  1. Use the red light crossing at your own peril. Some cars will stop, many will not. There are many bars behind the Rompho market. Some are dead and most others are dying. There are quite a few nice girls, but they must be hungry, as there are hardly any customers.
  2. I forgot to mention they are closed on Mondays.
  3. I took those pictures between 7 and 8 AM, when the traffic was still light on Second Jomtien Road. My skills as a photographer are not as good as some of the experts on this board. I am still using 10 year old Canon Power Shot A720 IS 8.0 Megapixel digital camera.
  4. Thanks for asking. The TGF (missus) is always fit and healthy. I gained 4 kilos in Darwin from all the beer I drank and all of the good food available there. The extra 4 kilos will soon disappear, as I am back in training and watching my diet. The missus eats more than I do, but never puts on any weight. I think she will be all right when I pick her up next Saturday. If there is a scar in her face after the stitches will be removed we will be able to handle that. There is a tough kid behind that smiling face. She proved that when she displayed her Muay Tai skills in the Karate school near
  5. Actually, it is called Back Fabrik (baking factory) and is a really nice air conditioned place. The don't have a full menu, but everything else one would want for breakfast, omelets, a variety of excellent bread rolls and lots of other food. They have Thai dishes as well and very good coffee at the price of a beer in your bar, about THB 110-120. The young German baker is a friendly guy and an excellent host. He is in the back of the building in his Fabrik in the morning baking bread, but often sits outside his restaurant in the front watching the crazy traffic and the world go by in the af
  6. I walked down Second Jomtien Road to the Rhompo market this evening to have a meal. I was getting sick and tired staying by myself in the condo, doing my own cooking, as it was too wet due to the unseasonal heavy rain to venture outside. The missus went to Bangkok last week for 2 days to visit some of her family. Unfortunately, she had and accident when trying to board a bus and is still in Bangkok getting medical treatment. I will pick her up next Saturday at her sister's place after she gets the stitches removed from her face. I like a bit solitude now and then, but don,t like staying by mys
  7. It will be 25 year next Sunday the 9th of November since East and West Germany were reunified.Klaus Meine, the lead singer of the Scorpions, wrote this song shortly after that event.
  8. Midori Seiler playing on her 17th century violin.

  10. Felix Klieser was born without arms. That didn't stop him from becoming one of the best Horn players. He is one amazing guy.
  11. It's good to hear that you pursued a scientific career. which allowed you to find good jobs in the oil industry. It's good to know that you know the difference between Austria and Australia, two countries close to my heart. Like I mentioned before, I went to school in Vienna, where amongst other boring things, they taught me all about Serbia and Siberia. Most Russians here would come from the European part of Russia, like Moscow and St. Petersburg. Siberia starts East of the Ural Mountains in North Asia and is sparsely populated. Maybe you and I should catch the Trans Siberian train one day a
  12. Geography wasn't one of your preferred subjects when you went to school?
  13. I probably had more knocks to the head other than Joe Frasier and Cassius Clay. This time the damage was done by having a few to many during the Oktoberfest celebrations, which started early in September in Darwin. Now if only someone could help me to find the my Control button to lay the PW issue to rest. It seems to be missing on my site, or I need a new pair of glasses. Now
  14. Thanks for your ready help and patience. :thumbup One more silly question from me. I guess the 14 character PW is a temporary one and can be changed to something else I should be able to remember with my atrophied brain? Cheers

    Lucky Germans

Dear nameless one, Dortmund and Munich won again in the Champions League. Sheer luck, of course. Give me another red one should you desire to do so. I would prefer a reply from you, to comment to my post written in jest, Oh, I forgot, Germans don't seem to have a sense of humour.
  16. "Killing me softly" was a magic song for me as well. it still is.
  17. In my opinion, you would be the last person in this universe to make a comment about condoms.
  18. I never thought Dortmund would beat Arsenal 2:0 and Bayern would beat Man C 1: 0. Nevertheless, I enjoyed watching the games on telly in Darwin NT. I have been an Aussie for 50 years, but i remember a poster saying: Once a German, always a German. I will agree to some extent, but only when it comes to playing football. The first two games don't mean that much. There are a lot more games to be played in this competition and we don't want to see another boring Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich final.

    World Cup

Cheshire Tom knows more about Soccer than most of us. Sammy Khedira did not play in the final against Argentina. German born Boateng of part African descent did play for Germany and is a German as far as I am concerned. He was born in Germany. The rest of the team playing in the final were German-born Germans of German descent. Go back to making comments about the EPL.
  20. Good picture report by Patna as usual. The leftovers at the Expats Club are not exactly my favourite breakfast. I might take the TGF to the seafood buffet when we return to Thailand in October from Oz. A similar buffet over here would cost at least three times as much.
