I used to have a job where i was on 12hr duty overnight. Didnt have to be alert ; just awake to alert others in case anything crops up. Best job I ever had with booze , a good book/pc game and pnk floyd in the cd player. You know its about 30mins when you finish 2 songs!

the reason Bell doesnt run on the 19th is because some roads are closed NOT because of the maddness. The entire Beach road will be closed so it will be a nightmare for drivers! I agree with the rest , a few days is fun but 10 days is too long. FYI , this is my 7th straight Songkran!

Just thought of another ..... not exactly gone but different since some renovation to the place Mr Krit in front of Big C BEFORE the construction made the bar moved farther inwards. It used to be a must-stop every songkran coz that corner just seem to attract a lot of traffic.

you've not been on Pattaya recently have you JK? Walking street may see some crowds but if you make LK Metro , Soi Diana and Soi 6,7,8 your hunting grounds , you'll be spoiled for choice and have ample elbow space.

Like MacDonalds , its a place you go to for better service with average food. It can be great if you get your girl or any local thai to cook for you. The trick is the timing and the meats you put in to turn the stock/broth into great soup. Try this - beat an ege in a bowl and slowly pour it into the soup while stiring it. Without all the added stuff to add to the taste , you're only drinking hot water! For better soup/steamboat , ask the girls to bring you to Ninja's moo ka ta or Jim Joum. I've seen Jim Joum just behind the dive shop between Soi10 and 11 but it was short lived.

Including me and the girl that was sitting with me , it would make it a six-some. The americians were generally well bahaved and you see they were just SO SO happy to be there. 555555

I generally avoid the chain ; all their hotels suck for one reason or another. The only people I see staying there are usually first timers attracted by their website

I was in Bacara wednesday nite and in walks in three young falangs with a thai guy. They have seperate bills and nothing for the thai. I later found out from the girls that they came from Sattahip and the thai was a taxi driver. The falangs were americians and here for Cobra Gold. So maybe the advance parties have already arrived.

There was a sports sale and I bought an England jersey , old design but new shirt (never been worn ; less than 250B) and made the mistake of giving it as a gift to a scottish friend! Lucky I didnt get my ass kicked! 5555555

Thats one thing good about Apex's buffet. There's so many cheap chariles that the buffet table is never empty. In fact I've seen more refills than flies.

55 sorry , I thought you were talking about the food itself. I guess its up to the owner what they want to name it. They can even call it 'Not A Food Place' Resturant if they think its gonna pull in people. There's even a famous seafood resturant in Singapore called 'No Signboard' Resturant. If you ever make it there , try the white pepper crab! http://www.nosignboardseafood.com/ Apex's not the best but cant be beat for variety , even the thai/chinese fare is pretty good with its clear soup , susages , chilli paste , thai curry etc. Different everyday. But the last time , they were missing the pancakes so I dont know if its a one off thing or its no longer on the menu. The coffee's improved and I need my coffee even if its not civet poop coffee! -
Walking Street Bar.....WTF
mmaaarrrkkk replied to danboy's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Cover charge could be a after 10/11/12pm thing? I've never been in but always see a lot of russians walking in. If there are FLs , then it could be worth a visit. -

Obviously you've not eaten at either places. Its 150-300B for all you can eat ; including fresh seafood. -

Its not as close as you think. Go down North Pattaya road till you reach 3rd road. Turn into 3rd Road about 2km and it'll be on your left with a giant neon sign. I tried asking the baht bus driver Ninja Moo Ka Ta Sai Sam and was lucky he knew the place. Cost 150Baht for the ride but only 2 of us so I thought it was expensive -
Nice pictures , thanks. Where was this Thai Disco?

I tired both the Fish and Ninja and Ninja wins hands down. -
Thanks OP for posting the experience. It is interesting........ i always prefer and use the in-room safes so will be wary now onwards. I dont trust the hotel recep standing in front of my valuales for so many hours just a few steps away from the keys. I know it takes two keys to open but if an in room safe can be broken into , so can the reception safes. BTW Apex hotel still has the old mechanical safes in their rooms! I guess the best bet is to minimise your losses IF it does happen. Maybe its a good idea to bring half your holiday money in cash and the other half in limited credit/debit card or use atm cards. The bank charges are negliable compared to the inconvenience (if anything happens) and can be viewed as some sort of insurance policy. Hope everything works out fine and Merry Chirstmas to everyone especially the OP ; despite what's happen.

How did you first discover Thailand?
mmaaarrrkkk replied to captcraig2's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I live 2hrs+ flight away but my first thai trip was a 24hr bus ride into Hadyai many many years ago - early 80's? First mongering trip was phuket late 80s when a few friends decided to go after signing off our merchant vessel about the same time. We tried to call another friend but his family picked up the phone (these were days just before the mobile phones appeared) and said he went to Bangkok. My first thought was 'what the fuck is he doing there!'. Years later , a thai girl I met in Phuket met me in Bangkok and show me Nana Plaza and I said to myself - 'Now I know what the fucker was doing here!' hahahaa Later , I brought a few friends to Nana plaza - one was a '40 year old virgin' and the other just needed to see the rest of the world! My first words to them at the enternce of Nana Plaza was 'welcome to my playground!' After a few years , I keep hearing about the seaside town of Pattaya and back the they had these dance contest between Bangkok and Pattaya. I made it a point to see one and this particular one was in Carousel. Met the mamasan and still friends with her till this day. Have been on regular trips , at least twice a years since then. -
Interesting .......... you can see chinese characters on the blue signboard! Think its some type of bank
-
Scotty seems to have I WANT WANT WANT attitude but wont share his prices. I've never stayed there so I have no clue what prices you are talking about. My prefered area is Soi Diana/2nd road as its in the centre of everything. I normally pay 700-900B. BTW , I've yet to find my perfect hotel combination with free strong wifi , nice pool , in-room safe , lift/elevator.

Last I heard , the telcos are fighting it out in the courts! TIT
