  1. Well, I can read and know a little bit about computers and software and the only option for the messenger on "my control panel" is, "Personal Messenger Options Disable your personal messenger? If you disable your personal messenger, you will not be able to make or receive personal messages."
  2. Went there, no joy. There is still only one option for personal messenger.
  3. A man entered the bus with both of his front pockets full of golf balls and sat down next to a beautiful (you guessed it) blonde. The puzzled blonde kept looking at him and his bulging pockets. Finally, after many such glances from her, he said, "It's golf balls". Nevertheless, the blonde continued to look at him thoughtfully And finally, not being able to contain her curiosity any longer, asked, "Does it hurt as much as tennis elbow?"
  4. Not girlfriend friendly.
  5. It has little to nothing to do with the aircraft, but with how each individual airline configures the compartments and the seating therein.
  6. According to HomeLand Security and an e-mail I received from one of the airllines you will be allowed to carry 4 ounces of contact lens solution. That should be more than enough for the flight. Are you wearing "hard" contacts?
  7. Well, yes they have said that, in a way. At 03:00 on 28 September the 3 letter designation, BKK, will belong to the new airport. As of the moment a new 3 letter designation has not been assigned to Don Muang Airport. In otherwords, it will cease commercial operation at that time. All subject to change, of course.
  8. As the Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong arrives at 10:30AM, I would imagine they turn that aircraft around and it becomes the 11:30AM flight back to Hong Kong. China Air has a flight out of BKK to TPE at 17:00. Gives you half of another day in LOS before you have to leave for the airport. More if you are staying in BKK.
  9. Arriving BKK at midnight and leaving BKK at zero dark thirty in the morning is not my idea of a customer friendly schedule. I really would like to fly Singapore Air, but out of SFO you are routed first to Hong Kong, then Singapore, and then, Finally, BKK. Adds 4 or so hours to an already long trip. Actually, the best schedule IMHO would be to fly Cathay Pacific to BKK and China Air home, but then you would be splitting miles between two airlines and it has to be more expensive to do it that way.
  10. Thanks for the information. I've heard United has a great FF club and apparently they really do. Some airlines require 100,000 miles for a freebie. If it wasn't for their schedule I'll switch to UAL for the FF club, plus they are home grown. Do they fly 777-200s on that route or 747-400s? Thanks, again.
  11. Lost me on that one. It is about 16,000 miles around trip from the west coast, so double miles would only be 32,000 which is hardly enough for a free trip. Even it were, you simply paid for the second trip in advance, unless, of course, I'm missing something here.....
  12. Can I ask what you paid for a round trip ticket to BKK? I just check the UAL web site and their prices are double what some other airlines are charging.
  13. Is there anyway to set the default for PM to automatically keep a copy of sent messages rather than having to make that choice each and every time a message is sent? Another reason I liked the old version better.
  14. Slow! I prefer the previous version. This one is acting just like pattayasecrets. Starting to wonder if it isn't a problem with this version of the software. If hasn't come to a complete stop as it often does over at secrets, but it is getting close. Somethings don't need to be changed.
  15. At 03:00 on 28 September all commercial flights will go to the new airport. At the moment the new Suvarnabhumi (pronounced su-wan-na-poom) Airport is, NBK. The ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) code is, VTBS. Once the switch is made at 3AM on 28 September the new airport will become, BKK. I haven't heard what the new IATA (International Air Transport Association) designation will be for the old Don Muang airport, however the ICAO code is, and will remain, VTBD. Just for General Information: "The airport codes, also known as IATA location identifiers, are used in the reservation computer systems of airlines and agents. They appear on reservation slips and are prominently displayed on baggage tags attached at airport check-in desks........................While the IATA codes are the most familiar airport codes to airline passengers, four-letter airport codes as defined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) are becoming increasingly common within the aviation industry. All international flights are planned and tracked using ICAO designators, and most GPS (Global Positioning System - the satellite navigation system) databases use ICAO codes." http://www.bangkokairportonline.com/node/19
  16. I've stopped using EVA about 3 years ago, so I don't know if they have refublished any of their 747-400 or not, but I doubt it. It seems that once an aircraft is assigned to a particular route it stays on that route except when it is down for maintenance. Across the pond for 12-14 hours in one direction and then turned around and sent back to its point of origin day after day. EVA apparently plans to replace most, if not all, of their Boeing 747-400 passenger planes with Boeing 777-300ERs and 777-200LRs. They are a launch customer for the B777-300ER and -200LR and have ordered a total of 15. It would appear their order breaks down as 12 B777-300ERs and 3 B777-200LRs. At present EVA owns 6 B747-400, 9 B747-400 Combi, 3 B747-400F, 14 MD-11F and 11 A330-200. I have yet to see what they will do with their older 747-400s. Sell them, convert them to freighers, who knows?
  17. What did you do with the other 5 hours?
  18. Does anything have to be done to existing SIM cards?
  19. As it has been said in the past, the interior of the aircraft depends on the airline. I've been on 747-400s that have been completely refurbished with new interiors and have all the latest electronics, and I've been on older 747-400 that have not. It all depends on the airline and what they want to offer their customers.
  20. I am a big fan of the Boeing 747-400, but two of the most comfortable transpacific flights I've experienced were on a Boeing 777-200. You might find the following to be of interest: Boeing 747-400: Wing span, 211' 5". Overall Length, 231' 10". Cabin Width, 20'. Boeing 777-300ER, of which EVA has just taken delivery of the 3rd of 15 they have ordered: Wing span, 212' 7". Overall Length, 242' 4" Cabin Width, 19' 3".
  21. As far as I can tell that is not the case. As per the first link noted in my first message above, the generic drugs cannot be marketed until the patent has expired. I suggest you read the material at, http://dsp-psd.pwgsc.gc.ca/Collection-R/Lo.../MR/mr144-e.htm Where you will find, as I printed in my first post, this sentence: "In most countries, including the United States, the basic patent term is 20 years from the date on which a patent application is filed." And here: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2006/07/genericdrug.htm If anything it would appear that the major drug companies are using every means available to delay the sale of generic forms of their products. As we know many countries, especially in Asia, pay no attention to patents or copyrights. Ten years ago it was reported that 90% of the factories in China that manufacture illegal copies of everything from computer software to watches were owned by the Chinese government. That hasn't appeared to have changed. As most, if not all, of the generic ED drugs are coming out of India, I guess that says something about their government's policies in this regard.
  22. The term of a patent in the U.S. has recently been changed from 17 years to 20 years. Either way that would mean that any generic versions of Viagra or Cialis are in violation of these patents. "In most countries, including the United States, the basic patent term is 20 years from the date on which a patent application is filed. Until recently the standard patent term in the U.S. was 17 years from the date of the granting of a patent. The recent change aligns U.S. law with the provisions of the Uruguay Round Agreements under the General Agreement of Tariffs and Trade (GATT)." See this link: http://dsp-psd.pwgsc.gc.ca/Collection-R/Lo.../MR/mr144-e.htm
  23. They are very girlfriend friendly, but unless there has been a change in policy in the last few months, they do state, in print, in no uncertain terms, that they do not want the business of certain individuals who, one might say, are.... confused about their sexual orientation? The bed is perfectly adequate for 2, but too small for 3, so if you are into all night threesomes it won't be comfortable.
  24. Sorry, I don't have a picture of the pool. I can say that while it is an attractive pool and big enough to swim in, I would not consider it big enough for serious lap swimming. The main pool at the Sabai Lodge on Soi 2 would be perfect for that purpose.
