sounds like you're in the old Marilyn's beer bar complex best of luck I will let my good friend Big Chief know about it and post his report if he goes -
in the military the mess decks (food service area) are where the bodies are collected in the event of casualties it's a sign of respect to take off your hat when entering an area or establishment that serves food or drink.

Utapo (pattaya airport) to Pattaya
LocalYokul replied to ThaiLearner's topic in Meeting - Cost sharing
good luck finding a taxi to take you from Utapao to Pattaya, I've heard reports that you have to walk out to Suk. Road to get a Song Taaw (the trucks with the two long seats in the back) one of the guys I'm working with helped build that airport when he worked for Neilson's Construction which is now Chrisiani Neilson Thailand or CNT -
why do you NEED a hat ? just get used to the heat and forget about it and please oh please don't wear your hat inside the restaurant/bar, it's a disrespect to all of us Veterans

I'm still around after 13+ years but it's getting more and more difficult to get Work Permits and even find decent paying jobs in LOS Work Permits are usually just trivial, but lately the salaries being offered are borderline pathetic for local hire expats. I got lucky with my current job and it's got a defined end date so it's time to start looking over the horizon for the next stint anyone have any info about jobs in Oil & Gas abroad ? I was applying myself over and over on KBRJobs.com but to no avail and to some other contractors working in Qatar and other wealthy M-E countries but still not more than just intermediate interviews by telephone. Vietnam is a bright horizon I hear, but I've got next to no info. tips, suggestions or contact info is gladly appreciated either by PM or right here on this thread. I prefer not to work in LOS, but rumor has it that being resident in LOS is a bad mark for the headhunters, i.e. they think ALL LOS expats are piss-heads and fanny-rats -

I like the entertainment provided by the Darwin Award candidates that I see often just this morning I was having Joke (rice porridge) at a shop in the local market I didn't notice before I ordered and sat down or I wouldn't have stayed, but there was a really drunken older Thai man in at the corner in front of the shop he still had a bottle of Lao Kao (rice whiskey) with him and was sipping from it and shouting nonsense at random intervals once he saw me I figured he would try to come over and introduce himself, but he just stared and asked the others if they'd talk to me for him thank heaven no one in the shop told him I could understand every word he was saying and that he could speak to me just fine on his own at first he used the word Falahng, but then consistently called me MUN - IT he was near to drooling on himself and when his food came he seemed to be playing with it more than eating it, and kept directing his stare at me I always try to avoid eye contact with these types, as it seems to be their cue to come talk to you about World Peace after you lock eyes he kept asking the cook to ask me where I was from in English She just looked at me and I gave her that "don't you even fuckin' dare" look, and she continued to ignore him as I was doing He probably just got paid recently and blew a ton of his paycheck on women and whiskey I was surprised when he didn't go into a rage when the cook told him he was being "rumkahn" - annoying Usually you get the violent outburst at that point where they tell you they have the right to be there ordering food and getting service just like everyone else, right before they go outside to puke in the street

I love living here because everyone wants to help you out when you are about to purchase or rent something they'll even take you to their friend's car dealership or take you to their cousin's apartment complex to sample the goods is that just good human courtesy or what ?

here's a news flash for you, it's rainy season in LOS now. I got soaked to the bone just yesterday, and I think it will still be rainy in September at least it's not cold AND rainy, just rainy

I can explain the wall and the column of the entry-way are two different objects, but made of the same material this is a stanchion to support the weight, and behind it is the actual wall thanks ok, so it's not an entryway, but this is common in Thai construction there will be a beam/stanchion that sticks out to support the overhead load in Falahng-land we tend to build using BIG breeze blocks, so the stanchion would be the same size as the blocks, but not in LOS they try to squeeze every available inch out of the area
