Here are the new rates at the LK Metropole for people who register for the FLB Corporate Rate. It seems a few room rates have gone down and the others have gone up by just a small amount. The columns marked TARIFF are the standard rates that will appear on their website. The yellow highlighted columns are the FLB (corporate) rates. The final column should is the rate for 6+ months.

The hotel is in the process of "re-doing" the FLB rates. I asked them if they were lowering them, and they didn't seem to give me an affirmative response...sort of non-committal, but close to "Are you crazy?". I'll post the new rates when they give them to me. By the way, I agree with many of the critical reviews. The place has problems...but it's been home to me for over 2 years, god knows why.

Jib, Ann, Lek, Nun - gone Na (now Ice) and Mod still there. Ann and Lek left a while ago. Jib stopped on the 1st of this month. Nun stopped a few days ago. Several of these girls are not currently working...or, if they are working, I don't know where.

I should also point out that the medical certificate is not required. It seems I had to have one the last time I did this, but perhaps that was only for my initial visa. Anyway, it was a joke. I went to a clinic on Soi Buakhao, and asked if they could do a certificate for immigration. They said they could, filled out my passport information on a form and handed it to me without checking anything. Cost 100b. I had to ask them to at least check my blood pressure.

News to me. I will check into it. I do know that one BM booked with the FLB rate in October already, so it's a very recent change. We might be taking up too many of their rooms now

You only need to report your current address if you don't leave the country within 90 days of your last re-entry. It's only a matter of going to Immigration and reporting your current address on a form TM7. To renew the retirement visa with 800K baht balance requirement, you need copies of pages from bank book showing 800K baht balance or more for 3 months recent letter from the bank stating your current bank balance 2 photos (4x6) copy of passport pages, showing identity page, last retirement visa stamp, reentry stamp and last departure/arrival card. 1900 baht (1 photo) + 3800 baht (second photo) for multiple entry stamp

I hope people leave some tips for the service staff. They're going to be working their butts off that night.

All the rooms are wired for ADSL now. I don't even know if there is wifi available anymore. In any event, the hotel (much to my annoyance) started charging for internet usage. As I recall, you can buy 20 hours for 1000B. This gives you a login and password for that many hours. If you get a wifi signal, you'll still have to use the login/password. This is silly money grabbing, but they are adamant about it, and I could not sway them.

I consider access to Walking St a major qualification for any place I would stay, and Walking St is quite easily accessible from the LK Metropole. A 50 yard walk to Soi Buakhao, 1 minute wait for a baht bus, then dropped off within a block of the beginning of Walking St. I've been doing it for over 2 years now, and it's never an issue. Of course, if I'm feeling lucky, I take the motorbike, and that's an easy trip too. It's just the return trip that can get a bit dicey. Also, the new Mantra Pura Resort (3rd Road and Pattaya North), while not easily accessible to Walking St or Soi 6, is guest friendly and is quite luxurious.

Since we don't use the Nannie-run Google for revenue for the board, you can swear all you want in here. I don't see any downside to it, other than you might offend someone who does a search for "Pattaya" and "Edit". The problem with discussing other things that are mentioned in the forum header are the local authorities.

Users who have not applied for membership (whose membership status is "Registered") have less features of the board available to them, including less information, no Personal Messages and, of course, the EDIT function. You now have access to these features.

I'd go to the main bus station on Pattaya North (Nua), get a ticket to Mo Chit bus terminal in Bangkok, then when there, buy a VIP bus ticket to wherever you want to go in Issan. As I recall, that station on Sukh. is for the milk run busses that stop in every village and at every intersection. The busses going from the Pattaya North bus station are express to Mo Chit or Ekamai stations.

Palmer's on Pattayaland 2 is very reasonable and good quality. Sometimes, when Palmer is there, he puts an English curry on the menu.

I've never stayed there, but it looks pretty clean from the outside. They are very close to where I live. I'll be sure and drop by there and tell them to get your reservation deposit in advance (Sorry, couldn't resist)

Agreed. I used to go there and grab a chicken and mushroom or steak and mushroom pie regularly, but I stopped going there about 3 months ago because the pies just didn't taste good, and they were stingy with the sauce.
