  1. Always found rate is a bit better in Pattaya. Just change enough for a joe and maybe a beer or two
  2. Also... try not to exchange too much after about 1pm on a Friday afternoon cos the exchange rate is nearly always reduced and frozen until Monday to protect the currency over the weekend.
  3. I have stayed in many hotels worldwide (with a variety of prices from inexpensive to wtf?) and the majority of them do not do daily linen changes.
  4. Great reports, thank you. Looking at the photographs have actually made me hungry. Please just try and ignore any snidey remarks!
  5. Adam, looks like it was another great night at the Cherry, sorry I couldn't make it. So happy you've beaten your affliction. Cherry bar is on soi 8. If you are coming from second road head towards beach road end, its quite a way down on the left hand side. Keep looking at the signs and you'll hit it eventually. If you are coming from beach road head towards second road its about 50/100 yards up on the right. Its in the first beer bar complex you come to and its the first bar. There is/was an empty bar next to it.
  6. Same Same for you southerners growler
  7. T'aint fair! I haven't even got enough players fit for a game of 5 a side!
  8. Don't panic, its early days and I'm well known for my lack of skill at picking fantasy teams. Alex
  9. Looks like another good night at the Rock House
  10. Hi Python, Its something to do with baggage handlers being seperate from the airline, i.e. your cases are unloaded from the plane and the airline pays a company to do it. a guy who used to work for me was with easyjet for a while and he told me about it. On my first trip to Pattaya I flew Belf - Gatwick - Austria - Bangkok. The main airline was Austrian and I e-mailed them ref booking luggage all the way thru. They would do it for a fee of £60. Thats only £30 each way but when I looked at transfer times I had hours to spare and weighed up the hassle against the risk of your luggage not turning up and decided not to bother. If you are lucky enough to book two airlines on the net that are affiliated then (if you ask) it'll be done no charge. The great thing about the web is you can ask before you book. Its a bollox livin on this wee island. Hope this makes sense cos I'm a bit pissed
  11. Reference checking bags all the way when booking on net using two unconnected airlines. It can be done but there may be a charge. When you book just send an email to the main carrier (or even prior to booking).
  12. Shop around, I think the quality is pretty much of a muchness, so its basically down to price. Used the one on the corner of SOI 8 (2nd road end) very good work.
  13. My brother and a few mates are Leeds fans. My brother lives in Australia so has only seen their demise from the weekly paper I sent him. He is understandably gutted. I am also a spurs fan and no matter how much you love or hate Leeds the demise of such a huge name in football is very very sad. Those performances in the Champions league seem like only yesterday. I do hope they recover but I think its gonna take a while. Good Luck!
  14. Does no-one else see the wrong in letting a secretary place your posts on the board?
  15. No, there is no joiners fee however I didn't have any threesomes this year so I'm not sure if there is a fee for any extra girls?
