  1. It's available on amazon in the U.S. for $16.49 http://www.amazon.com/Queen-Patpong-Raffer...2492&sr=8-1
  2. Just finished "The Queen of Patpong" by Timothy Hallinan. Found it a good read and recommend.
  3. There is a used bookstore on soi boakeow (sp?) also. If you return a book to them they will give you 50% of the cost toward a new book. It's before the boakeow market near the first curve. http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?ALuRUFuqkcFDKDaA
  4. I stayed at the Pasadena Lodge a couple of years ago and have no complaints. A friends son stayed there in July and I heard he was happy with his stay. I would recommend the Pasadena lodge. My most recent trip I stayed at the LK Metropole and recommend them. I got a lower rate by emailing the hotel directly. I like the LK Metro area. I have had friends stay at 3som and the Metro apartments with no complaints and they have recommended both establishments to me. Hope this helps. Good luck with your hunt.
  5. At the bottom of your screen shot there is a button that says "Toggle Side Panel". If you click on it, it will bring back your smilies :)
  6. Hi Chris, who is the cute girl second from left in the red bra in the first picture? Does she still work at your bar? If it's a yes you'll see me there soon I'm assuming I can catch the Bhat Bus to Jomtien and hope off at Soi 10? Thanks in advance
  7. I'm due to fly out tomorrow night. I called my airline (EVA) and they advised they would reimburse the full price of my ticket if I decide to cancel. I'm on the fence. Waiting until tomorrow to decide. I would hope your airline would do the same for your ticket. I did book directly through EVA's website.
  8. I've only stayed at Pasadena Lodge and Pattaya Bay Resort from your list. I enjoyed my stay at both places. I would pick the PBR over the Pasadena, there are more amenities at the PBR making it a better value for the bhat IMHO
  9. Thanks to everyone for their feedback Sent an email and the Liquid Lounge is fully booked for the dates requested. The rooms sound great. I'll try them again during my next trip.
  10. I'm looking into staying at the Liquid Lounge for my next trip to Pats at the end of May. http://www.liquidloungepattaya.com/home.html Has anyone stayed here recently and if so could you provide some feed back on your stay? What did you think of the rooms and service? Did you find the bed comfortable? How was the noise level in the rooms from the bar below? Thanks in advance for any info
  11. I stayed at the Pasadena about a year ago. No complaints and would recommend.
  12. I've paid the monthly rate and left, before the 30 days. In past experience as long as you pay for the 30 days the hotel doesn't care if you leave before the 30 days are up.
  13. Blackout curtains over the windows, since most of us stay up all night and sleep during the day
  14. Planning my trip for next week and would like to stay on Soi LK Metro. I've narrowed my choices down to 3Som Bar, Billabong or Armageddon. I like the looks of the rooms at Armageddon but I haven't been able to find any recent reviews on Pattaytalk. http://www.armageddonbar.com/index.html I did a search on the PA board and one member complained of bed bugs and receiving about 10 bites. Needless to say he checked out after one night. The post on PA was from August. Has anyone stayed at Armageddon recently and are bed bugs still an issue at this guesthouse? TIA
  15. I've always used DTAC. A year ago they had a booth at arrivals, before you exit the terminal to the street. Picked up a new SIM card, hopped in the cab and headed straight to pattaya
  16. I stayed there in March and the construction noise wasn't to bad, just a little sporadic pounding late morning which I easily slept through. Not sure if the noise has increased now. the new building was only a few feet away from the bathroom window, so if the construction activity does increase I would imagine the noise would be intolerable
  17. I stayed at both hotels during my Feb - March trip and enjoyed both places. The main difference between the two hotels is that the Pasadena does not have a pool and no restaurant/room service on premises, but the Pasadena rooms were cheaper and I liked the location better. I did not bring a lap top so cannot comment on the wifi.
  18. All room types have an in-room safe. I have to correct my earlier post. When I spoke to reception initially they showed me one other superior room that also had two twin beds pushed together and at that time she indicated that all beds were probably the same. Later today the receptionist advised they do have superior rooms with "big bed" and I'll be able to change rooms tomorrow. I've since booked the rest of my stay at the Pasadena.
  19. I'm staying at the Pasadena now for a few days. I'm in a superior room. (26 sqm) at the high season rate of 1,000 baht a day. I like the hotel and the layout of the rooms, a few things others should be aware of. The king size bed in their superior rooms are two twin beds pushed together, there is no balcony, the rooms do not have phones so if you have a friend staying there you can't call them room to room. The AC is a little on the noisy side. The construction noise did not bother me. I was able to sleep through 12 pm today. The construction noise seems to be sporatic with the
  20. I use a combination of pre booking on the net and walking in. I don't really want to be hunting for a hotel after a 20 hour flight. I'll pre-book the first couple of days (or a week if they offer a discount) and check out other rooms to see if they have a better price and room than my current accommodations.
  21. Hi Alf, Sounds like a great offer. I'll be by in May to apply for my Privilege card . I was wondering how much is the barfine at TQ2? If I use my 1 free ST, really like the lady, and want to take her LT how much would the BF be?
  22. Why not just stay in Pattaya and arrange a car to take you directly to the airport? I've done this in the past for a 1 am flight. I worried about making my flight and gave myself an extra hour to get to the airport. Used Mr. Toom and the driver arrived early. Made it in plenty of time. Gave me a few more hours in Pattaya to hit soi 6 and Lolitas Sorry I can't offer much help with your original question
  23. I have used Thai airways direct flight from JFK and EVA out of Newark. The Thai flight is a better option. EVA has two stops, one in Seattle and than a layover in Taiwan making the total trip about 21 hrs. Plus the scheduling on Thai is better as a believe they have a flight that leaves everyday. I have heard the economy plus is not worth the extra money unless you get the $200 upgrade offer when you check in.
  24. I was hoping to book my flight for later this year (JFK-BKK) on TG this week.
