Hi neil324 re. icici bank, that is a good rate thanks BongoBill Thanks for the review link. Owen Yes you are right there is a similar compensation scheme in the U.K. with the FSCS(Financial Services Compensation Scheme) for banks registered with the FSA. However not quite as generous amount as U.S.A. To the best of my knowledge the first £2K is guaranteed 100%then 90% of 33K( or could be 90% of £31K).As you correctly suggest for peace of mind best to only deposit with banks that are members of the scheme and if amounts over compensation limit split between 2 or more banks. Cheers

Nice One! -
Thanks Chivas for posting. I`ve used(and been happy with EVA) last 3 flights never flown with Etihad but they sound just as good(albeit with a stopover) and at a lower price. Those that have used Etihad-Who are you booking with Direct or through an agent? Cheers Getting tempted to book another trip!

Hi iceice Also agree with Owen on this For short term if any use to you Nationwide e-saver 4.55%(you must also open a flex account with them but that is useful for Thailand as they give a competitive exchange rate and no charges) Yorkshire bank 4.7% e-saver. Mini Cash ISA between 4.5 and 4.9 % tax free if you haven`t already used this tax-years allowance. Then you can have a good think about what to do longer term. JIMO buying a condo in LOS for rental a weak option if you`re only there 6 weeks of the year and/or haven`t much experience out there.Up to You.

Hi Not the location you described but I noticed a hotel very near Walking Street called Lido Beach Hotel. It is located between Mcdonalds and Starbucks on Beach Road. I haven`t stayed there but just thought the location good. I think website is www.lidobeachpattaya.com. -
reasonable hotel 4 newbie
EnglishPaul replied to inkyskin's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hi chris I don`t think you will have a problem on just turning up that time of year although if you have set your sights on 1 particular hotel if very popular you might just have a risk of it being full. Just a thought - how about booking just 1 or 2 nights so you can party straight away! then look around for some place to stay the rest of your trip. Up to You Plenty of choice in your price range and lower. Enjoy your divorce party!!!! -
Hi surry i agree with posts so far re. taxi. I haven`t used mr.tooms service but plenty of good reports.I recently used lostinspace service listed in the Meeting and cost sharing section here. Paid 2000bht(just under £30) so dearer than mr.toom but an excellent service. Just as a rough guide to hotel location,as it`s going to be your first visit you will probably find it handy to be near the main bahtbus circuit i.e Beach road/2nd road. Any hotel on soi6.7 and 8(nightlife right on your doorstep here!) will be less than 5 minutes walk to catch a bahtbus taxi. Same goes for the hotels on

HELP needed for Hotel Recommendation
EnglishPaul replied to dry_gin's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Hi dry gin Don`t panic! As pattysteve states it will not be high season, almost the opposite. Should be plenty of choice. In addition to those already suggested you could try Dynasty Inn,Sandy Springs and Whitehouse Condotel as well as a few others on soi13 Lek hotel soi12/13. Take a look at some of the reviews for these and others and see what you like the sound of. You have nothing to be nervous about Have a good trip! -

Couple of newbie questions
EnglishPaul replied to poggus's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Hi logan You have already got a couple of good posts in reply. I would just like to confirm that( at least in my experience) travelling solo is not a problem at all. Easy enough to find other guys to chat with ,enjoy a beer or two. Most people in Pattaya are friendly enough. Pleasant female company there in abundance I`m sure you`ll have a great time and working where you do,think you really deserve it! All the Best! -
Hi Bazle- Thanks for posting, I was unaware of that although I would say Cennn3 right on his post, useful to know. Cheers
