Travel insurance-does anyone bother?
Shit_Happens replied to DayShift's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I certainly would not travel without insurance. Only this week one of my clients came down with a serious illness whilst visiting a mine on a little island off the coast of PNG. The emergency assistance program kicked in and the insurer picked up the cost of a charter flight to get him off the island and back to Port Moresby, $25,000, plus all other ongoing costs to return him to Australia. All up the cost will be around $35,000. But I would not rely on free covers offered with Credit Cards. I would be buying a proper policy from a specialist travel insurer. -
Posted by: Soi_6_Slider Posted on: Jan 26th, 2004, 11:21am If you don't mind my asking, how do you go about renting your condo when you are out of the country? Meaning does View Talay assist you in any way? Giving them the keys, payment, etc. I'm just curious as to the complications involved and part View Talay plays. I have a friend who lives there and takes care of it. If he left Thailand there are a couple of honest Agents who I would give it to for them to handle.

Thanks, have not heard about this in Aus yet but will look out for it.

Help Finding a Friend
Shit_Happens replied to Sunak_Songkram's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Have you thought about employing a Private Investigator. I have seen one advertised but I cannot remember the details but they should not be to hard to find. -
Further to my previous post I agee with Iaffnlav. I should clarify that my Condo cost me no more than what a family car costs here in Aus so if I cannot rent it or the economy goes belly up its no big loss. I would be very careful about spending up big on property in Thailand, especially as the current Gov is not very farang friendly. But having it for my own use is very nice.

I agree with the all the above comments, excellent place. The Viewtalay Management have a good reputation. The Villas are out of my price range but I bought a Studio in Viewtalay 2 Condos last year and I am very happy with it. Stayed there over Xmas and its now rented again. There does not seem to be a problem getting good tenants in the Viewtalay Buildings.

Its hot, dam hot. You will get a tropical storm most days but that will just cool you down. Plenty of sunshine as its the middle of summer, when its not raining. You will have a great time. ;D

hotel or condo whats the differance
Shit_Happens replied to sinbinjack's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
sinbinjack. I hope this is what your after. For a long stay I prefer a Condo. It,s more like a home and usually have a nice sitting room, cable TV, DVD, A/Con,balcony and a small kitchen and a pool. Not that you will be cooking much but it comes in handy for breakfast, especially if you have had a big night and do not want to go out to early.Get one fitted out to Western standards and you should find the shower and bathroom facilities good. The prices should be in your price range say from 12000 to 15000 a month plus Water 7 Electricity for what is a short stay. Most Condo owners look for long -
Alcohol ban in Thailand over New Year
Shit_Happens replied to wombat's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
The government says it wants to reduce accidents over the festive period. Last year 562 people were killed and about 32,000 injured, mainly on the country's roads. If they really want to reduce the road toll they should pay their Police a decent wage to take some of the incentive away for taking bribes, plus get very tough on the ones that still do. Then they might start fining and or arresting drink drivers instead of the usual 100 to 200 baht in the hand. Anyway, thats my opinion. > -
Yeah, G'Day

Recommend Residence Gardens
Shit_Happens replied to bkkbob's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I stayed there twice last April. OK I had my family with me so I was not fussed if it was not right in the middle of the action. But for friendly staff, good food and value for money I could not fault it, and the walk to the Sth end of Pattaya was only about 15 minutes, no big deal. -
Not to start a war with a fine English chap, but calling hockey "ice hockey" is like me calling the game "soccer" rather than its proper name of football. Sammy, I know this has nothing to do with the temperature in the FLB Bar. But please do not insult the name of football by associating it with soccer. Soccer is soccer and football is what is played in Australia and at which the Poms sometimes fluke a win.

first timer where to go in thailand
Shit_Happens replied to accyboy's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
G'Day accyboy. I agree with Crackpot. You have to spend some time in BKK, its is a very exciting City, whether you love it or hate it you gotta experience it. Pack light, because whatever you need you can buy it in BKK at a good price, just bargain. Check out the Tours available, and depending on your time frame and budget the options are endless. Have a great time. :) -
Me thinks I better take my medication, I don't believe I've read all this. You don't see many guys with metal detectors in Australia. When you do they are mainly all Poms with silver foil wrapped around their heads to stop the radio waves. Anyway the oldest thing you will find here is maybe a convict chain a couple of hundred years old. Maybe the Poms are just looking for signs of long lost relatives. As for LOS, fucked if I know ??? ??? ??? :-/

H. They sound a bit expensive but it depends on where they are, views etc and depends on what you want. I have a large Studio that I rent for 10,000 baht a month plus water & electricity. I have sent you a PM with some details.

The Residence Garden has two nice pools, just act like you belong and you should not have a problem. Only problem its a bit out of the way and can be a bit quite for some tastes.

Try using a traditional thai toilet and will not worry about this again. Or pick up one of those padded childrens seats that go on the toilet. My 2 year has great success with one and it will give you some more height. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
