I've just stuck a request in for him, good feedback and I admire the fact that he sought out the boards for a bit of business

There are loads of Travel agents over there, walk along 2nd road and the sois there are 3 or 4 on soi 8 alone, the travel agents have stickers on the windows of which airlines they have dealings with, so it shouldn't take too long to locate one

Is Pattaya a really big place to walk around?
Feileacan replied to Carragher's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Soi 7 ot 8 is a good location to base yourself. from here you can get to SOI 6 and soapies by going to top of the soi and getting a Baht bus for 10 baht. You can go to the bottom of the soi and get a baht bus to walking street for 10 bht. It is also very easy to get back to soi 7/8 from these areas. It's not a long walk to get anywhere in Pattaya (except the outlying areas where you probably won't go anyway) but the heat saps the energy from you, also you will not want to start you're evening out dripping with sweat. Use the baht busses to get an initial perspective on the place and then duri -

3 grand for 6 months !!! That 500 a month or 125 a week. On your first trip, you'll never live on this, unless you don't drink and BF girls sparingly. If you do drink you will go through 6 K in the first 2 months as you will lose the run of yourself. It takes a few trips to get your head around Pattaya to the extent where you can budget properly, even then it's difficult. Really you need to give more info 1. Drink Habits 2. Girl Habits 3. Internal trips & sightseeing The first two can eat into your money easily, especially for a newbie

I've gone in the last 3 years in Dec and prices have not come down especially with a direct flight, they will more than likely fill up fairly quickly and you will end up paying similar or more for a flight with a stop along the way, I'll be booking my xmas flight in May after I return from my April trip. I'll just need to finalise dates first

Most people who claim they have been drugged and robbed have actually been robbed when they were twisted drunk and no drugs have been involved. These people often take freelancers, have no I.D validation at front desk. Have a wallet full of cash on them or Gold. They are out cold in the room. Easy pickings for a thief or even for a girl who wouldn't normally steal.

On the last 3 occasions I've been there, they have been booked out with a FULL sign up. It's a very popular hotel and if you're considering staying there, you may need to book in advance.

Only two hours, excellent, from sites I had been reading it looked longer, I was thinking it might be a 5 or 6 hr trip by car from Phuket, Think I will fly Utapoa to Phuket and then get a car down. If there are spectacular views en route, then this will only add to the journey and make it more enjoyable. Thanks guys

Cheers thanks How long does the fast boat take, I believe the slow boat goes via Phi Phi. Or how long would a hired speed boat take. I was thinking of Ao Nang ok, it looks nice on sites I've seen, so you have basically confirmed this for me. The quieter nightlife will be ideal, as it's a chance to recover from Pattaya and recharge the batteries before I return there again for more hardship

Get your driver to stop along the way and pick up some grub

Hi Guys I'm going to Pattaya in April and am thinking of having a break in Krabi for a few days during my stay. I can fly Bangkok to Krabi return for approx 2,300 bht (very good price) with Air Asia. However I'd much prefer to fly from Utapoa to Phuket and then fly onto Krabi from there. The first part is no problem with Bangkok Air, however I can't find a flight from Phuket to Krabi. Searches have returned an Airline called Air Andaman. On trying to open their site, I get a "Page cannot be displayed". Can anyone advise if this airline is still in operation or has changed name. Or alte

1,200 baht for taxi from bangkok to pattaya?
Feileacan replied to toom's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Hi i have no connection with Mr Toom, but wish him well in the future in his business venture, i admire anyone that is willing to take the chance and go out on his own. I have cleaned his last post up a bit to make it more legible, especially for non native English speaking members Hello everyone My Name is Mr Toom. My writing skills in English isn't great, but I speak English fairly well. I was a driver for Thai Limousine for 5 years and started my own business 2 years ago. I drive a Toyota Corolla, this is a private car and has never been used as a Taxi Meter. I'm looking for customers -
Best way to get to Walking street is to go to Soi Buckaow (spelling) and get a Baht Bus that goes right (as you come from Areca side) this goes to the Traffic lights at the corner of Beach Road and Second road. It saves you going to 2nd road, going up to the top on a Baht Bus and the whole way back down beach road to reach Walking street

Scratch KLM off your list, My Mate stayed a bit longer on holidays in January and had to book a new flight as BA/Qantas were sold out. He booked with KLM. There were no blankets or Pillows provided. When he woke in the middle of the night, he asked the stewardess for one as he was freezing and was told NO, they don't provide them.

Where to live for 6 months pattaya or Jomtien
Feileacan replied to fzbkk's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
It's an excellkent hotel, but always seems to be full, nice place, nice staff and swimming pool also, security boxes are at reception. Only problem I had, is that there is no hot water tap in the sink, cold only, a nuaisance when shaving and the shower is low down, at about 5 foot height. But that is a small inconvenience for an otherwise excellent hotel -
Snorkeling on Ko Samet and Ko Lahrn
Feileacan replied to av8r's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I snorkled on Koh Samet. I went out on a boat trip around the coast at about 11.00, it starts off with a bit of fishing with handlines, it then moves onto a bay, where you can snorkel for an hour or more, when you return to the boat, the fish that was caught have been cooked and you eat with fried rice, water and beer provided also, then it's back to the harbour again, before dark. It's very cheap and would be ideal for a family day out. -
Don't forget the saying. "You can't rest on your Laurels"

Myself and my friends booked in there two years ago and all I can say is that it is a filthy Kip, with the carpet sticking and squelching underfoot, unless it has had a major overhaul in the last two years, then give it a miss, cos it can only have went downhill, we stayed two nights and left. Even a BG that came with a mate of mine from BKK gave it the thumbs down when she seen brown towels, She said "Very Bad, when towels are too dirty to wash, they dye them brown" Only bonus is the location,

siam sawadee how is it?
Feileacan replied to justin case's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Book a hotel for a few nights and then go visit hotels there. Staff will have no problem showing you around the rooms in the hotels. Don't tie yourself into a 2 month stay anywhere, before you have seen it, as for the RG and noise??? I've seen some posts complaining about the traffic from the street, but personally I don't think it's bad, never even notice it to be honest and for a 2 month stay, you will need a comfortable place like the RG with seperate bedroomsa and cooking facilities. I stayed in Siam Sawadee about 2 years ago, cheap but basic, it's ok for a short stay where you spend lit -
I have stayed in Chaweng Villa resort, the Deluxe Rooms are very nice, the Garden view, so so and the Wooden bungalows, I wouldn't touch. It's on a fantastic beach and is also in the centre of Chaweng, great location. But trying to get accomodation in January will be very difficult and maybe fairly pricey http://www.koh-samui-hotels.net/ http://www.kohsamui.org

I'm flying out tomorrow I stay the first week in Sunshine hotel on soi 8, but then have the last two weeks in samet or samui. Come on clock, hurry up, hurry up

Firstly I search sites to find out which hotel I want to stay at. Then I check this hotel against a range of sites and also with the hotels own site if one exists ( I then go with the best price) I don't know what the situation is with Areca, previous poster is sure that direct is best

http://www.wired-destinations.com/hotels/ptycen.htm I'd advise you to get a hotel before you go, I managed to get one 2 weeks ago after a lot of searching. I would have went without one and booked something over there, but I know the place fairly well. For a Newbie, Pattaya will look huge and you won't know where to start and asking a Taxi driver from Bangkok to find you a hotel, will result with him driving around in circles for ages, he will not want to tell you that he doesn't know Pattaya. To get out of your Taxi and get a Bht bus to take you to one, he will probably overcharge you
