Hi Doug I'm just down the road from you at "The Meetig Place" in Nongkhai. Drop by when you have settled in and I will help in any way I can. Look forward to seeing you soon. Regards PSP
  4. Hub Could I ask you to PM me the details of that offer if it is not too much trouble? Many Thanks PSP
  5. Hi Yousee The RC has it's own Limosuine Service so no problem there and Baht Buses will take you up there if you negotiate a little bit over the normal fare. Regards PSP
  6. Have to agree with Hub, the Royal Cliff Beach Resort is by far your best bet. The Resort consists of 4 different properties in one, as you will see from their website. The Royal Wing is particuarly exclusive but with a price tag to match. The Royal Cliff Terrace is a good value alternative. Not sure if you are booking as a package deal? If not, you will find the best rates for the RC on: www.asiarooms.com. Regards PSP
  7. Hi Julio Not sure when you were here last but I am afraid The Danish Baker has very much gone downhill in terms of quality and service since the Husband and Wife Owners parted company last December. A look at the Guestbook on the website you mention confirms this. Not sure which hotel you are referring to as the site lists a number of them? If you mean then The Grand then I would agree that this is a good hotel, as confirmed by Hilly and Barrie in their respective Trip Reports. Regards PSP
  8. Hi MILLWALL FC I own The Meeting Place in Nongkhai. For some photos and details of the place look up Hilly's Trip Report on his and AM's visit to Nongkhai: http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15489 and, more recently, Barrief's Trip Report on his visit to Nongkhai: http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16268 Rooms are available from 200-350 Baht per night. If you require any further details about The Meeting Place or Nongkhai in general, please drop me a PM or an email. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards Paul (PSP)
  9. Tragic news indeed. Om was a unique member of the FLB Team who will be sorely missed by many Customers old and new. My thoughts and prayers go out out to her family, friends and colleauges at FLB. PSP
  10. Hi Map To answer honestly, I have never accompanied anybody wheelchair-bound to Pattaya or anywhere else in Thailand for that matter. Notwithstanding, my Mother has been confined to a wheelchair for many years as an MS Sufferer. Myself, my Father and my Wife have accompanied her on many trips to a number of countries including Europe, the Carribean and the US (which I have to say was by far the best equipped). Without fail, on every trip we encountered many unforseen and sometimes stressful problems. It would be true to say that I have never looked at Pattaya through the eyes of somebody that is physically handicapped or those tasked with fulfilling the role of Carer but given my experience in other countries, I am bound to say that Thailand is way behind those that I have visited. However, I do not wish to sound negative. Much will depend on the determination and stamina of your friend. As Shane suggests, hotel accommodation should be relatively easy to solve. Further, he will receive a warm welcome from the people that he meets. It may be worth dropping a line to the Thailand Tourist People to see what help/advice they may be in a position to offer. In addition, it is worth looking at package holiday company brochures to see what they say as they usually give a fair and accurate indication with regards to suitability of particular resorts for those that are physically handicapped. I sincerely wish you the best of luck. Regards PSP
  11. Hi Fonz It would be great to see you in September. With Pete's permission, I will post details of the new "Meeting Place" website when I have it up and running. In the meantime, don't worry too much if the GF is not up for a trip to the sticks. I'm sure I can find you a suitable substitute for a few days Regards PSP
  12. Hi Fonz Information as provided above by bigDUSA. Regards PSP
  13. Hi Ste The Charoensri Hotel is widely recognised as being the best hotel available in Udon Thani (although it is far from the cheapest!). It is located in the heart of the City, right amongst the nightlife. Just cross the road and you will find a rapidly expanding complex of bars etc. If you make it to Nongkhai, get a Tuk Tuk to take you to "The Meeting Place" and I'll buy you a beer. Same offer applies to any other FLB Member that find themselves up this way. Regards PSP
  14. If anybody is interested in staying at Mr Mac's hotel, right next door to the Residence Garden, over Christmas and/or the New Year then let me know. I can get rooms there for 800 baht a night over the Festive Period instead of the usual 1,000 baht a night charged at that time of year and no compulsory parties/dinners etc. Regards PSP :)
  15. Thanks for your help once again Pete. Regards Paul :)
  16. Hi Pete Any idea how much a decent satelite TV outfit is likely to cost me? Regards Paul :)
  17. The Residence Garden has a multi-gym which is rarely, if ever used. I have no idea what condition it is in. The RG is about 15-20 minute walk from FLBs but about 10 minutes on a baht bus which pass right outside the door of the property. Regards PSP :)
  18. Pete, it looks great. Specifically, the answer to the 3 questions you posed is "Yes" PSP:)
  19. What Duece was too modest to mention was that a) he introduced me to the site I posted and he has been a positive and informative source in my poor attempts to come anywhere near close to learning this complex and difficult language. One thing you need to ask yourself, however, is why do you want to learn the language and if you are successful, what use will you put it to? If one's only purpose in learning the language is to be in a position to be more effective in chatting to the girls than I suggest that this can be achieved relatively quickly. If, however, you wish to master it with a view to living in Thailand permanently then that is a very different story. Those of you that are really interested in this topic should talk to Peter at FLB. He will tell you how much study and effort he has put into this subject and how difficult it can be if you wish to progress beyond the most basic understanding. PSP:)
  20. Hi Doug There are thousands of books, tapes, CD ROMs etc, which all claim to be able to teach you the complex language of Thai in no time at all. In my limited experience, there is no substitute for actually being in the country, listening to girls talking and gradually to start to become familar with some of the more common words that are spoken. That said, there are a number of websites that are quite useful. The following one is probably a good starting point but I am sure others will have some recommendations: http://www.thailandlife.com/language/ Good Luck PSP:)
  21. You're welcome, have fun PSP :)
  22. Once you have logged in to the Board the Members part of it "magically appears" above the open to all forum so there is no need to navigate to anywhere else. Hope this helps. PSP:)
  23. Just to add to what Gazzo has said, if you wish to return to the Airport via Thai Limo then book a return trip for 2,700 Baht. Yes there are other firms offering trips to the Airport for much less but as Gazzo and others have already stated, Thai Limo is an excellent way to travel and very reliable when it comes to collecting you for your return journey. PSP:)
  24. Take your pick!!!!! PSP:)
  25. Baht Buses run right outside the entrance to the Residence Garden. I would be surprised if you had to wait more than a minute for one. PSP:)
