brother" to have control over a bit of kit that I own. Or should that be "big sister" as it's Amazon?
  5. I bought the Sony PRS-505 a few weeks before my last trip and can't praise it enough. I get through 3-4 books most weeks and this holds 160 - and takes SD cards that could add 1,000's more, so that's me sorted for a while. I've yet to buy a book, the first thing I did was download a torrent with 15,000 scifi & fantasy books. That should keep me busy. Just like pirate movies on the net, there are LOADS of pirate books too - I read the latest Terry Pratchett and Dan Brown on the plane out. It's worth installing Calibre on your PC, it's a free app for formatting books, as
  6. Quietly, noisily........ Up to you. Bye.
  7. That's how I did the Gatwick-Dubai leg last Friday. The 2 seats are in a space big enough for for 2.5 seats, so there's more room beside you. You can't lean on the wall though, there's a gap. WARNING. These Emirates 777's have 16" wide seats. It was a relief to get on the 380 for the second leg, much better.
  8. A lift for us fat blokes - many of us won't even consider a hotel without one. Big, tall, soft, beds. DON'T enclose the WCs, it gets too hot in there. A settee (couch), NOT vinyl though - too sticky. Non-slippery floor tiles.
  9. It was posted here in May by the same BM http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=42730
  10. They normally won't go into the trees because they're scared of snakes - the trouser variety probably.
  11. This thread is from 2006, if he ain't been by now, he ain't coming!
  12. About your but. Only an exchange place that's run by a bank will change TC's now. Most of the little booths aren't and so can only change cash.
  13. The difference in price is more than I pay for a hotel room for a month. If money's no object do it, otherwise put up with a less comfortable 12 hours each way and spend your money in Patts.
  14. Callum, You've already got me down for the RideHer Cup. Please put me down for Misty's and Babydoll's as well. Thanks. I may be interested in the Soi Dao trip, but I'll wait for that until you post more details - if going I'll have a non-playing TG with me so I suppose I should ask her in case she doesn't want a trip away (as if ). I'm also not sure what a Cambodia trip would do to my visa (actually I'll have that non-visa 30-days-on-entry thing), I AM sure that I don't trust me anywhere near a casino! Day 3 sounds like a lot of travelling for a few hours on a beach though. I g
  15. Thanks. I'll buy in the UK then.
  16. I'm posting this here because the BMs who can answer will see it. I'm planning to buy an e-book reader and, as I'll be transiting through Dubai next month, I could get it there if the price is right. Does anyone know if Dubai duty free is cheap for electronics? Thanks
  17. http://seatexpert.com/ is similar to Seat Guru. Between them they cover most airlines.
  18. Flew with them from Heathrow this April/May. Airport - fine, everything you'd expect and gates aren't a hike away from the shops/restaurants. They will take UK notes, but only give change in Bahrain Dinar - so make sure that you buy something that costs most of your note, or pay by card of course. Planes - their new 777-300s are very nice, but one leg was on old Airbus 340, which was NOT nice. Seat pitch was just too short. No AVOD, only played things & the map wasn't working either. 4" screens too. On return they lost an item of baggage which was a first for me (though it
  19. I'm 02, 03 & 04 I was there over Christmas/New Year. The atmosphere was great, IMO easily the best time of year for that. The only reason I changed from then was the cost. EVERYTHING - UK transport, flights, hotels, barfines, girl "tips", etc, etc. goes up, and not by a little. I don't mind paying a small premium for the busy season, but it all adds up to just too much for me. I did work it out one year and, for the cost of a a 4 week trip then, I could have had 6 weeks around October or February. That was the last high season for me. If cost isn't a factor, go then, it's fun.