  16. I stayed at the Jasmine Mansion on Soi Baukaow from the 5th July to 1st August 2007 in the Penthouse suite. MY ACCOMODATION. The Penthouse suite is on the top floor, it consists of a very large room with seperate large bathroom, good size fridge, TV and DVD player. There are two air conditioning units which are operated by remote control and a table with two chairs for dining. Outside the room is a good size kitchen (open air under cover) with bench seat and dining table. This leads onto the veranda which has two sun loungers. The top floor is shared with a small area set aside for the cleaning girls but this was no problem and I was not disturbed by the girls. There is ample room for sunbathing with an outside (cold) shower but i never quite managed a bathe. (no lift but I survived) THE FOOD. As I am a butterfly I tend to eat alone more often than not. I am also a very picky eater so I had intended to do quite a bit of cooking for myself. I did cook myself a couple of curries, some pancakes and the odd batch of bacon and eggs however I sampled the food at Jasmine early on and found it very good. I found a core of three or four meals which suited my picky needs and they were always cooked to perfection and well presented which meant I did not have to cook as often as I'd imagined. THE STAFF. I have previously stayed at Residence Garden & Areca Lodge and found the staff to be very smiley and generally friendly/helpful. At Jasmine Mansion the staff were exceptional. I was always met with a friendly greeting and beautiful smiles, after a while we appeared to have developed quite a rapport. My accent is apparently more difficult to understand than an English accent and often had the girls in fits of laughter by just speaking the odd sentence or two. There is no better relief from a hangover than a warm smile or a giggle. I can understand why some of the reception staff have been stolen away by previous guests. THE HOTEL. Jasmine Mansion is ideally situated for my needs, it is equidistant from WS and Sois 7/8. Everything you would need is within walking distance. I used the laundry facing Areca Lodge, I'm sure there was one closer but I used them last year and was pleased with their service. Turn right out main entrance and there is a currency exchange about 50 yards down on the same side of the road. On two seperate occassions I checked the rates in 5 or 6 other exchange booths and this one ALWAYS gave best rate. There are plenty of pubs, go gos nearby and of course just round the corner is Hell Club Lolitas and Rock House. MY HOSTS. Kevin and Jin are great hosts, I was made to feel very much at home from the start and any problems I had were dealt with very quickly. They showed genuine concern when something failed or was delayed and Kevin strives for perfection which alas I fear will always be just beyond his reach. The Hotel was kept spotless throughout my stay and I was impressed. IN SUMMARY. Picking a hotel is a very personal thing, so a recommendation from me might not be in the best interests of someone who has different needs or expectations. I picked Jasmine Mansion because I liked Kevins writing style on the board and I was very pleased that I did. If the room size, cost etc suits your needs then all I can say is that Kevin, Jin and their staff will enhance your visit. If there are no major changes in the future I think I have found my home from home Thanks to all at the Jasmine Mansion Alex (a very satisfied customer).
  17. Hi Ian (Stormy) thought you had been kidnapped by Aliens, sorry you couldn't make it, think you may have enjoyed! Mulphy.. a party is only as good as the people who attend so thanks to you, your lovely wife and all your staff..especially Dah who made an old man very happy. To all who attended... thank you for making it such a fun night, look forward to seeing the photos. P.S. I'm still pulling bits of cake out of strange places (hope no-one is eating as they read). Cheers Alex
  18. Don't worry "Mulphy" as long as.... me.....you...the girls...and more importantly my wallet turn up, I'm sure we'll be fine. Cya later Alex
  19. Well Whoops I f**kin do Mr Toom is a taxi service which "more often than not" does what he is paid for. Unfortunately if he doesn't do his job it appears that now that lostinspace has extended his family, alternatives are few and far between! Luckily enuff I have now found my transport for this year but if it is not satisfactory I will let you all know. As for Mr Toom, well congratulations, you are booked, you (more often than not) turn up, you drop off... not exactly rocket science but for some reason you are a hero on Pattayatalk, so kudos to you. As for the 10baht business, to all those people who cry "its only 10 baht" I refer you to MM who stated that if one of his staff had done this he would like to know. Perhaps Roland did it as a wind up or perhaps Roland really is that tight, the bottom line is the 10 baht was not offered back to the customer and that aint right! Anyway I am pist as a pist up person and just watched a so called boxing prodigy get his ass whupped... silver lining...I'll be in LOS in 5days!!!!!!!
  20. Thanks for taking the time. Cya soon
  21. Hi Meatball, noticed your flag on the board, it'll be nice to put a face to the name. Be careful what you say, I'm currently studying Origami Cya soon
  22. Hi to all Am having a party at Cherry Bar on 23rd July, live music, food and perhaps a drink? Help me say farewell to 49 and hello to 50 yikes!!! am I really that f**kin old Hope to see you all there (hope I make it myself lol).
  23. My flight arrives at 1810hrs or I would gladly share. Looking forward to my tequila shot on the 12th!
  24. I would suggest that you have a couple of lessons before buying clubs as golf is not for everyone. I would also then suggest that you buy new clubs, if you are retiring and thinking of playing golf regularly it would be better having new gear which should last you several years.
  25. Better late than never! Thanks for your efforts, looks like you've got a busy month ahead of you!!
