  1. The tongue is the best to me! Plenty of them around but I think some use a knife to cut the corn striaght out and into a cup with a spoon. One springs to mind is on Beach road just before the Sewage Station together with the BBQ sticks guys/gals.
  2. If possible , avoid the fruit stalls at the Mike Shopping Mall. Mostly overpriced tourist stuff
  3. Joe - I dont think roast pig is served like you said. I think you're thinking about Peking Duck. Mikko - for the whole pig and the crispy skin , best to look for the ballons or if you can wait or afford one , go to a bar and ask them to get a pig the next nite just for yourself and the staff. I've seen a guy on a bicycle selling chunks of pork and will re-bbq whatever you buy. The skin can get a little tougher but its the closing thing I've seen to what you asked. Not expensive - 200B for a meal and a half! I had the above only 3 times in Pattaya. Once was a new years day many moons ag
  4. There is one on the Beach Road enterance of Pattayaland 2 (or is it 1) ; always pass by it very late at night. There is also one in the Central Basement food court. The supermarkets in Central and Big C also sell them. There is a variation of it ; using the same sticky lice and dulains but the dulains are not the sweet or bitter/sweet (pungent to a falang!) type of malaysia so its not that great to me!
  5. Great pics , thanks. I see Oishi is opening up a brance in the Avenue. FYI , for those interested , the Oishi at Big C has an additional few dishes that the Central does not have.
  6. Thanks again Joe. Airport shouldnt be a problem as the skytrains are still operational. Ekamai is a little more hassle but the trains thru Makkaasan are nowadays so packed , I dont mind taking the Ekamai bus. Also something about the Ekamai Bus Station I like , maybe its the laid back atmosphere , the half hourly schedule or the fact that my first ever trip was thru this method. Any more updates on the bangkok floods? My friend in Sukhumvit now reports it as completely dry.
  7. thanks Joe, I'll go to the airport and catch the Bell bus then.
  8. There were reports that Suk 50 were flodded for a while. No news since then and I am wondering if the Pattaya-Ekamai bus is taking normal , faster (due to less Bangkok traffic) or slower (due to the water)?
  9. Thanks V. Besides the potential chest high water , its now worrying about hotel bookings , transportation as well as food and water shortages. But I will most probably still be there in 9 days unless the Airport is not operational.
  10. Yup thanks for the live info. I am scheduled in Bangkok in 10days!
  11. 555555 anything more than 5 sentences are too much for my blains!
  12. Get the cheap (bad!) knockoff and see the look on his face when he first sees it. If is a sad boy , tell him you ordered online and the original is on the way. The good ones are so good , even the manufactors cant tel the difference! Someone told me a story of a guy who wore a new jersey for a new season into a official club shop and was haulled into the security office coz the jersey wasnt even officially released yet!
  13. The good stuff are not available easily anymore. Just to be able to just walk into any nite market or tourist area and you can pick up a copy that looks like the real thing , right down to the 'original manufacturer' logos. A crackdown a few world cups ago stopped all these but they are still available if you know the right people. Dont ask me , I dont know enough people in Thailand!
  14. I think pricing as well as the hole-in-the-wall resturants and street carts has a lot to do with it too. Its so cheap and convinient , you can afford to try 10 different dishes a day and still be on budget. Cant to that in more expensive countries. FYI , my fav 'must eat every trip' fod would be the Sea Bass ; steamed or deep fried. Under 300B for the whole fish intact. just add a steamed rice and its a whole meal.
  15. well ....... you kept to yourself that long enough!
  16. nope your first statement was correct. Even for Malaysia. 24% are chinese and 7% are indians so not all Malaysians are malays
  17. Why do you guys insist to paint everyone with the same brush? Same same as chrstians , buddhist and other religions , there are devout ones , carefree ones , extreme ones. There are so many muslims in so many countries , I am sure the one YOU came across and 'speak from personal experiences' are not a true representation of all muslims. Do you see other people throwing christians views on someone coz he's falang? Falang = christians has to be 100% right? If you can think your way , you must be allowed to be ramnmed down your throat with 'your religion' as well. Just an example , Indone
  18. I rather face an inquiry alive than dead............... geezzzzz
  19. yup , best intro to pattaya's nitelife is to get to the crawls. Depending on which wednesday you are there , your life will take a different turn if you went to a different crawl!
  20. Have you been? Its not fair if you've not been to the place. Are you a Songkran lover or hater?
