What really pisses me off, are the web sites that offer the flights for £440 but when you ring and state dates required, you get "sorry can't get at those prices for those dates" I should ring and say I'll go on whatever dates at the price advertised, but then even if they are reasonable prices, they will slam you with a huge additional levy for paying by CC! how else can you pay? I've had Crab stir-fried with curry powder in many places in Pattaya, Thats usually what it is called on the menu. bpuu pat pong garee my book tells me. Though also called "dry curry" or "indian style" due to the different flavour and smell of the curry powder and the much thicker paste like sauce as there is no coconut milk.

I ate in Pizza Big 3 times a few weeks ago, along with 3 people that had never before heard of the place, but I knew they liked pizza and they loved it. Pizza was great, generous toppings and reasonably priced. I think a pizza with two topping that was easily enough for 2 cost 280Tbt. As per Evil's photo, that photo was not taken in Pizza Big, and with regard to the Holiday Inn, I checked out of there less than 2 weeks ago after 8 nights. A couple of years ago I remember there was a large market in the evenings off 2nd Road. As you headed north, just past the entrance to Drinking Street it would have on the right, before that large building that goes all the way to Dolphin roundabout. The market was pretty big selling mostly touristy type stuff with staging to one side with Thai singers and dancing. Is it still there? Is it on every night or at certain times of the year? Also, I remember one time there where many stalls along Beach Road, beach side, from about Soi 8 to WS. Does this still happen?

Thanks for your replies. The Limo Pattaya charge 3500Tbt (£70) maybe I'm getting more cost conscience as I get older, but that seems a hell of a lot for 2.5 hour taxi journey in Thailand. As for Bell Travel, I would certainly consider it if I was on my own and the timings suited, but I will have family with me and don't want them getting off a long flight to then wait, perhaps nearly 2 hours for a bus. Can anyone recommend a taxi driver or company that could transport me plus 3 with luggage from Swampy to Hua Hin? I have used Mr T many times before, including this journey, and always found him very good. However, he now tells me "no service to Hua Hin from us" I think he charged about 1500Tbt a couple of years ago. Help appreciated as I really dont want to get a bus!

For informationm, I am confident that when a wanna be chef first attends catering college, even in the first days in their chosen career, basic costings are taught. From memory, a simple rule of thumb was that, in a restaurant, the cost of ingredients should not exceed 20% of the dishes selling price.

I think that looks great, especially for 150baht. I also am a sucker for anchovies, but sometimes less is more. It can be easy for the Anchovie to dominate. So, too much can be worse than too little. Have also known pizza chefs to drizzle some of the oil that the anchovies often come in over the pizza prior to placing it in the oven, that tastes great too imho. I look forward to trying the Brooklyn Diner. Any comparison to, or thoughts on Pizza Big, Naklua?

I have been considering a few things regarding retiring to Pattaya with my Mrs. If possible, would it not be easier, if you have the money, to have "his and hers" local bank accounts, that day to day you don't touch, maybe dip into if needed, but have a little over 800k most of the year in both. Then in addition, if required show a "live" day to day joint account showing income and routine expenses like rent and medical insurance payments, local cash withdrawals etc?
