Season 2 gets right back into it. BTW, season 3 starts next week IIRC. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

My last transfer was rather large, and I received a call from the bank asking me what I meant to use the funds for. I told them it was for living expenses. She then asked me if I wanted to convert from USD to THB at that time or later. That's the first time it hasn't been done automatically. Since the USD was tanking, I told her to convert at that time. Naturally, the USD hit bottom on that day and rose, but oh well.

Yes, that's exactly how it works. It's just like transferring or depositing funds to a USA bank (except it takes a few days longer).

Are the fines only applicable to the domicile owner/manager, but not the tenant?

You understand Italian? I definitely require subtitles for foreign language films, like Peaky Blinders

I gotta agree wholeheartedly with you in the comments about S08E02. I couldn't tell who was fighting whom, what the plan was, it was utter mishmash. When you compare the battle scenes in GOT with this abortive attempt at action and battle staging, you have to shake your head. I don't know where they are going with this or what the plan is...there's no real suspense, only confusion that would take more effort to resolve than I have patience for. I'll continue to download it, and might watch it later, but it's not something I look forward to weekly anymore.

Landlord gets this paper after turning in TM30, which should be provided to tenant. It's even called a "receipt". The title is a question, hardly misleading. BTW, the answer appears to be that it is not being enforced at Jomtien consistently or I would not have received my visa extension without the "receipt". Lots of stories about people being denied extensions because landlord did not submit a TM30 on Thai Visa. Of course, they are probably all dreaming it up too.

When you unzip the package you downloaded, there will be a main directory and then 2 season directories underneath. In each season directory there are groups of files with the name containing "SssEee" where "ss" is the season number and "ee" is the episode number within the season. In those groups of files for any episode, you only need the video file which usually ends with .mkv and perhaps the subtitle file which ends with .srt. just copy those two files to your pad to capture a specific episode. If the video file has embedded subtitles, and you copy the .srt file to the same directory, yo

It is, but my landlord has not submitted one, and if enforced, I'd have to contact him in Russia to take care of it. That's not something I care to do unnecessarily. Also, if you read the first sentence of the OP, your query would have been answered.

Here's my result today. After getting my bank info, filling out the TM7, I went to SOI 5 about 9:30. I also brought along a couple of utility bills with my address. I stopped off at the Visa office next door and had them do the copying of the correct passport pages, Bank book pages, one utility bill and the photo was taken. They stapled it all together and without asking how much I just gave Ruby 500 baht because she's the sister of several of the band members and she always helps me with my immigration issues. I went to the middle information desk with two cute girls, one of whom

Back to movies and series...if you can handle foreign videos with subtitles and you like mafia style movies, I most highly recommend "Gomorra", a gritty, violent, realistic look at the inner workings of street mafia in Naples and other parts of Italy. These are the real deal, the real guys, the original Mafia, and they have no inhibitions when it comes to getting what they want. The series (2 seasons so far) is difficult to get off the usual sites, and so, as a convenience to friends, I have zipped up the seasons in two directories in my Dropbox. You can download each season's zip file fro

I had periodontal surgery at Pattaya International Hospital. The oral surgeon was competent, but he wasn't very concerned about pain (mine). A few years earlier, I had it done at Bumrungrad, and I had to specifically request Nitrous Oxide to help get through the procedure. There was a delay while they rustled up a canister...clearly, it was not a normal anesthetic. Had it done in the USA a few years before, and they had me high as a kite and I found it to be much more pleasant. Thai medicine is not big on pain relief.

At the entrance to Wat Chai today, I noticed one and only one prominent sign. It said 'NO SELFIES". Of all the things to warn or forbid people to do, I would think that taking selfies would be fairly low on the list. I can see a ban on the "selfie sticks", since they are liable to hit someone when used, but the simple act of taking a selfie seems rather unobtrusive and acceptable. Someone really got a bee in their bonnet over selfies.

About to do a retirement visa extension, and wondering if my landlord has to do a TM30 and give me a receipt to get the extension through. Has anyone had any pushback from immigration for not having one? I never had one before and usually just gave them a utility bill for proof of address. I know the TM30 thing was in the news this past year, but so was that social media 3 (4?) page form which quietly disappeared, so what's the current state of affairs?

Cobra Gold 2018 (updated Jan. 17, 2018)
MM replied to Evil Penevil's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I was told that for several years, FLB was on the list of establishments that were prohibited by the Navy. Seems, while I was on a visit to the states, there was a Scandi customer who fell asleep on the bar. When mamasan Jaem, a harridan in her own right, attempted to wake him, he struck her, and a tussle ensued with our reception guys coming to eject the guy from the bar. Rather than leaving it at that, they reportedly took him next door to the then closed "ladyboy pizza" place and gave him a bit of a beating, in full view of a delegation from the US embassy, including FBI, the local Navy l -
Refilling prescriptions at a Pharmacy rather than the hospital
MM replied to MM's topic in Expat Issues
I assume from reading the warnings and other information about Tramadol that it would be controlled by a doctor prescription. I'm pretty sure it is in the United States. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk -
Refilling prescriptions at a Pharmacy rather than the hospital
MM replied to MM's topic in Expat Issues
I'm so embarrassed. The whole point of this post is incorrect. The drug I was referring to was Tramadol, which in Thailand is not controlled, and it's available over the counter without a prescription. So just ignore everything in the original post, it's bullshit. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk -
I was recently given a prescription for a controlled substance pain medication at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya. In order to get the refill, I have to pay a doctor consult charge of about 600 baht, a nursing charge of 250 or so (blood pressure and temperature check), and the prescription cost which turns out to be only 260 baht. I asked if they could just write me a prescription that I could get refilled at FASCINO or any full service pharmacy. They told me to simply take the plastic bag that my last prescription came in to the pharmacy and it would be refilled. I'm about at the end o

Sorry case of the Brit letting his road rage overcome his better judgement. He committed multiple serious felonies over a minor issue. The Thai guy sucker punched him as he listened to the Brit lying about his role in the affair, even tho the whole thing was caught by dash cam and showed he was the major aggressor. I'm amazed the old guy lived as long as he has. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

Thailand bans smoking on beaches, including Pattaya
MM replied to Irish boy's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Not the same at all, because you CAN import a car in Thailand and pay the tax and then it is legal to use. There is no provision for paying the tax on ecigs or related products, so there is no way to make them "legal" as you could an imported car. As to the maximum fines etc, as you say, they are unlikely to be applied, because in most cases, the payment of the "fine" is on the spot to the officer and the pyramid to which he reports. -
Thailand bans smoking on beaches, including Pattaya
MM replied to Irish boy's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
This may be fake news. I read a report that said the agency that supposedly promulgated this "law" did not have the authority to make laws, and their authority over beaches only extended to things like oil spills and other major events. Of course the BIB read the newspapers, and whether it's a law as published in the Royal Gazette or not, they will try to stick it to anyone they think they can get a nice bribe from. Today it was announced that the penalty for brandishing or threatening someone with a gun or pretending to have a gun (like a realistic looking air pistol) would carry a 3 -

The next time I go by and see the sign changed to Balti Towers or whatever, I will change the thread title.
